Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is appearing at a news conference shortly.

Guehi has been one of England's shining lights in Germany this summer, helping the Three Lions to secure two clean sheets from their opening two games and forming a solid partnership with John Stones.

  2. 'Big hope for Slovakia'published at 13:00 27 June

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Slovakian sports journalist Lukas Vrablik is optimistic about their chances of beating England in the last 16.

"I was live at the Serbia game and watched the other one on TV so I'm quite disappointed by England's performances, especially when you look at their individual quality have at their disposal," Vrablik told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"I thought that England would be more convincing in those games, and Slovenia managed to neutralise the danger so it gives me big hope for Slovakia.

"I think this England team doesn't look that strong as it did before the tournament.

"The other side of the story is that knockout stages are different to the group stages. I think that England got the job done in the group stages with Southgate in a quite pragmatic approach but, as mentioned by midfielder Stanislav Lobotka, at some point England will start to find form."

  3. Wolves in talks for striker Larsenpublished at 12:55 27 June

Wolves are in talks with Celta Vigo over a 30m euro deal for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Boss Gary O'Neil has been looking for a No.9 since arriving at Wolves last summer and Larsen fits the bill.

While a deal is not imminent, BBC Sport understands Wolves are hopeful they can get one done for the Norway international.

Larsen scored 16 goals for club and country last season as Celta finished 14th in La Liga.

He started his career at Sarpsborg in Norway before moving to Groningen in Holland, scoring 24 goals in 67 appearances.

Celta paid a reported 11m euros to bring him to Spain in 2022 and he has scored 18 times in 74 games.

Wolves have already signed winger Rodrigo Gomes on a five-year deal from Braga while teenage right back Pedro Lima will join from Brazilian side Sport Recife on 1 July.

England have got to be confident to beat this Slovakia team, they need to give it a go.

Slovakia have got a very strong midfield; Lobotka needs special attention, they throw balls into the box early, there’s nothing special about them, they’re well organised,

They play a tight 4-3-3 with Duda, Lobotka and Kucka in midfield, they are good and they’ll work.

We've seen some of the so called ‘lesser teams’ put in some good performances and beating the big boys. If you look at Slovakia against Belgium for example, this is what England have to be wary of.

  5. 'England are there for the taking'published at 12:45 27 June

Slovakian sports journalist Lukas Vrablik spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live about his nation facing England in the last 16.

"This England team doesn’t look that strong," Vrablik said.

"I think they got the job done by getting through the group stages. I think Southgate’s approach has been quite pragmatic.

"At some point England will start to get rolling, it’s just a matter of time. I think there is ambition by Slovakia.

"England are there for the taking, but it’s like this every Euros, so it’s hard to predict."

England will take on Francesco Calzona's Slovakia on Sunday, 30 June in the last 16 knockout stage.

Who should the Three Lions look out for ahead of that match at Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen?

Slovakia’s squad for Euro 2024 is a mix of seasoned veterans and young talent.

A major strength of the Slovak side is stability.

Midfield trio of Juraj Kucka, Ondrej Duda, and Stanislav Lobotka is well organised and established.

They sit in front of an impressive defence anchored by PSG's Milan Skriniar and Feyenoord’s robust centre back David Henko, while Newcastle’s Martin Dubravka provides a dependable presence in goal.

Slovakia's weakest area on the pitch falls on the goals department with no proven goal scorer in the squad.

During qualifying for Euro 2024, 11 different players scored, which might be seen as a strength in disguise.

England will now take on Slovakia, who finished third in Group E on Sunday - Kick off is 17:00 BST

Slovakia, have never beaten England in six attempts (Five losses and one draw).

Anthony Gordon has been pictured this morning with a graze on his chin, nose and with some red marks on his hands and wrists.

We've been told that he fell off of a bike yesterday at the England camp.

We've seen pictures of the team riding bikes around their base on recovery days and it looks like Gordon has taken a fall.

All is good though and the Newcastle forward is in full training.

Steven Willis: Georgia proved what real passion when playing for your country can achieve against Portugal last night. Truly amazing, nobody is going to want to play them, just a shame they've drew Spain next.

S.a.m: No Euros till Saturday is a shame, been a thrilling group stage duo of great games (some less so), great goals, drama, bring on knockout stages.

Euros always have positive underdog stories and my heart is hoping Georgia and Austria to follow the footsteps of Greece and Denmark.

    Thant

Brilliant group stage with lots of shock results. Great to see Georgia and Slovenia go through. I feel Spain and Germany are favourites from what we’ve seen so far, but it would be fantastic to see Austria go all the way.

England begin their knockout campaign against Slovakia, so let's take a closer look at Sunday's opponents.

Manager Francesco Calzona has led the team since August 2022, and although he failed to win any of his first five games, he has since overseen a period of largely positive results.

In their qualifying campaign for Euro 2024, his side only lost twice in their 10 matches and that was to Portugal on both occasions.

They qualified for the last 16 as the third-placed team out of Group E, having stunned Belgium to win their opening game before a defeat to Ukraine and draw with group winners Romania.

They scored and conceded three goals in the group games and kept one clean sheet against Belgium.

England and Slovakia have played each other six times to date and the Three Lions are undefeated in those meetings. England have recorded five victories and one draw against them, with two of those wins in the 2018 World Cup qualifying group stage.

  14. 'We have to be very careful' with expectationpublished at 11:55 27 June

Have England become a victim of their own success?

Gareth Southgate says "our world is different" to those of other countries at Euro 2024 because we have a greater expectation as England fans.

"On the day of the [Slovenia] game I showed them pictures of Italy celebrating their qualification with their fans, of Hungary celebrating when they didn’t even know if they were through. Denmark celebrating a draw against us, and they were on two points.

"Our world is different at the moment and I feel that is probably because of me.

"I have to help the players as much as I possibly can because we brought the joy back into playing for England and we have to be very careful of where we head with it."

On why the mood in the stands has changed, Southgate added: "I think probably expectation.

"We have made England fun again over the last six years. It's been enjoyable for the players and we have to be very careful that it stays that way."

The England team have now gone into passing drills aimed at working on short quick passes.

The England side have been criticised for their play in possession so know they need to improve if they’re to progress deeper into the tournament.

  18. Shaw continues to build up fitnesspublished at 11:44 27 June

A lot has been made of England’s options at left back. Luke Shaw has been out on the grass for a few sessions in a row now.

The big question for Gareth Southgate is whether he feels he’s fit enough or how much of a risk it is to put him into a knockout game. Shaw hasn’t played for his club side Manchester United since February.

Despite playing only a little football at the Euros so far Anthony Gordon looks sharp.

So does Ollie Watkins. Will they make impacts against Slovakia?

  20. Postpublished at 11:40 27 June

The players seem happy as they warm-up, with Luke Shaw and Trent Alexander-Arnold sharing a joke between the two of them.

They are working hard in their drills and Shaw is working at the same pace as the others. There are definitely positive signs regarding the fitness of the left-back.
