  1. Not direct enoughpublished at 10:06 27 June

Before Wednesday's games, England had created the second highest ‘build-up attacks’ (16) by putting together the second highest number of 10+ passing sequences of any team, leading to seven ‘big chances’.

However, they had just one 'direct attack' on three games - putting them 20th on that metric.

Former England forward Ellen White: "Our tempo. When we move the ball at speed, I don’t think anyone can live with us.

"It happened in flashes against Slovenia, for example with our disallowed goal, but it didn’t happen enough."

Although England have not clicked, once again they have been given an amazing draw to the final. Surely it's time to fix any issues before Sunday and come home heroes.

Barcelona have announced that England defender Lucy Bronze will not be renewing her contract and will depart the Liga F champions when her contract expires on 30 June.

The 32-year-old joined the Spanish club after leaving Manchester City in the summer of 2022 and has lifted seven trophies with Barca Femeni, winning the Champions League and Liga F on two occasions each.

Bronze is a five-time winner of the Champions League, having enjoyed success three times during her three-year stay with Lyon.

"The club wishes Lucy Bronze the best of luck and success in her new stage, both personally and professionally," Barcelona said in a statement.

Chaos at full-time whistle after Turkey beat Czech Republic

Fans of Turkey and the Czech Republic had been enjoying the sunny weather in Hamburg in the build-up to last night's encounter, but the heat may have also had an impact on a match that saw the most bookings in a Euros game.

Before the late sending off there had been a total of 17 yellows shown, with Barak's earlier red replacing the two yellows he had previously been given in data analysts Opta's card count for the match.

Eight of those bookings coming after the 80th minute as both sides pushed for a second goal.

Patrik Schick, the Czech Republic’s injured striker, was also one of those to be shown a yellow even though he did not get on the pitch.

The ill-discipline marred what had been a highly entertaining encounter, particularly after the Czech Republic had equalised to leave the tie delicately poised.

But once the final whistle went, Turkey's loud and passionate supporters were able to focus on another memorable win against the Czech Republic at a European Championship, having come from two goals down to beat them at the 2008 tournament - to also seal their progression from the group stage.

Belgium were heavy favourites to top Group E with the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Leandro Trossard in their ranks but they've endured a difficult couple of weeks.

The Red Devils scored just two goals in their three group fixtures, albeit they only conceded one, but there's discontent among the Belgium fanbase as they had to settle for second place.

Finishing runners-up to Romania means Belgium must face World Cup finalists France in the last 16.

The players were booed off the field in Stuttgart last night and De Bruyne wants them back on board for that knockout clash in Dusseldorf on 1 July.

"We just need [the fans], I don’t know what else to say. We just need them, you know?" De Bruyne said.

"We will need them against France like we needed them in the last three games."

It’s easy to support a winning team but real supporters get behind their team when it’s is not doing so well. Come on, let’s give the boys and Gareth the support they need. They can yet do us proud.

Belgium secured their spot in the last 16 of Euro 2024, but there were few celebrations and no adulation at full-time in Stuttgart.

Instead, captain Kevin de Bruyne led his team-mates away from the fans who jeered loudly, expressing their frustration at the goalless draw with Ukraine.

Minutes earlier, the midfielder had played a corner short, kept it near the flag and did not attempt to score from the set-piece. It was eventually played back to goalkeeper Koen Casteels and met with intense booing from the Belgium support.

"There is one minute left of the game so you don't want to take any risks," said De Bruyne.

"I understand people want us to win but if we go for the corner, they win it back, then they score, then everyone will kill me.

"Sometimes you need to take certain risks and sometimes you need to be smart. Two minutes from the end you need to be smart, definitely."

There's a lot to dissect so I want to hear your thoughts.

Which nation has caught your eye? Who do you fancy to go all the way? Which player(s) have impressed you the most?

Let's leave any negativity at the door and focus on the positives of the competition!

In March, the streets of Tbilisi became the centre of an impromptu procession to celebrate an incredible Georgia success as they reached a first major tournament.

Now, they've gone one step better and reached the Euro 2024 knockout stage.

It came through an upset of the highest order, overcoming the odds to stun Portugal 2-0 in their final group-stage game and write a new chapter in their nation's history.

Star man Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had no doubt of the result's magnitude. "This the best day in the lives of Georgians," he said.

The Napoli forward clung to the shirt of Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo in his post-match news conference - the same Ronaldo whose side had been frustrated in defeat, having been undone defensively and misfired in the final third.

Georgia are ranked 68 places below Portugal in Fifa's rankings and completed the greatest upset by that metric. Portugal manager Roberto Martinez conceded their unfancied opponents had shown an "incredible belief" and "deserved the credit".

The euphoric post-match celebrations will live long in the memory as emotional players and supporters sung and danced together.

"Everyone is so happy and we just made history, nobody would believe that we would make it happen and we would defeat Portugal," said Kvaratskhelia.

I don't know what tournament Mark (08:04) has been watching, this has easily been one of the best group stages of a tournament I can remember. It's been ridiculously entertaining! Big teams struggling is what has made it so unpredictable and exciting. The gap between the "minnows" and the elite seems to be decreasing, which is good for everyone!

Cenk Tosun scored a stoppage-time winner as Turkey beat the Czech Republic in a fiery final group game to secure a last-16 tie against Austria.

The Czechs needed to win Wednesday's final group game to avoid being eliminated, and they pushed for victory in the tense closing stages.

But they left gaps in defence and former Everton striker Tosun cut inside and drove a shot into the back of the net.

The Czech Republic's hopes of victory were not helped when they had Antonin Barak sent off midway through the first half for a second yellow card after catching Arda Guler with his studs up.

There were a total of 18 cards shown in or after the game, a new record for a European Championship match.

Initially, Turkey struggled to break down their opponents and finished the first half without a shot on target, but their passionate fans were sent wild six minutes after the break when captain Hakan Calhanoglu struck into the bottom corner.

That meant the Czech Republic needed to score twice, and they got back level when West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek volleyed in from six yards.

The game was wide open after that as both sides pushed for victory, and it was Turkey who got it in the 94th minute to confirm their progress.

There were chaotic scenes right at the end as both sets of players clashed, resulting in the Czech Republic having another player sent off as Tomas Chory was shown a red card.

But the Turkey players were able to celebrate their dramatic win soon after and look forward to the knockout stages.
