Burton Albion may not have come away with all three points in their last league venture, but the close 1-0 defeat against promotion-contenders Wrexham has them feeling confident.

After the match, interim boss Tom Hounsell said that his side's performance shows they "can go toe-to-toe with anyone" and they will need that belief today as they visit Leyton Orient.

The Brewers are second from bottom of the league, level on points with basement dwellers Shrewsbury Town and could see themselves stoop to the back if the Salops get a result against the league leaders Wycombe Wanderers later on this afternoon.

A win here would ensure (or at least, give them the extremely likely chance) that they stay where they are on the table before the kick-off whistle has even blown in Shropshire.

But they need to defeat an Orient side that has two straight league wins under their belt and seems to be on the rise.

Who will be keep their confidence by the end of this one, we wonder.

  2. Wanderers seek to 'tic' off Wiganpublished at 12:19 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December

Just over 12 years ago this was a Premier League fixture and, understatement of the year, these two clubs have been through a lot since their last top flight meeting in February 2012 (a 2-1 win for Wigan in case you were wondering).

Wanderers have been close to extinction and all the way down to League Two while Wigan have been FA Cup winners, Europa League contenders but also bugged by financial issues and points deductions.

Between the two Bolton appear to be in ruder health although dropping into the relegation zone in September was hardly the start expected after last season's play-off semi-final exit.

Since then, Bolton have won 10 of their 17 games in all competitions and quietly moved up to seventh place with a chance to break into the top six today.

As for Wigan, how shall we describe their current life in League One, everyone happy with 'bumpy'?

After finishing smack bang in the middle of the pack last season, Shaun Maloney is struggling to get a tune out of his current band and there is unrest among the fans not helped by sitting just one point clear of the relegation zone.

So what would put a smile back on Wigan faces? Well, they have won their last two games at Bolton 4-0 and never recorded three straight victories at today's opponents...

Hello all to a super Saturday of live coverage from Leagues One and Two and, boy, what a day we have for you!

Two former Premier League teams face off in today's early kick-off between Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic while second from bottom side Burton Albion face a surging Leyton Orient.

Then later on, it's the battle of David v Goliath as top side Wycombe Wanderers make the trip to basement team Shrewsbury Town and reconnect with former long-serving manager Gareth Ainsworth.

While over in League Two, the newly instated league leaders Walsall take on Barrow to keep their spot at the top with Port Vale looking to keep in touching distance with a win over Bromley.
