  2. 'Results not good enough' - Cowiepublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 24 August

    FT: Rangers 6-0 Ross County

County manager Don Cowie tells BBC Scotland: "The result shows it wasn't acceptable. When it gets to two and three, you have to have that pride to make sure it isn't any more.

"We've got a very important game next week we need to dust ourselves down for.

"There are lessons to learn every single week. No knee-jerk reaction, but at the same time we recognise the last two results aren't good enough."

Cowie adds that there is nothing imminent on the transfer front.

  4. 'We can't so no to every' bid - Clementpublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 24 August

    FT: Rangers 6-0 Ross County

Rangers manager Philippe Clement tells BBC Sportsound: “We should have scored 10 or 11 today to have a perfect afternoon."

On two-goal striker Cyriel Dessers, he adds: “It’s clear Cyriel is taking the right steps and becoming more and more important. He’s growing as a player, that’s what we want. He’s somebody who’s eager to become better.”

Rabbi Matondo also scored a double at a time when the winger has been linked with a move away from Ibrox and Clement says: "There are a lot of rumours [linking him away]. We cannot say no to everything, we’ll see this week.

"For the moment, Rabbi will be here with us next week. That’s what I want also. But, if someone comes with enough money, the club will always be open for talks."

  5. Defending 'clearly needs to improve' - Graypublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 24 August

    FT: Hibernian 2-2 Dundee

Hibernian head coach David Gray tells Sportsound: "It was difficult to watch at times for certain reasons. We start poorly again and lose a really poor goal again.

"As a result, we looked nervy and fragile. But credit for getting back in the game just before half time. It was an important goal at an important time.

"We came out second half in a much better frame of mind and we were on the front foot and dominating the game.

"It is a new back four that's playing together. We need to be critical of ourselves to make sure we're doing everything we can. We need to find the answers to these as quickly as possible."

  8. Docherty praises Dundee spiritpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 24 August

    FT: Hibernian 2-2 Dundee

Dundee manager Tony Docherty tells Sportsound: "We seem to be involved in a lot of these games. I'd like a dull one nothing at one stage.

"It's mixed emotions because we were outstanding in the way we started the game. I thought we controlled the game out of possession, we could have been better in possession, but we deservedly took a 1-0 lead.

"We were so dominant. Coming in at 1-1 wasn't a fair result.

"In the second half, credit to Hibs they made a lot of changes and I've got to be proud of my team to be 2-1 down in the 87th minute, to dig out an equaliser. I thought we were going to go on and win it at the end. I couldn't be more proud of them."

  9. Dykes could be heading for QPR exitpublished at 17:46 British Summer Time 24 August

A wee bit of Scotland national team news.

As mentioned earlier, Billy Gilmour started Brighton's win over Manchester United, who had Scott McTominay as a late substitute, with both midfielders being linked with Napoli.

Meanwhile, Queens Park Rangers head coach has indicated that Lyndon Dykes could be on his way out of the club after the striker was omitted from the squad for the 1-1 draw with Plymouth Argyle.

Asked why Dykes, who is not injured, was left out, Cifuentes said: "I just pick players based on availability. He wasn't available."

Pressed on whether he expects Dykes to still be a QPR player after the transfer window closes next week, the Spaniard said: "I don't know."

  10. Levein not downheartedpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 24 August

FT: Dundee United 2-0 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Craig Levein tells BBC Scotland: "Going in at half-time, I was relatively happy. We'd created chances, I thought we were the better side. Until we lost the goal, I still thought we were pretty good.

"Then we slumped after that. Then the sending off occurs and throws us into a tailspin. It's hard enough getting into a game behind, but being a man down makes it doubly difficult.

"We were good enough to take something from the game, but we made mistakes and got punished for it."

  14. Aberdeen confirm Nisbet loanpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 24 August

Aberdeen have announced the signing of Scotland striker Kevin Nisbet on loan from Millwall.

The 27-year-old says he can't wait to get started with the Dons, who have started the season with seven straight wins under new manager Jimmy Thelin despite selling top striker Bojan Miovski earlier this week.

"As soon as I knew Aberdeen were interested, it was a no brainer to be honest," he tells the club website.

"I did have options down south and with other teams in Scotland, but the way the team have started the season, I wanted to get involved.

"This is a massive club. It is an exciting project that I want to be part of."

  15. Perfect Hampden farewell?published at 17:18 British Summer Time 24 August

    FT: Rangers 6-0 Ross County

    Kheredine Idessane
    BBC Scotland at Hampden

As Hampden farewells go (if it proves to be the case that their next home game is back at Ibrox), this could not have gone better for Rangers.

Two goals up at the break, five goals up by 70 minutes, Philippe Clement's men simply cruised through this one.

Two goals and two assists for Rabbi Matondo, a double for deadly Cyriel Dessers, who claimed his fifth goal in six games, is just the morale booster Rangers would have wanted before next weekend's derby at Celtic Park.

The one blot on the copybook? Another injury. Centre-back Leon Balogun, just restored to the team, had to go off at half-time.

As for Ross County, the sooner they forget this one the better especially on the back of being embarrassed by Spartans in the League Cup.
