Burnley have signed midfielder Josh Laurent from Stoke City on a two-year deal, with the option of a third.

The 29-year-old, who has over 150 games under his belt in the Championship, becomes Scott Parker’s 11th new signing of the summer transfer window.

After becoming a Claret, Laurent said: “I’m so happy to be here. I’m really looking forward to meeting my teammates, working under the manager and learning as much as I can.

“It’s an exciting place to be right now and the aim for us is promotion and I want to be a part of that, it’s really exciting.”

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Leicester are exploring a late move for Crystal Palace striker Odsonne Edouard.

Foxes boss Steve Cooper has wanted an extra forward and Leicester are seeing if a deal is possible.

It is unclear whether it is permanent or a loan at this stage and it would certainly be too late for any debut against Aston Villa in the Premier League tomorrow.

Edouard has scored 21 goals in 103 appearances since joining from Celtic in 2021.

Leicester signed Genk attacking midfielder Bilal El Khannouss for £21m on Thursday and had been content with their business but a deal for Edouard could go to the wire.

The deal is yet to be completed but talks are advanced for a deal around £3.5m with further add-ons being discussed.

The Argentina international, 28, was told today in manager Ange Postecoglou's press conference that he had no future in North London and would not play if he chose to stay.

He also has just one year remaining on his contract having joined in 2019 from Paris Saint-Germain but via a loan spell at Betis.

Hull have agreed a £4.5m deal with Norwich to sign winger Abu Kamara.

The 21-year-old handed in a transfer request earlier this month and there had been interest from Luton and Oxford.

But the England Under-20 international has always preferred to join the Tigers and they are close to getting their man.

BBC Sport football news reporter on BBC Radio 5 Live

Ivan Toney was wanting that [big Premier League] move.

He is faced with a choice. Toney is getting a huge offer and it's his only offer on the table. Or, does he sit at Brentford and wait for a free transfer?

His age is a problem - all the big clubs go for young players now.

As a Brentford season ticket holder, I can’t understand why more Premier League teams haven’t come in for Toney. A proven goalscorer can make all the difference for a team like Arsenal or Man United. The last full season he played, he scored 20 for a Brentford side that didn’t generate many chances. The guy has serious quality as well as steel. Is there some kind of bias against him because he went through the lower leagues?

  9. 'Sterling is likely to stay at Chelsea'published at 18:43 British Summer Time 30 August

On Chelsea negotiating deals for Jadon Sancho and Victor Osimhen...

Certainly they are negotiating for both of them, a dual negotiation.

Sancho is certainly on their radar and it's a bit of a shock to me. Osimhen is more the forward they need.

I think Raheem Sterling is likely to stay at Chelsea. The wages he's on are really high.

The teams he has been linked with - Arsenal and Manchester United - are struggling to pay those wages. Chelsea will have to pay him to leave and then a team needs to pay his wages to get him in.

Wolves have agreed to take Ajax winger Carlos Forbs on loan.

The club also have an option to buy the 20-year-old for 13.5m euros next summer and he adds to Gary O'Neil's squad after the sale of Pedro Neto to Chelsea.

Forbs joined Ajax from Manchester City in 2023 without making a senior appearance for City. He made 37 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring three times, and has featured in six games for Ajax this term.

Meanwhile, midfielder Andre's £21m move from Fluminense is due to be completed this evening, while winger Daniel Podence is heading to Al-Shebab in Saudi Arabia for £5m and striker Fabio Silva is joining Las Palmas on loan.

Wolves would still like to bring in a centre-back before the deadline.

  11. 'Everton is a big club'published at 18:37 British Summer Time 30 August

Orel Mangala joins Everton on loan

Orel Mangala speaking to Everton TV: "I feel really happy to be here and I can't wait to get started. Everton is a big club.

"When I’ve played against Everton in the past, I’ve always felt there is a big fanbase here with a lot of passion for their club so it was an easy decision for me to come here.

"I think I'm someone who is composed on the ball. I like to link up play in the midfield between the defensive players and the attack - hopefully a bit of a balance of everything.

"I’m feeling good and I’m ready to go. I can’t wait to meet the fans at Goodison and to start my journey here.

"I want to help make it a special last season at Goodison and to help the club reach our goals. Up the Toffees!"

A lot of people criticising Ivan Toney for his Saudi move which feels unfair - this isn't a Premier League lifer, he hasn't been on crazy money (by football standards) for the bulk of his career. With three to four peak years left in him - now is a good time time to cash out while his stock is high. Best of luck to him.

Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney and Napoli's Victor Osimhen are linked with moves to Saudi club Al-Ahli.

We understand that Saudi Pro League clubs can register 10 non-Saudi players as part of their 25-man squads. Two of which have to be born in 2003 or after.

The Saudi Pro League transfer deadline is officially 6 October in Fifa's calendar but individual leagues can bring it forward.

As a result, we understand it will be 2 September.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed England defender Marc Guehi will not be leaving the club today.

Newcastle had four bids for the 24-year-old turned down, the most recent worth up to £65m.

Guehi has two years left on his contract and Glasner was reluctant to lose another defender after Joachim Andersen was sold to Fulham for about £30m.

Hull City have signed attacking midfielder Kasey Palmer from Coventry City for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old, who has signed a three-year deal with a club option of a further year, has made 198 Championship appearances for six different clubs.

He played for England up to under-21s, with whom he won the 2016 Toulon Tournament, before electing to represent Jamaica and has earned nine caps, including three at the 2024 Copa America.

Palmer told the Hull City website: “I’m buzzing it’s finally done and all agreed and I can’t wait to get going.

"The owner is ambitious and the club has shown its ambition with the signings they’ve made. Hopefully, it can go in a positive way this year and we can achieve what we want to achieve."
