  1. Arsenal move for Sterling ticks all the boxespublished at 20:16 British Summer Time 30 August

    Alex Howell
    BBC football news reporter

Raheem Sterling is understood to be open to the move to Arsenal because of how attractive the clubs position is.

The Gunners are in the Champions League and hope to be challenging for the title again this season.

Sterling is already based in London and knows manager Mikel Arteta well from his time at Manchester City.

I think Erik ten Hag was talking a load of rubbish when he said he was disappointed at Scott McTominay's departure.

McTominay has given everything to Manchester United and whenever there has been a chance to leave him out, Ten Hag has.

He keeps getting treated like the homegrown player rather than the player he is. The manager has not treated him right.

I get certain other players have to play at times - but McTominay has not been treated right.

Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler said: "This is an opportunity for Mo to play again in the Bundesliga, an environment he knows well from his time with Dortmund and Stuttgart.

"We wish him all the best for his future and thank him for his efforts during his time with the club."

  8. Sterling to Arsenal?published at 19:56 British Summer Time 30 August

Some potentially huge news from our football news reporters...

Arsenal are in talks to sign Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling.

The 29-year-old is believed to be keen on a move across London which could take the form of a loan deal.

The main complication involved in the talks is in how to cover the England international's £300,000-a-week wages.

It may require all three parties of Sterling, Arsenal and Chelsea coming to an agreement.

Fulham striker Jay Stansfield has agreed personal terms ahead of a potentially record-breaking move back to Birmingham City.

The 21-year-old is close to a return to St Andrew's for a reported £10m, which would break the League One transfer record.

He scored against the Blues in Fulham's 2-0 Carabao Cup win at St Andrew's on Tuesday but is now due to join the club permanently.

Stansfield scored 12 Championship goals while on loan at Birmingham as they were relegated last season and won the club's Player of the Year award.

    Michael Brown
Former Tottenham and Man City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Chelsea have set out their stall for the Raheem Sterling situation but I think they have maybe picked the wrong player to it with. There are certain players you can try to manipulate and there are others you can't. Raheem is very headstrong, he understands where he is at and what he wants.

If he feels like he is being treated wrongly, he will sit and wait. He will not just leave for nothing or to the wrong place.

Chelsea are taking the scatter gun approach to transfers. At this point it would be a headline if a player hadn’t been approached by them.

  12. 'Getting Osimhen for £65m would be some deal'published at 19:45 British Summer Time 30 August

    Don Hutchison
Former Scotland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Victor Osimhen is a player that in the current market is probably valued at well over £100m. He is really unlucky that at the minute because of PSR and financial fair play, the money is not around to buy him at his actual value.

If I was talking to one of the top clubs, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle, maybe Manchester United, not Manchester City because they have Erling Haaland, but the rest I would be telling them to snap him up.

Getting him for £65m would be some deal, yes there are then the wages to consider but my word he is a good player.

  13. Sancho impassepublished at 19:41 British Summer Time 30 August

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

No sooner has word come out of Chelsea than it is down to Manchester United to make the next move around the future of Jadon Sancho than the message comes straight back from Old Trafford that as far as they are concerned, it is the other way round.

There is clearly a game of brinkmanship going on with Sancho stuck in the middle.

United have been consistent in saying they want an obligation to buy to be included in any loan.
