Selling McTominay is such a shame. There are so many other players that ought to be leaving Manchester United, but the club can’t get rid. Instead a player who has never given less than 100% is sold because it’s a win for Financial Fair Play. The club will regret it.

"I’m very pleased with this signing," said Brentford head coach Thomas Frank on the signing of Jayden Meghoma.

"Jayden is an England youth international and one of the biggest left-back talents this country has.

"Again, we had competition from other clubs, so we are definitely doing something right.

"I like Jayden’s offensive ability - he is quick, has good one-on-one skill and can cross – and he has good defensive ability as well. He is adaptable and can play outside or inside full-back.

"There is still a lot he can learn, but Jayden is a player we have big belief in. He can help us this season and in the future."

Letting McTominay go is by far the worst decision Utd have made this window! Fair enough we need money and more world class players but he was arguably utd’s best player last few years always stepped up when needed.

Raheem Sterling and Mikel Arteta have a good personal relationship, Arteta spoke about that earlier on in the week - Arsenal will end up getting a top Premier League player.

To add someone of Sterling's calibre, who has won the Premier League, it is another Premier League winner in the dressing room and Arteta knows Sterling won't disrupt the dressing room.

Paul: Wouldn’t have picked him but sterling coming to us makes sense if the wages can be sorted. Arsenal need another attacking option and Chelsea don’t want him but any chance they had of getting a decent fee for him ended with their boss openly saying he wasn’t wanted

Rezaa: Sterling to Arsenal on loan could be a decent deal. We need cover for Saka and with Martinelli inconsistent and Jesus constantly injured, the move makes sense.

  15. DONE DEAL - Liverpool's Phillips joins Derby (loan)published at 20:31 British Summer Time 30 August

Derby County have signed Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips on a season-long loan.

  16. Gilmour to Napoli?published at 20:30 British Summer Time 30 August

    Simon Stone & Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport

Billy Gilmour’s on-off move to Napoli is back on.

The Brighton midfielder has been a long-term target for the Italian club.

However, Brighton were resistant to letting Gilmour leave and that attitude hardened after new signing Matt O’Riley suffered a serious ankle injury during the midweek EFL Cup win over Crawley that requires surgery.

Napoli were insistent they still wanted the Scotland international though and Brighton have eventually relented.

Although the deal is not completed yet, sources on both sides believe it is more likely to happen than not.

Gilmour remains a popular figure at the Amex and Brighton believe it would be difficult to keep the 23-year-old happy given he was probably not going to be a regular starter under new boss Fabian Hurzeler.

I genuinely can't believe in a world full of 50-100+ million pound players, we have managed to pull off getting McTominay for 25 million! Our midfield has looked flat and hopefully him and Gilmour can bring an attacking spark we so desperately need

"Frank has been an important player during our last three seasons in the Premier League," said Brentford manager Thomas Frank.

"He has been a big part of our success, and I can’t praise him enough for that in every aspect.

"Frank wants to play week in, week out as a starter; this is a good opportunity for him to do that.

"We have a lot of young midfielders who also need minutes, so this is a good loan for Frank and the club."
