  1. 'Leeds haven't been as dominant'published at 16:14 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Leeds 1-0 Oxford

    Leigh Bromby
Former Leeds defender on BBC Radio Leeds

Leeds haven't started this second half with the same dominance.

Going in at 1-0 down Oxford will still feel they're in this, they've had joy from set-pieces and they will be looking to try and get as many of those situations as possible.

This feels like it could go a way that Leeds don't want it to.

  2. Postpublished at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Cardiff 0-0 Sheff Utd

A point today for Cardiff wouldn't be a bad result for Cardiff by any means.

However, results elsewhere mean that it would see them spending Christmas in the relegation zone.

Could they yet spring a real surprise and inflict a first defeat since October on the league leaders?

Yakou Meite sees a low shot turned around the post by Blades goalkeeper Michael Cooper.

  3. Postpublished at 16:11 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Millwall 0-0 Blackburn

Amario Cozier-Duberry breaks forward for Blackburn but just as he's about to shoot, Millwall's Femi Azeez gets back in excellently to make the tackle.

Azeez ran more than 60 yards to get back and thwart the Brighton loanee. Great defending.

  4. goal

GOAL: QPR 1-1 Prestonpublished at 16:11 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Rayan Kolli (50 mins)

Nothing less than Queens Park Rangers deserve.

Paul Smyth creates the goal down the right-hand side with an incisive cross and Rayan Kolli slots the ball home.

He got just enough on the strike, which was squeezed through the legs of Middlesbrough keeper Sol Brynn.

  5. Postpublished at 16:10 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Burnley 1-0 Watford

Watford do come almighty close to a leveller as Vakoun Bayo tries to latch onto a flick on from close-range but can't quite connect with his outstretched boot.

Burnley can clear but a sight of goal for the visitors.

  6. goal

GOAL: Plymouth 1-1 Middlesbroughpublished at 16:09 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Jonny Howson (50 mins)

Middlesbrough's captain Jonny Howson brings Michael Carrick's side level.

Winger Ben Doak sent a dangerous cross in and Plymouth could only clear it as far as the experienced midfielder.

He connects cleanly, but the deflection in off a defender helps the ball past Pilgrims keeper Daniel Grimshaw.

  7. 'Another injury for Cardiff'published at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Cardiff 0-0 Sheff Utd

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Cardiff City Stadium

Some groans around Cardiff City Stadium as another injury befalls the home side.

Chris Willock has gone off just a minute into the second half against Sheffield United.

He'll be joining David Turnbull, Aaron Ramsey, Kion Etete, Perry Ng, Callum O'Dowda, Isaak Davies and Joe Ralls in the treatment room.

  8. Postpublished at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Burnley 1-0 Watford

A reminder that Burnley have not conceded more than one goal in a game so far this season and have kept 13 clean sheets.

It makes you think that even rescuing a draw would be an impressive achievement for Watford in this second half.

Can the Hornets get back into it?

  9. goal

GOAL: Sunderland 1-1 Norwichpublished at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Dan Ballard (47 mins)

Sunderland level up in double-quick time!

Defender Dan Ballard hadn't scored a goal for Sunderland all calendar year until last Saturday and now he's got two in two.

The Northern Ireland international heads in to put the Black Cats back on track to retain their unbeaten home record.

  10. Postpublished at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Plymouth 1-0 Middlesbrough

This lively game picks up at a similar pace to which we saw before the break, as Plymouth midfielder Darko Gyabi sends an acrobatic shot just wide.

At the other end, Middlesbrough winger Finn Azaz bends a curling strike just past the post.

  11. KICK-OFFpublished at 16:04 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

A final 45 minutes before Christmas begins for the 14 sides in Championship action this afternoon.

Plenty of time to become a Santa or Scrooge...

  12. As it stands at the bottom...published at 15:55 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

Plymouth kicked off bottom, but Lewis Gibson's goal against Middlesbrough has taken them out of the drop zone in the live table.

Oxford, trailing at Leeds, fall to the foot.

  13. As it stands at the top...published at 15:52 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

Burnley and Leeds are both in front by a single goal at the break.

Leaders Sheffield United are being held at Cardiff.

It means just two points separate the top three as it stands... still plenty of time for things to change of course.

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Leeds 1-0 Oxford

So far, so good for second-placed Leeds.

Dan James' early goal has them in the lead at the break.

Oxford United, with new boss Gary Rowett watching on from the stands, are bottom of the league as it stands.

  15. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    QPR 0-1 Preston

Queens Park Rangers started this game the better side, with left-back Kenneth Paal hitting the crossbar, but Preston North End's opening goal knocked them off course.

There was some controversy about Milutin Osmajic's strike as it came just after QPR defender Steve Cook had gone down injured, right in front of the Preston striker.

Other than that, there have been few clear chances, with each side having one shot on target.

  16. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Plymouth 1-0 Middlesbrough

Lewis Gibson celebrates scoringImage source, Rex Features

Plymouth defender Lewis Gibson's first goal for the club is the difference between these two sides at the break.

Wayne Rooney's side - who are currently bottom of the Championship - have not played like a side who have lost their last four league games.

They are worthy of their lead, with Ryan Hardie and Darko Gyabi also going close for the hosts, while Michael Carrick's Boro team have shown little attacking intent.

  17. Postpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Plymouth 1-0 Middlesbrough

Wayne Rooney's Plymouth Argyle are almost two goals in front.

Mustapha Bundu finds half a yard of space inside the area, but Middlesbrough keeper Sol Brynn is alert to the danger and smothers his effort.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Burnley 1-0 Watford

Burnley celebrate scoringImage source, PA Media

Burnley hold a narrow lead at the break.

Jaidon Anthony's excellent volley at the back post after good work by Josh Brownhill separates the two sides.

The Clarets are deservedly ahead and Watford have struggled to create at Turf Moor.

Scott Parker's side boast the meanest defence and if they can keep that record going, another three points beckons.

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Sunderland 0-1 Norwich

If Sunderland are to keep their unbeaten home record going they'll have to come back from behind today.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Millwall 0-0 Blackburn

Another tight affair involving Millwall and it's goalless at the end of the first half.

The Lions have created the better of the chances with Femi Azeez going close, Japhet Tanganga seeing an effort cleared off the line and Macaulay Langstaff firing into the side-netting.

Blackburn have now gone five-and-a-half games without conceding a goal but they'll need to step it up to make it seven wins on the bounce.

Stand-in Millwall boss David Livermore will be pleased with what he's seen.
