There was another big derby game over in Istanbul and our very own Simon Stone was there to see it.

Simon interviewed Besiktas boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this week as he prepared to face another former Manchester United manager - Jose Mourinho.

Solskjaer's side claimed a 1-0 away win over Mourinho's Fenerbahce, meaning that in his 15 games in charge of Besiktas, the Norwegian has beaten both Fenerbahce and leaders Galatasaray.

Sunday's win could also have ended any remaining hope Mourinho might have of closing his debut season in Turkey as a league champion. With four games left, Fenerbahce now trail Galatasaray by eight points, with Besiktas a further 20 points back in fourth.

The Scottish Premiership title has also been decided already but champions Celtic still played out a hard-fought derby with Old Firm rivals Rangers on Sunday.

Celtic came from behind at Ibrox to deny Rangers a third straight victory over their Glasgow rivals.

Nicolas Raskin had an early header ruled out for offside before Cyriel Dessers netted his 25th goal of the season for Rangers just before half-time.

Republic of Ireland forward Adam Idah then levelled for the visitors just before the hour mark but Celtic have now gone a record seven straight games without winning at Ibrox.

Women's Super League: Chelsea on brink of unbeaten season

Catarina Macario's first-half penalty was enough to earn Chelsea victory against Tottenham and put the newly-crowned Women's Super League champions on the brink of an unbeaten top-flight season.

Sonia Bompastor made nine changes to the Chelsea side that beat Manchester United on Wednesday to secure a sixth straight WSL title, and that showed as the visitors lacked intensity and fluidity in the first half.

But Chelsea grew into the game as the half progressed and capitalised on their first real moment of quality.

Macario showed quick feet to side-step Molly Bartrip just inside the penalty area before she was sandwiched by the Spurs defender and Ashleigh Neville, and the United States attacker sent Lize Kop the wrong way from the spot.

Chelsea have now won 18 of their 21 league games this season, drawing the other three, and host Liverpool in their final league game next Saturday.

  5. WSL champions Chelsea also given guard of honourpublished at 07:56 British Summer Time

And the other guard of honour was at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, for Women's Super League champions Chelsea.

Sonia Bompastor's side secured a sixth straight WSL title on Wednesday and remained on course for an unbeaten league campaign after winning 1-0 at Spurs.

  6. Chelsea give champions Liverpool guard of honourpublished at 07:53 British Summer Time

Elsewhere in London, there were not one but two guards of honour on Sunday.

Chelsea showed their respect to Liverpool after they clinched the Premier League title last weekend to become English champions for a record-equalling 20th time.

I get the feeling Liverpool fans will remind us of that fact a lot more before this season is through.

  7. Struggling London rivals play out tame derbypublished at 07:43 British Summer Time

There was no change at the bottom as West Ham remain one spot above the relegation zone after their draw at home to Tottenham - one point and one place below Spurs.

The visitors had Max Kilman to thank for gifting them a 15th-minute opener as Mathys Tel nicked the ball from the Hammers defender and squared for Wilson Odobert to score.

Jarrod Bowen then equalised 13 minutes later through his 10th Premier League goal of the season.

The West Ham captain ran on to a through-ball from Aaron Wan-Bissaka and smartly finished through the legs of Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, and it remained honours even in a tame London derby.

Race for Europe - how it stands

Top half of Premier League table after games on 4 May 2025

Newcastle's draw at Brighton and Chelsea's win over Liverpool did not change the standings in the top five of the Premier League but it means that the Magpies and the Blues are now level in the race for Champions League qualification.

They both have 63 points with three games left, with Newcastle above them on goal difference in fourth place.

Meanwhile, Brighton actually stayed in 10th place but their point meant that Fulham slipped below them and out of the top half, while Brentford leapfrogged them both following their thrilling win over Manchester United.

  9. Bees fight back to win thrillerpublished at 07:30 British Summer Time

    Brentford 4-3 Man Utd

Brentford kept their hopes of European qualification alive by coming from behind to beat Manchester United.

Mason Mount gave the visitors the lead with just his second goal for the club, but Brentford equalised when captain Mikkel Damsgaard saw his cross deflect in off United defender Luke Shaw.

The Bees took the lead six minutes later in controversial fashion, when Kevin Schade towered over Tyler Fredricson before the Germany forward headed in again 20 minutes from time from a Bryan Mbeumo cross.

Michael Kayode played in Yoane Wissa to make it 4-1 but a stunning long-range effort from Alejandro Garnacho gave United a sliver of hope, before substitute Amad Diallo ensured it was a nervy finish as he struck five minutes into seven added for stoppage time.

  10. Seagulls and Magpies stay putpublished at 07:23 British Summer Time

    Brighton 1-1 Newcastle

It's as you were for both Newcastle and Brighton in their respective challenges for Europe after Alexander Isak's late penalty.

With stoppage time approaching, Brighton were on course for a narrow win after Yankuba Minteh scored against his former club.

Newcastle had been awarded two penalties that were overturned by the video assistant referee (VAR) before being handed a third when Yasin Ayari used his arm to block Fabian Schar's free-kick.

After a lengthy review, the on-field decision stood and Isak coolly converted to take his tally in the league to 23 goals for the season.

A draw was fully deserved for Newcastle as they remain fourth, while Brighton stay 10th.

Chelsea strengthened their bid for a place in next season's Champions League with victory against newly-crowned Premier League champions Liverpool.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot made six changes from the side that beat Tottenham Hotspur to clinch the title at Anfield, resulting in a display lacking some of their traditional intensity until it was too late.

Enzo Fernandez put Chelsea on the road to victory, steering in Pedro Neto's cross after only three minutes.

Chelsea extended their advantage after 56 minutes when Cole Palmer's run created confusion in the Liverpool box, resulting in Virgil van Dijk blasting an attempted clearance against Jarell Quansah and into his own net.

Palmer then hit the post late on, before Van Dijk headed Liverpool back into contention five minutes from time.

It was Palmer who wrapped up Chelsea's win by ending a sequence of 18 games without a goal from the penalty spot after Quansah fouled Moises Caicedo.
