  1. 'If you offered Madrid a point before they would have taken it'published at 20:51 Greenwich Mean Time

    HT: Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

If you offered Real Madrid a point before the game I think they would have taken it given the injuries that they have.

They have lost a couple of games already in this new format and have got plenty of work to do.

  2. 'More to come from Liverpool'published at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time

    HT: Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Liverpool have been the better team, there have been a couple of Thiabaut Courtois saves from Darwin Nunez. Caoimhin Kelleher hasn't been worked at all, but you just never know with Real Madrid.

It has been ok from Liverpool but you feel like there is more to come.

Mbappe looks to pass the ball whenever he gets it, even if he's in his favoured wide position. That's a sign he's not confident; no real ambition to burst past people and have a shot.

Lucas Digne just tried to pass it over the wall and into the goal. It really didn't need that much power. It just needed the precision and it wasn't far away at all.

  5. Gittens scores again for Dortmundpublished at 20:47 Greenwich Mean Time

Dinamo Zagreb 0-1 Borussia Dortmund, PSV 0-2 Shakhtar Donetsk

Jamie Gittens has put Borussia Dortmund in the lead with a wonderful hit from the edge of the box. That is the 20-year-old Englishman's fourth Champions League goal of the season.

Elsewhere, Shakhtar Donetsk have doubled their lead through Oleksandr Zubkov.

Unai Emery would have been worried in recent weeks seeing his Aston Villa side not score enough and their defence conceding. Most of their attacking players have gone through a lean patch at the same time, which is unfortunate for them.

  7. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:47 Greenwich Mean Time

    Aston Villa 0-0 Juventus

The best chance of the game for sure as Villa's Lucas Digne clips a free-kick off the crossbar. Keeper wasn't getting near it.

  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:46 Greenwich Mean Time

    Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid

An entertaining but goalless first half comes to an end.

  9. 'Mbappe hasn't tried to run Bradley on the outside'published at 20:46 Greenwich Mean Time

    Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

One thing that has surprised me so far this evening is Kylian Mbappe v Conor Bradley. Mbappe hasn't tried to run Bradley on the outside even once. Bradley has played him well so far.

  10. Postpublished at 20:46 Greenwich Mean Time

Brugge must wonder about British football- Mings for Villa picks up the ball in his own area for a pen. Then Celtic score bizarre own goal.. "can we play brits every week?"

Good tackle from Virgil van Dijk to stop Kylian Mbappe aka the poor man's Brennan Johnson/Timo Werner/James Maddison in the box.

RE Sol 20:37 - that has to be one of the worst takes I’ve heard. I will just assume you are joking but if you are serious then you need a quiet word with yourself. None of them will ever be close to Mbappe. Mbappe may not be in form right now but you’d have him over any of them 3 in a heartbeat.

  14. 'Sense something is going to happen for Liverpool'published at 20:42 Greenwich Mean Time

    Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

The longer this half has gone on you sense something is going to happen for Liverpool. They are the team in the ascendancy. And it all stemmed from that strong Conor Bradley challenge.

  18. 'Brilliant from Watkins'published at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time

    Aston Villa 0-0 Juventus

    Lucy Ward
Former Leeds striker on TNT Sports

That was brilliant from Ollie Watkins. It was absolutely played into him with pace. His first touch was brilliant, but he will be disappointed he didn't score there. Juventus goalkeeper Michele di Gregorio did really well.
