    MK Dons 1-0 Gillingham

MK Dons are right on this in the early stages.

Will Collar scuffs an effort wide of the target.

Just going back to the goal, the bad news for Laurence Maguire is it does look like it will go down as a Sam Gale own goal.

Mind you, that's not exactly great news for the Gillingham man either!

  2. 'Not an ideal start for Gillingham'published at 12:43 BST 4 October

    MK Dons 1-0 Gillingham

    Peter Lloyd
    BBC Radio Kent summariser

We know we have resilience to get back from these situations, but once again it is not ideal for Gillingham to go down so early.

Although Gillingham are disappointed they have gone down so early on, we still have plenty of time to get back in to it.

  3. Postpublished at 12:43 BST 4 October

    Wycombe 0-0 Barnsley

Wycombe's Connor Taylor is the recipient of quite the whack from Reyes Cleary's cross into the box.

He takes all the power and hits the deck but is bouncing back up as if the ball is made of bubble wrap.

A hardened lot these League One defenders.

  4. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 12:42 BST 4 October

    Doncaster 0-0 Burton

Luke Molyneux smacks an early effort wide for Doncaster but Burton switch to the other end and come even closer.

Jake Beesley feeds leading scorer Charlie Webster and his effort pings off the crossbar for the Brewers.

  5. goal

GOAL: Newport 0-1 Swindonpublished at 12:41 BST 4 October

    Ollie Palmer (10 mins)

    Deadlock broken.

Swindon are flying in the league and they've certainly started off here in the same vain.

Finley Munroe whips a free-kick into the box, and Ollie Palmer is there with a lovely flicked finish past Nik Tzanev.

  6. Postpublished at 12:39 BST 4 October

    Newport 0-0 Swindon

Swindon are enjoying more of the ball between these two sides at a windy Rodney Parade.

They carve out an early opportunity but Finley Munroe's effort is comfortably saved by Nik Tzanev.

  7. 'Newport are really up for this'published at 12:38 BST 4 October

    Newport 0-0 Swindon

    Paul Bodin
Former Swindon Defender on BBC Radio Wiltshire

Newport are showing that they are really up for this in the early stages.

The dream would be to get on the front foot and for Swindon to put some pressure on and grab an early goal.

He wasn't even supposed to be starting the game but e thinks he's given MK Dons the lead!

Maguire was a late call into the MK Dons starting line up because of an injury in the warm up to Scott Hogan.

Calum Paterson sends in a cross and Maguire meets it at the far post - Sam Gale deflects it in.

The Dons man will want the goal but it'll go down as an OG.

  9. Postpublished at 12:37 BST 4 October

    Wycombe 0-0 Barnsley

Barnsley have the first attack of the match as Reyes Cleary tries to swing one into goal but Connor Taylor is up high to clear it out of play.

The home side manage to clear the resulting corner but Barnsley still have the ball and no doubt will be looking to carve out a path once again.

  10. Postpublished at 12:36 BST 4 October

    MK Dons 0-0 Gillingham

A good run down the left sends Nathaniel Mendez-Laing haring away for MK Dons.

He cuts the ball back but Jon Mellish's effort is a scuffed one and it trickles into the welcoming arms of Glenn Morris in the Gillingham goa.

MK Dons v Gillingham (12:30 BST)

BBC Radio 5 Live reporter at Stadium MK

Gillingham’s assistant Richard Dobson wants to keep things as normal as possible as he steps up to lead the team as Gareth Ainsworth recovers from heart surgery.

Dobson has told Sky television this morning that the operation Ainsworth had yesterday was a success.

Gillingham - who are without key man Bradley Dack today - will now look to bounce back from their first defeat in 22 games against an MK Dons side who have concerned their fan base with poor home form under Paul Warne.

Luke Offord and Jon Mellish return to the side and Liam Kelly also gets a start.

Gillingham make three changes with Bradley Dack and Jonny Smith both missing from the squad and Max Clark among the substitutes.

Into the Gills line up come Ethan Coleman, Aaron Rowe and Shadrach Ogie.

Given the experience of their managers and size and experience of their respective squads it's no surprise to find these two sides among the promotion favourites.

What is surprising is MK Dons' sudden slide down the table with a five game unbeaten start followed by just one win from their past five outings and three successive home defeats.

Last weekend's win at Shrewsbury did at least stem the blood loss but Stadium MK has become a happy hunting ground for visitors with the home side winning only one of their past nine.

"If I could I'd flip the form and be horrific on the road and amazing at home and pick up all the wins," boss Paul Warne told BBC Three Counties Radio.

"This is where most of our fans see us so this is their church and I do feel through mistakes of all of us or performance of the opposition we haven't been dominant at home."

Gillingham will tackle the roundabouts of Milton Keynes fresh from their first league defeat in 22 outings - last weekend's 1-0 reverse at home to Harrogate certainly had a few pundits scratching their heads.

Boss Gareth Ainsworth remains absent after recent heart surgery with assistant Richard Dobson running things for now.

"Over the next month his health is the most important thing. I need everyone pulling in the same direction so we can keep any pressure away from him," said Dobson.

Newport boss David Hughes makes three changes to his side after their 4-1 defeat at Chesterfield last weekend. Captain James Clarke returns to the starting line-up while Cameron Evans also starts. Cameron Antwi is named as a substitute.

Striker Courtney Baker-Richardson gets the nod up front alongside Nathanial Opoku while while Bobby Kamwa and Michael Reindorf drop to the bench.

Defender Ryan Tafazolli returns for Swindon and starts with Will Wright and Tom Wilson-Brown dropping to the bench.

Tom Nichols and Darren Oldaker also make the Robins' starting XI while Ollie Palmer, Billy Bodin and loan signing Princewill Ehibhatiomhan are named among today's subs.

    Newport v Swindon (12:30 BST)

    Ian HollowayImage source, Rex Features

Second-placed Swindon make the trip to south Wales to face League Two strugglers Newport and have the opportunity go top ahead of the 15:00 BST kick-offs.

The Robins sealed a 2-0 win against Bromley last Saturday thanks to goals from Ollie Palmer, who got his first for the club and the league’s leading goalscorer Aaron Drinan.

Ian Holloway’s side have a good recent record against today’s opponents having picked up wins over Newport in their past two meetings.

Newport are desperate for a win after their miserable run continued as they fell to a ninth loss in 10 games with a heavy 4-1 defeat at Chesterfield last time out.

The Exiles, who sit just above the drop zone, have only picked up just one win so far this campaign and have failed to win any of their past 10 home league games since a 3-0 win over Harrogate in March. That is the Welsh side’s longest run without victory on home soil since a 13-match stint between March and October 2016.

Doncaster have rung the changes from their defeat at Luton last weekend with five alterations to the starting line up.

Sean Grehan makes his first league start for Rovers while Tom Nixon, Ben Close, Jordan Gibson and Joe Sbarra also get starts.

George Broadbent and Glenn Middleton are on the bench.

Burton skipper Udoka Godwin-Malife returns to the starting line up having been a substitute for the midweek win at Cardiff but forward Fabio Tavares misses out.

Doncaster Rovers v Burton Albion (12:30 BST)

For time immemorial football in England has traditionally been played on a Saturday.

Yes we now have Sunday lunchtimes, teatimes and Monday nights but for those of us long enough in the tooth, Saturday was the one we built our week around.

Somebody really then should tell Burton.

The Brewers have failed to win any of their past seven league games on a Saturday and haven't scored in the past four.

Yet, for all that, their midweek win at promotion favourites Cardiff has given them cause for hope while also lifting them off the bottom of the table.

This might be a good time for Gary Bowyer to being taking his side to Doncaster as they look to end their weekend hoodoo.

Rovers find themselves on a three-game losing streak and with only two victories from their nine league meetings against Burton.

Home form is keeping them in the play-off frame for now with only four sides having won more on their own turf.
