Born in Lincoln in 1946. My father took me to every Lincoln City home game. I still follow Lincoln and am delighted to see their recent progress. In my 79th year, I think it's time I took a trip to see a Lincoln City FC home game again this season.

Thanks for that lovely message John - hope you get along to see them soon!

  2. 'The makings of an exciting game'published at 14:44 BST 4 October

    Lincoln v Exeter (15:00 BST)

    Naz Premji
BBC Final Score commentator at LNER Stadium

Lincoln City could return to the top of League One with victory over Exeter City this afternoon. The Imps train is certainly on track at the LNER Stadium and Michael Skubala is working wonders with his squad.

The former Leeds United coach has certainly taken to management very well and his team play an exciting and effective brand of football. Today's visitors are well settled in League One with this being their fourth campaign at this level.

The aim for them every season is to make sure they stay in the division and anything else is pretty much a bonus. The Grecians have made an OK, if not spectacular start to the season, and have beaten Peterborough with ease but lost at Stevenage, who like today's hosts, are flying high.

This has the makings of an exciting game and potentially lots of goals!

  3. Cardiff and Orient aiming to get back on trackpublished at 14:42 BST 4 October

Cardiff v Leyton Orient (15:00 BST)

    Cardiff City Stadium

The sun is peaking out at a blustery Cardiff City Stadium where both Cardiff and Leyton Orient are hungry for three points to get their seasons back on track.

City’s defeat midweek against, then bottom placed Burton, was their second home defeat in a row. Whilst Orient, last year's play-off runners-up, have only one win in the last six in the league.

That said, the Bluebirds fans are relaxed and confident ahead of this one, knowing the young Cardiff team full of home grown talent, have only conceded six in ten matches. Three of those against Bradford two weeks ago.

  4. Proud Revell faces tough Luton task to reach the toppublished at 14:39 BST 4 October

    Stevenage v Luton (15:00 BST)

    Media caption,

Boro manager Alex Revell looking ahead to the big game against local rivals Luton Town.

Seven wins out of nine league games has put Stevenage in reaching distance of the top of the table this afternoon - and boss Alex Revell couldn't be more pleased.

"They're proud days as a manager to watch, with everyone buying into it," Revell told BBC Three Counties Radio.

"The people have turned up because of what they've done [the players] and what they've been doing. For the fans to see them work hard for the badge means a lot."

But in order to find themselves at the very apex of the league, they will need to beat their local rivals Luton, a side who were in the Premier League just two years ago and looking for an immediate bounce back to the Championship.

Plus the Hatters are led by Matt Bloomfield, Revell's former team-mate and a coach who took Wycombe Wanderers to the top of the table last season before departing for Kenilworth Road.

  5. Terriers hounding Hatterspublished at 14:38 BST 4 October

Huddersfield Town v Stockport County (15:00 BST)

    Media caption,

Huddersfield manager Lee Grant says they'll stick to their playing principles against Stockport.

These two haven't played each other much over recent years - their fortunes were on a very different trajectory.

While Huddersfield were 'enjoying' a couple of seasons in the Premier League, Stockport had to rebuild all the way from the National League North but there they both are on equal footing.

Not that West Yorkshire has ever been a particularly happy hunting ground for the Hatters - their last win was back in April 2000 - and it'll take something to come away with a win today.

Huddersfield are unbeaten at home with four wins and four clean sheets while only the leaders Bradford (20) and Lincoln (17) have scored more than the Terriers 16 goals so far this season.

Mind you, Stockport have cracked home 15 of their own, the trouble is the 13 they've also conceded.

This could be nice and open....so 0-0 it is then!

  6. 'A resolute, determined performance' by Swindonpublished at 14:35 BST 4 October

    FT: Newport 0-1 Swindon

    Paul Bodin
Former Swindon Defender on BBC Radio Wiltshire

It was a resolute, determined performance and it wasn't the best in terms of technical or tactical football.

Swindon worked hard and we had to stick in, stick together and defend right to the very end.

It was just about a deserved three points, and Newport did everything they could. They are still fighting and they are fighting for their league status and if they play like that every week I don't see why they can't stay up.

  7. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:27 BST 4 October

    Doncaster 1-1 Burton

Tyrese Shade's first goal for the club earns Burton a deserved point.

Charlie Webster hit the bar early for the visitors only for them to fall behind to Matty Pearson's header.

Joe Sbarra also had an effort cleared off the line for Doncaster before Burton came roaring back in the second period with Jake Beesley hitting a post and having one kicked off the line.

Webster then had a shot headed off the line by Tom Nixon before Shade controlled well to shoot past Ian Lawlor to lift the Brewers out of the relegation zone, at least for now.

  8. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:25 BST 4 October

    Newport 0-1 Swindon

Back-to-back wins for Swindon who top League Two ahead of the 15:00 BST kick-offs thanks to Ollie Palmer's first half goal. That's two in two for the former Wrexham man who came into the starting XI at the last minute after Aaron Drinan pulled out.

Newport suffer their third defeat on the bounce and have not won at Rodney Parade now in their past 11 attempts. They'll need points soon and fast as they languish above the drop zone.

  9. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:25 BST 4 October

    MK Dons 3-2 Gillingham

MK Dons end a three-game losing run at home and Gillingham suffer back-to-back league defeats for the first time since February.

Sam Gale's own goal gave MK Dons a half-time lead from a first half in which Gillingham failed to have a single effort on target.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Calum Paterson added second-half goals to seemingly secure the three points only for Seb Palmer-Houlden and Jonny Williams to make it a nervy finish.

  10. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:24 BST 4 October

    Wycombe 2-2 Barnsley

A strong finish for Wycombe means they claw back a two-goal deficit and gain a point at home.

With the Chairboys seemingly unable to pose a threat and Davis Kellior-Dunn producing his magic for Barnsley, it spelt a loss for the hosts.

But Wycombe heated up in the closing stages to find two late goals within five minutes and share the spoils, just in time.

    Alex Lowry (90+3 mins)

    Well, well, well.

Wycombe have turned up right on time as Alex Lowry curls a pretty little strike into the net to find an equaliser.

That's the hosts second shot on target all match and their second goal.

It's all about the chances you take, I guess.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:22 BST 4 October

    MK Dons 3-1 Gillingham

    More rutting in midfield.

Jonathan Leko is cautioned for MK Dons for getting involved in something needless.

  14. Postpublished at 14:20 BST 4 October

Bobby Kamwa is through in the box but Finley Munroe makes a vital tackle.

Great defending there from the Swindon man in these last few minutes.

  15. Postpublished at 14:20 BST 4 October

    There's an additional five minutes.

It's breezy out there but some visiting fans might be starting to sweat a little.

Sam Bell lurks in the right place at the right time to knock in Donnell McNeilly's cross and give his side a chance of maybe salvaging something from this match.

Swindon are just riding the storm, and you can sense that everyone is just getting a bit nervous.

They are close to seeing this through for the three points they need.
