Thanks Thomas. I could do with the FPL pointers.

I, a sports journalist who is paid to inform the nation, am losing each week to my partner who, every time they watch a match, says football would be better off if there were walls around the sideline so the ball never goes out of play.

Plenty of budget in this week's team so goal-magnet Gabriel is in against a Bournemouth side who, despite some fine performances, have failed to score in three of their past four games.

Same as Alexander-Arnold - could get an attacking return and a good shout for a clean sheet so is nailed in this team.

  3. Fernandes due some pointspublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 18 October

Chasing points from United's talisman can be a frustrating experience. You know they are coming at some point, all the underlying data points to FPL points around the corner and yet here he is, entering week eight, with just one return, a measly assist.

Fernandes is symbolic of United's offensive struggles but they face a Brentford side without a clean sheet this season, having just conceded three against struggling Wolves. so there should be goals at Old Trafford.

At 3.2, Fernandes has the highest expected goal involvement (xGI) of any player who is yet to score this season. A goal is coming, my gut can feel it!

  4. Delap delights FPL ownerspublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 18 October

The former Manchester City man is becoming a bit of a talisman for Ipswich. He's scored half their goals this season and has three in his past two games.

Despite a clean sheet last week, Everton's defence has been unrecognisable from the one that kept them up last season and, if Ipswich are going to score, Delap will likely be involved.

  5. FPL tips and team of the weekpublished at 10:45 British Summer Time 18 October

We're all thinking the same thing aren't we? Do you drop Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka to bring Alexander Isak into your Fantasy Football team?

Well, here's the advice from our in-house FPL experts. In fact, let's pick out a few starters...

  6. 'Wilshere's attachment to Arsenal is unique'published at 10:40 British Summer Time 18 October

Finally Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta added on Jack Wilshere: "He has been great, everyone knows about his career and his character, he is a special personality. His attachments to this football club is unique, he had it. He has this aura, charisma and a way with connecting to people. He came here and had a real impact."

  7. 'I would take a lot of pride that a lot of managers would do anything to become the English manager'published at 10:37 British Summer Time 18 October

Bournemouth v Arsenal (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was asked what it says about English coaching as the Football Association could not find an English coach: "I understand opinions and feelings but that is the responsibility for the FA to say 'okay, the first filter is only English managers or the filter is any manager from any country and we select the best for the moment we are in right now'. I understand it can feel sad for some people not to have an English manager there and the history tells you as well how important this could be but I think I would take a lot of pride that a lot of managers would do anything to become the English manager.

"That is related to how we are treated in this country. How much we love the passion, the respect, the history and the way things are done in this country. I can say personally, you feel so related to where you are even though you are not from here. I think that is a huge thing."

And he was also asked if he ever got into international football if he would only want to manage Spain: "No. I tell you right now, the feeling I have this is like home. I have been here 22 years, I have that feeling towards it. I always feel respected, welcome and inspired by this country. The legacy and the history of football and how you get treated daily. As a country you should be so proud of it."

If anyone is still holding on to Alexander Isak in FPL, he's back fit and available.

Howe said: "Alex has trained and trained well, he trained at the start of this week and looked good. He will be in contention for the weekend."

it seems odd that Eddie Howe wasn't interviewed about the England job ! He would have structured all of those talented players into a high energy attacking force and a hard working defence. Why would the FA not speak to him?

  11. Partey is fitpublished at 10:26 British Summer Time 18 October

Bournemouth v Arsenal (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta also gave an update on Thomas Partey: "Thomas is fit, yes."

The manager also added on Bournemouth: "They are very well coached, they are a super intense team, really, really competitive. They have a very clear idea of what they want to do, they should have had very different results in my opinion, especially against the big teams and away from home. They are going to be a big challenge."

  12. 'Tuchel is one of the best coaches in the world'published at 10:22 British Summer Time 18 October

Bournemouth v Arsenal (sat, 17:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was asked about Thomas Tuchel's appointment as England manager: "They [Arsenal players who can compete for Tuchel] are going to learn a lot. He is one of the best coaches in the world in my opinion without a doubt. His experience, the way his teams are set up and very exciting times. I spoke to a few of the players and straight away they had smiles on their faces, that's always a good sign."

  13. 'Hopefully we have some positive news today'published at 10:20 British Summer Time 18 October

Bournemouth v Arsenal (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was also asked about Ben White, Jurrien Timber and Oleksandr Zinchenko: "They are quite close the three of them. Again today we are going to have to try and push and see. We have been struggling for numbers, especially in our right side. But hopefully we have some positive news today and we have some players back tomorrow."

And he added on Kai Havertz progress at the club: "He delivered that day [against Bournemouth]. Everything started to click, since then the story is unbelievable. His involvement in every match and what he produces to help us win matches is incredible and it is very positive.

"I think he is an amazing role model. The way he behaves every day, the way he is as a person, the way he lives his life, how much he loves to play football. Part of that level is to handle and manage difficult situations. I think he is an amazing example of that."

Thank you Anon, a first-time texter.

Eddie Howe also took over a Newcastle side 19th in the table, five points from safety after 11 games. He guided them to 12th, then fourth the following season and an EFL Cup final.

    I'd call that pretty successful.

Anon: With Eddie Howe, people forget he led Bournemouth to 3 promotions. Terrific manager that hopefully can play a role in the future for England.

  16. 'Havertz has been absolutely brilliant'published at 10:14 British Summer Time 18 October

Bournemouth v Arsenal (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta added on Kai Havertz: "He had a few issues and we have been dealing with that. He has been absolutely brilliant. He has very good communication with the national team and the manager.

"We modified everything we could do here and if he trains well today he has a good chance to be fit and available."

And on Martinelli: "Gabi landed yesterday afternoon here so it is a very short time to be with him. Yesterday he went outside to do a little bit and see how he is feeling and today will be another step. [We will see] if we want to take the risk if he is fit because I know what the player is going to say."

Arteta added on Martin Odegaard: "I think he is not going to be fit for this game. Next week will be a different story but again in that late stage of the rehab, where he is at the moment he is already doing a lot of stuff. He needs to clear some markers, he needs to clear some things. He needs to feel comfortable, especially with the ball. I think next week will be crucial to see how close he is."

He has done a few things in the last two days. He wasn't fit enough to play with the national team in the second game but we are hopeful. We have a training session this afternoon, he did some bits yesterday, let's see if he can make it on time."
