Reggie Walsh makes his first start for Chelsea tonight. The 16-year-old Reggie was introduced on the global stage last Thursday as the Blues beat Djurgarden 4-1 in their semi-final first leg.

Still of schoolboy age, he is unable to sign a professional contract until his 17th birthday in October.

But Walsh is now Chelsea's third youngest ever player, behind only midfielder Ian Hamilton and goalkeeper Kingsley Whiffen - who made their debuts in 1967 - having entered the pitch at 3Arena six months and 11 days after his 16th birthday.

Walsh is a technically gifted midfield and has played mostly for the under-18s this season, registering four goals and two assists in 15 games, while also making two appearances for the under-21 side.

He joined Chelsea at the age of seven and progressed through the age groups at Cobham, having grown up in west London. He has represented England too, from the under-15s through to the under-17s.

  3. 'We have to perform here at our house'published at 19:25 British Summer Time 8 May

Man Utd v Athletic Bilbao (20:00 BST)

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim speaking to TNT Sports: "If possible we want to change the beginning of the game tonight, [last week] it was tough on us. We know better in this moment and we are prepared for that I expect a good environment this time in our favour but we really need to be really focussed. Anything can happen and we have to be ready for that."

On Patrick Dorgu's starting: "I have intelligent players, they understand, the main thing is to put them to play again. They already know what to do. Of course we try to help them in the way they receive the ball and the way we build up, the small things, but not in terms of how to deal with the pressure of a big game.

On the absence of the Williams brothers for Athletic: "I think it is always hard. I don't want my team thinking about that. They are two players scoring and assisting in many games for the opponent, we know that. But we don't care who is on the pitch. We have to understand the new players in their positions of course, but we focus on ourselves."

On signing off well at home in this competition: "The performance is important, of course the result on nights like this is more important. Everything is important this season, we need to show passion. It is important to our fans. We have to do something for them. We have to perform here at our house, no matter what we do they show us a lot of passion and support, and tonight we have to give them something."

While Chelsea will be looking to finish off the job against Swedish side Djurgarden, having won 4-1 away in Sweden, the other Conference League semi-final is in the balance.

Real Betis, sixth in La Liga, hold a 2-1 lead and travel to Florence to take on a Fiorentina team that are eighth in Italy's Serie A.

In the first leg in Seville, Abde Ezzalzouli put Betis ahead in the sixth minute, with his effort crashing in off the crossbar and over the line.

Antony, on-loan from Manchester United, doubled the side's lead before Fiorentina captain Luca Ranieri pulled a goal back for the visitors, arriving in the box to arrow a low drive past the outstretched hand of Francisco Vieites.

The Italian club had several chances to level the tie but were unable to find an equaliser. Robin Gosens missed the best of them, glancing a header inches wide at the near post.

The final will take place in Wroclaw, Poland on Wednesday, 28 May.

  5. How Spurs have got herepublished at 19:23 British Summer Time 8 May

    Bodo/Glimt v Tottenham (20:00 BST, agg 1-3)

Tottenham have been pretty awful in the Premier League this season but they are 90 minutes away from the Europa League final.

Wins against AZ Alkmaar and Eintracht Frankfurt have seen Spurs land a spot in the last four; where they head to Bodo with a two-goal lead.

Manchester United and Tottenham stand on the brink of meeting each other in an all Premier League Europa League final.

They are 15th and 16th in the Premier League respectively.

Since Tottenham beat United 1-0 at home on 16 February, they have played 20 league games between them - they have won four, two each.

United have beaten Ipswich and Leicester. Tottenham have beaten Ipswich and Southampton.

In other words, in almost three months neither side has won a game against a team that will be in the Premier League next season.

    • This has been a record-breaking European campaign for Djurgarden so far as they overcame first-leg defeats to progress from the round of 16 and the quarter-finals.
    • The matches against Chelsea mark Djurgarden's first ever appearances in a European semi-final.
    • Djurgarden have played 17 matches in UEFA competitions this season – a record for a Swedish club.
    • They have faced one other English side before this tie (losing 7-2 on aggregate to Manchester United in 1964).

Djurgarden manager Jani Honkavaara gave his thoughts before the second leg against Chelsea: "The players are excited about what lies ahead and we are really looking forward to stepping out for the match on Thursday.

"We will not focus so much on the result from the last meeting when we approach the match. It is more important to see it as a separate match and if we are to be able to achieve a good result, it is about chasing after goal by goal.

"But we cannot start the match just to catch up with a result, but must manage the match wisely and then see where it takes us."

Let's not forget that Ange Postecoglou has already lost in this ground with Celtic and they've beaten a Jose Mourinho Roma side 6-1, so the pitch does play a part in their home advantage.

The Bodo/Glimt fans are absolutely confident they can turn around this 3-1 deficit.

No club from Norway has ever got this far in a European competition so it is a historic match for not just Bodo/Glimt but for football in the country.

Kjetil Knutsen’s side are used to the big occasion though, having beaten Lazio 2-0 at home in the quarter-final, and they have also dispatched Porto, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Olympiacos, Besiktas and Twente at home this season.

They are also still playing out the end of the 2024-25 season having already started the 2025-26 campaign in March and are unbeaten in their opening four Norwegian Tippeligaen games.

I was making the walk from my flat to the tram stop in Manchester City centre on my way into BBC Sport HQ this afternoon and came across thousands of Athletic Bilbao fans outside Sinclair's.

Despite being 3-0 down ahead of this second leg, they were in fine voice as they hope for a minor miracle at Old Trafford.

Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde was slightly taken aback in his press conference last night to be asked what determined why injured trio Inaki and Nico Williams, plus Oihan Sancet would miss tonight's game.

    Valverde's answer was fairly direct.

"You are either injured or not, that is how you decide," he said. " You can only put players in your side if they are 100%.

"We are thinking about the players who are with us.

"I don’t know how long they will be out. I am not a doctor. I don’t have a clue.

"I would love it if they were here but that is not how it is."

In other words, don't ask stupid questions.

The Bodo/Glimt fans were in strong voice in the town a few hours before kick off, gathering at the local brewery next to the marina.

The Aspmyra Stadion only holds just over 8,000 and there is only one bar in the centre which is showing the game.

The staff had been warning people on Tuesday, if they did not have a ticket and watched to watch the match, they needed to be in the building six hours before kick off.

20 years ago, I wouldn’t have a doubt in my mind that we’d be going through after such an emphatic 1st leg. But modern day United terrify me. I’m very wary that we’re about to embarrass ourselves.

Cole Palmer's 18-match run without a goal was ended at the weekend when he scored from the spot in stoppage time as Chelsea beat champions Liverpool 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Palmer ended a run of 1,162 minutes without a goal in the Premier League, with his penalty his first since January against Bournemouth.

Despite his lack of goals in recent months, Palmer's importance to Chelsea has been clear to see.

With a place in next season's Champions League within reach, Palmer's return to form couldn't have come at a better time.

  17. 'You cannot change the condition of the pitch'published at 19:06 British Summer Time 8 May

    Bodo/Glimt v Tottenham (20:00 BST, agg 1-3)

For those of you who have played on an artificial pitch before, you'll know it's not the same as grass. The ball runs slower, the bounce can be uneven and so on.

But, Spurs stopper Guglielmo Vicario isn't using it as an excuse as they look to make the Europa League final.

"You cannot change the condition of the pitch - it is just about how quickly you adapt. I don't have a lot of experience on [artificial surfaces] but it's fine. We will be ready."
