Dundee United face a play-off to secure their SWPL1 status as Motherwell’s position as best of the rest was confirmed at Foundation Park.

United will take on Kilmarnock at Falkirk Stadium on Thursday with one more chance to secure their top flight safety.

The hosts went into the game with a one-point advantage over Hamilton, but after a stop-start opening period, Louisa Boyes tapped home six minutes into first-half injury time to put the visitors ahead.

More injuries in the second-half disrupted the flow of the game, with United forward Robyn Smith stretchered off on the hour-mark to compound the host’s problems.
