Bristol City's assistant head coach Chris Hogg told BBC Radio Bristol:

"Frustration is the word - that's the true emotion. With them being down to 10 men for so long people will think we should have steamrollered them.

"Having 10 men can galvanise teams but we just were't quite at our best in breaking them down and that's the most frustrating thing.

"They defended their box really well but it came down to belief and our quality. The penalty gave us a lift and gave the whole stadium a lift but we struggled to break down their block and that is something we will have to have a look at.

"There were some good bits and some nearly bits but the boys need to back themselves. We know we could have done better in some moments. We didn't start the game with our usual intent."

The Championship action continues tomorrow as we will have full coverage of Portsmouth against league leaders Leeds United.

Leeds will be looking to re-open the gap to second placed Sheffield United who today joined them on 76 points.

Pompey need a few more wins to guarantee safety this season. They currently sit seven points clear of the league's bottom three and opponents do not get much tougher than this Leeds team.

That being said, they did hold Daniel Farke's side to a thrilling 3-3 draw on the first game of the season and they hold an impressive record at Fratton Park having lost just one of their last 11 games on home soil.

Make sure to join us tomorrow at the earlier time of 12:00 GMT.

  5. 'We have to be consistent'published at 18:15 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    FT: Sunderland 2-1 Cardiff

    Sunderland

Sunderland boss Regis Le BrisImage source, Rex Features

Sunderland made it back-to-back wins with a 2-1 victory over Cardiff and boss Regis Le Bris has been talking to BBC Radio Newcastle:

"We scored early and for the first 20 minutes we were really good - sharp, quick and the rhythm was high.

"But I was disappointed at half time because this question of consistency is key because if we can maintain that level we score two or three more goals but it wasn't possible.

"We allowed our opponent to find confidence and they scored but for the last stage of the game we were better and we found a solution which is positive for us but the next stage for us is we have to build that consistency."

  6. 'I told the players not to be anxious'published at 18:12 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield.

“We were really good today from the start to finish.

“Possibly we should have got more reward for our first 20 minutes-ish, I told the players not to be anxious going into the break though

“We were looking for that second goal but we didn’t find it and we defended well late on which we had to do to make sure we got over the line.

“This team has got 76 points after 36 games which is great going.”

  7. 'The red card changed everything'published at 18:09 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    FT: Bristol City 1-1 Hull

    Hull City

Hull City manager Ruben SellesImage source, Rex Features

Hull City boss Ruben Selles told BBC Radio Humberside:

"We will take the point but we came here with the clear intention of getting three.

"We showed domination in the first 15 minutes and were the best team by far but the red card changed everything. We were unlucky with that situation but I am proud of the effort.

"The overall performance from the very beginning - winning the ball high and trying to play vertical with the build-up - showed the boys were ready to make a good performance and be competitive and the goal was a clear example of that. It was amazing action from Joao [Pedro] with his technical ability.

On the red card, Selles said he had not had time to think about appealing against the decision, "but I will look into it".

"Things happen for you and against you so I am going to keep my opinion and talk about the performance of the boys. We should talk about the warriors on the pitch.

"It really doesn't matter what I feel. I need to coach. I try not to speak too much about decisions."

  8. 'With 10 men, it was always going to be difficult'published at 18:06 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    FT: Burnley 4-0 Luton

    Luton Town

Luton manager Matt BloomfieldImage source, Rex Features

Luton Town boss Matt Bloomfield told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"For the first 18 minutes I thought we were excellent, our shape was very good and our discipline, and there were a few turnover moments when we were able to hit Burnley on the counter-attack.

"But with 10 men it was always going to be a very tough afternoon for us.

"In my opinion, the first one wasn't a yellow, it was right in front of me and he gets the ball.

"Kal's [Naismith] disappointed, understandably so. He's an experienced boy, he knows the game but I'm not going to criticise him - he's been excellent since we signed him.

"I'm proud of the way we kept going with 10 men, it would have been easy second half to go under and the boys stood up to be counted, they were fighting and we have to recognise that irrespective of the result."

  9. Burnley 'never gave Luton any oxygen'published at 18:03 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    FT: Burnley 4-0 Luton

    Burnley

Burnley boss Scott ParkerImage source, Rex Features

Burnley head coach Scott Parker told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"Our performance was rock solid, [we] showed our quality.

"Of course, they got a man sent off pretty early in the game but sometimes that can prove pretty difficult.

"They're a difficult side. I know where they are in the division but they're fighting for their lives and we never gave them any oxygen today.

"We managed every scenario, nullified anything they could produce, defensively as a unit we were very good and in our moments [in attack], we were deadly and executed really well.

"They came here with a back five. Earlier on in the season playing against a stubborn team, we didn't move the ball or create the angles, our movements wasn't as precise as we'd like, but that was very different today."

  10. 'It's important to be very, very proud of the players today'published at 18:00 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    FT: Swansea 1-0 Middlesbrough

    Swansea City

Swansea interim head coach Alan SheehanImage source, Rex Features

Swansea caretaker boss Alan Sheehan said:

"Middlesbrough are a team with a lot of quality. A lot of investment has gone into that team and a lot of big money has been spent on these individuals and obviously the manager has done a good job.

"You can understand why the preparation for these games has got to be right on point because in these games if you're not perfect, you can lose two or three. So I think it's important to be very, very proud of the players today.

"We wanted to compress the space and be aggressive in the right areas because if you are passive against this team, you will get hurt.

"What these players are doing right now, I think we've got to be very, very proud of them because they're leaving everything out there on the football pitch."

  11. 'We collapsed'published at 17:56 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    Plymouth Argyle

Plymouth boss Miron MuslicImage source, Rex Features

Plymouth are now bottom of the Championship and head coach Miron Muslic told BBC Radio Devon:

"We started well for the first 10 or 12 minutes and created the first two goalscoring opportunities but the first positive action for them led to the own goal and you felt the pressure was on and we collapsed.

"The momentum changed and you could visibly see it had a hard affect on us.

"I said at half-time we still had a chance if we scored the first goal but we didn't create a goal scoring opportunity - we could not deal with the pressure but we simply have to move on and I have to protect this team to take away the pressure from the lads.

"I felt the Green Army turned their back on us - lots of people left the stadium but I cannot blame them because it's up to us to make them come, make them stay and make them support - we have to come together again."

  12. 'We could have scored more'published at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    Sheffield Wednesday

Sheff Wed boss Danny RohlImage source, Rex Features

Sheffield Wednesday ended a three-match losing streak with a comfortable win at Plymouth and BBC Radio Sheffield spoke to boss Danny Rohl:

"Except for the first 10 minutes we dominated and controlled the game.

"We were aggressive against the ball and our counter-pressing was much better. I think at the end we could have scored four or five goals.

"All in all I am happy to win 3-0 and 48 points now is a good situation."

  13. 'That's not how we want to look'published at 17:48 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    FT: Swansea 1-0 Middlesbrough

    Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough manager Michael CarrickImage source, Rex Features

Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick speaking to BBC Radio Tees after the game.

“We didn’t start the game well at all.

“That’s not how we want to look and play, we didn’t do enough today to win the game.

“We finished stronger but up until that point we didn’t do ourselves justice, we deserved to be behind.

“They were just a bit sharper and faster than us and started better, we just have to be honest.”

  14. 'We lost the game in the first seven minutes'published at 17:45 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    FT: Derby 2-1 Blackburn

    Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers manager Valerien Ismael claps the away support at full-timeImage source, Rex Features

Blackburn are still looking for their first win under head coach Valerien Ismael and he spoke to BBC Radio Lancashire:

"The players are really disappointed - they wanted more - maybe too much but we lost the game in the first seven minutes.

"We knew what to expect and we had an injury and had to change the shape but we came back into it with the goal.

"We were in control in the second half but I expected more crosses and shots - it's a learning process for the players if you want to fight to compete for something you have to be ready from the first to the last minute."

  15. 'It was an emotional day'published at 17:41 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    Derby County

Derby manager John Eustace applauds the home supportImage source, PA Media

After his first win as Derby boss John Eustace spoke to BBC Radio Derby:

"This is the reason I came to the football club today - the fans were unbelievable and I was proud to be head coach.

"We had a difficult week where three players who would have started were injured and yesterday we had a new game plan.

"It was an emotional day for everyone and it was a great effort by the fans, the players - this is the Derby County family and whatever happens we're going to build something special now.

"I'm just glad we won a football match no matter who the opposition was."

  16. Coventry were 'there for the taking'published at 17:38 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    FT: Coventry 3-2 Stoke

    Stoke City

Stoke manager Mark Robins shouts instructions at his playersImage source, Rex Features

Mark Robins said: “The three goals were terrible and that’s where we’re lacking.

"We make really naive choices. We win the ball, knock it down to them in midfield – those are the things that are costing us in games and they need to realise that.

“To allow them to get a cross in, to allow Bobby Thomas to pick up a ball in our penalty area and allow him to drag it on to his left foot and then not stand in the way of a shot is unforgivable.

“We started brightly, we created three chances before they’d had a shot on target. Then their first effort on goal ends up in the back of our net.

“It’s too easy, we’ve allowed him to jump into our centre half, who doesn’t see him coming, and allows him to get a header and flick it into the far corner.

“We were a bit negative and I don’t know why. I’ve got to say they’re there for the taking and today we could have won this game.”

  17. 'They had momentum but we grabbed it back'published at 17:34 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    Coventry

Frank Lampard celebrates Coventry's win over StokeImage source, Rex Features

Frank Lampard said: “Bobby [Thomas] has popped up with some big goals for us and that’s what we’re in football for.

"There will be times I sit here and I’ll be disappointed and there’s times when you know the Coventry fans have gone away with an amazing game and an amazing feeling at the end.

“I thought we started the second half pretty well but it felt cagey. You’re always aware a goal changes the game and it did.

“If we get the penalty we should have had, it wouldn’t have been done at half time but it was clear, and everyone in the stadium knew that.

“Their second goal was offside as well but they had a bit of momentum which we grabbed back a bit in that extra time, so I’m just really happy.”

  18. 'We didn't deserve to lose'published at 17:30 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    FT: Watford 1-2 Millwall

    Watford

Watford manager Tom CleverleyImage source, Rex Features

Watford head coach Tom Cleverley told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"Second half, technically we were off, and I think we dropped intensity as well, they smelt that and at this level you get punished.

"On the balance of the game, I don't think we deserved to lose it but we have to improve on that second half.

"First half, we were good value for our lead but we just couldn't replicate that performance. We looked a tired outfit in the second half.

"I think we're the most affected squad in the league when it comes down to that [Ramadan fasting].

"We work really hard with our nutritionists to make sure they're in the best condition they possible can be.

"It's something we'll have to manage through this period. Five or six of our players today [were fasting]."

    FT: Watford 1-2 Millwall

    Millwall

Millwall head coach Alex NeilImage source, Getty Images

Millwall boss Alex Neil told BBC Radio London:

"It's the old adage, a game of two halves. Watford dominated the first half, caused us a lot of problems.

"There were a couple of things we had to tinker with at half time to help our shape and when we did that we got a lot better.

"We have got a difficult run-in, five of the top six away from home, so it's certainly not going to be easy. If we do get there [to the play-offs], we'll certainly deserve it.

"We're not naive, we know we've got tough matches coming, but we've got a really good group, they fight for every ball, they play for the shirt, it matters to them, and I was delighted for them today."

  20. 'Rovers have got to be better overall'published at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    FT: Derby 2-1 Blackburn

    Mark Atkins
Former Blackburn midfielder on BBC Radio Lancashire

It was really poor defending from Blackburn for their goals and in this massive game you just can't do that.

They have to keep going but they are making it hard for themselves to make the play-offs.

You've got to be better and find a way to open up these teams and that is what they haven't got.

The mentality and energy needs to be better from a lot of players.

They've just got to be better overall. They are playing for Blackburn Rovers.

It's a game which they have to put to bed now and look to get the three points against Stoke.

It's still all to play for but you can't come to teams near the bottom of the table and lose 2-0 if you are to make the play-offs.
