Arsenal interim boss Renee Slegers speaking to BBC Sport: "In both boxes we started really well and made decisive actions."

On her unbeaten start as interim boss: "It's the players. We are stepping up as a staff as well. We try to facilitate, but the effort and work they put in is on them. I want to give credit to the players again."

On if she can enjoy wins like today: "Towards the end I had a look at the away section. Fantastic. That was a moment of mindfulness and taking it all in."

  4. 'It is not fun to lose'published at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November

    FT: Tottenham 0-3 Arsenal

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Robert Vilahamn speaking to BBC Sport: "It is tough to get that early goal again. It is mentally tough, especially when you come in with a game plan. The first half was not good for us, we tried to find a way to stop them but they are very good.

"Second half was much better, we tried to get higher up the pitch, we pressed better, had more of the ball, but on the other hand Arsenal got another goal and secured the win.

Frustrated? "It is not fun to lose. Today in front of the fans we wanted to play for them and to win for them. Today we made them disappointed so it is hard to be anything but disappointed."

On poor defensive record: "We had a game plan today to try and have a different shape but it did not work. We had some tough games in a row and we have lost confidence. It destroyed a bit of the self confidence how we handled things.

"Let's get to the next lot of games and try to improve and after that we will see if it is a big problem or if we can fix it. We can press, we can defend well it is more having those games in a row and that has pushed the confidence too low. We need to find a way to get that back."

Still a gap to the top? "Everyone knows that there is a big gap. The top teams win all the time and a lot with big margins. The problem is that it takes time to close that gap.

"Last year we started that journey and this year we have hit a bad run but we are going to try and build it back. It is not going to kill us but it is tough now losing games. We don't need to lie, we are not ahead of those top three teams."

Full credit to Arsenal. I feel they have honed in on their weaknesses. From a defensive point of view, it was poor. Tottenham were stuck in between trying to high press and a low block. It was just a little bit too easy.

This is all credit to Russo, she creates problems for the centre-halves and she is always in a position where she can get that shot away.

She's not looking and she just knows where the goal is.

You can see that her confidence is slowly and surely getting back to where it was, probably around the times of the Euros. Great strike but overall from Spurs, defensively really poor.

  7. 'Today was massive'published at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November

    FT: Tottenham 0-3 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal goalscorer Alessia Russo tells BBC Sport: "Today was massive. Not only is it another step in the league and the journey we are on but it's a derby. When you come to the club you know the standards and this is one of them. We knew what it [defeat] felt like and wanted to put it right. Enjoying myself and want to get better each day."

On what has changed under Renee Slegers: "We are a little bit more confident. Things don't change overnight. She has allowed us a little bit of freedom up there and each game is getting better and better."

On players getting a more consistent run: "It's been good to get a bit of consistency. We have to many talented forwards. It's learning each other's strengths and how we can play off each other."

Can Arsenal still win WSL? "For sure. The quality that we have, absolutely. We are taking each game as it comes. We believe we can go far and we will be working hard to do that."

    Fara Williams

The Arsenal players are showing that they really respect Renee Slegers. They seem to have responded and are getting the results. It is something the club must look at, giving her the manager role [permanently]. That is not to say that they need to rush into it. While she is getting the results and performances there is no need to make a decision just yet.

I think to come and be the interim manager of Arsenal Football Club, such a huge football club, and to get the team performing how they are in the last six games.

I think for her personally she will be very happy and most importantly for the club to get back on track and to be doing things the Arsenal way again.

  11. 'Great win for Arsenal, tough for Tottenham'published at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November

    FT: Tottenham 0-3 Arsenal

A great win for Arsenal and they set the tone for it early doors. It was a confident and composed performance overall and a deserved win.

Tough for Tottenham but they have three big games coming up against Aston Villa, Everton and Brighton, which is a real chance to match up against those teams in and around them and to get some more points.

Tottenham haven't been good enough. I saw glimpses of improvement when they went from a back five to a back four, because as a back five they just don't take responsibility individually when they are defending.

Kirby and Parris have really brought something to this Brighton team. It’s so refreshing to see other teams doing well than the usual big names. I moved away from Brighton after living there and playing for the amateur team. I think I might just make the journey to see a game. Exciting times!

  14. Gorry shows leadership but suffers injurypublished at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November

    FT: Brighton 3-2 West Ham

    Marissa Thomas
    BBC Sport

West Ham were looking down and out after going two goals behind against Brighton.

Then Hammers captain Katrina Gorry came to the fore with two goals in five minutes to give Rehanne Skinner's side hope of a WSL point.

Two strikes from long-range, Gorry's first goals for the club, turned the match completely and Brighton looked set to be frustrated after dominating for long periods.

However, an injury to Gorry proved critical. Minutes after scoring her second goal, the Australian midfielder was withdrawn after hurting her shoulder while attempting a sliding tackle on Kiko Seike.

Fran Kirby struck late to seal the win for Brighton, but it might have been a different story if Gorry had remained on the pitch.

Gorry was also influential in West Ham's first WSL win of the season last week and it will be hoped that her injury is not as bad as it looked initially.

Frida Maanum has been involved in everything today, Yes she got an important goal for them but she has dictated that press in midfield, always looking positive and is always wanting to get on the ball. Certainly Arsenal's player of the match.
