    Jamille Matt (51 mins)

    Huge goal...

A corner is swung in from the Saddlers right, Jamille Matt somehow brings the ball down in the middle under immense pressure and lashes in a high half volley which Connor Ripley gets two hands to instinctively, only for the ball to loop up and drop down into the corner.

The travelling army of fans behind the goal go wild.

That's six for the season for Matt and Walsall are top of the league, as things stand...

  2. Postpublished at 13:38 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    Wigan 0-1 Leyton Orient

A double change at the break for Shaun Maloney's chargers.

That goalscorer I talked about prematch and a former Premier League regular enter the fray; Callum McManaman & Thelo Aasgaard replace Baba Adeeko & Silko Thomas.

There were a smattering of boos as Wigan's XI left the field at the interval, a little harsh, but fans who remember winning the FA Cup not long ago expect better from their side even in League One.

Can the home side storm out of the blocks to make Shaun Maloney and co smile more soon?

  3. Postpublished at 13:37 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    Lincoln 0-0 Charlton

Charlton have survived the dreaded first half but they've only won one of their last six away games, at lowly Burton.

The second half has not started in a particularly great way. This game needs someone to take it by the scruff of the neck.

  4. goal

GOAL Crewe 1-0 Bradfordpublished at 13:36 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    Omar Bogle (47 mins)

    What a finish...

Ryan Cooney's curling cross from the right is glances on by Will Lankester towards the far post where Omar Bogle gets his protractor out to somehow guide the ball home from an acute angle beyond the far post giving Sam Walker no chance.

Such a difficult finish on the stretch from a bouncing ball.

Another away game without a clean sheet for City.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 13:35 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    Crewe 0-0 Bradford

A change for the hosts at the break as Matus Holicek replaces Bolton loanee Max Conway in midfield.

Conway gets to wear a massive padded coat and sit in the stand for the second half, lucky boy...

  8. Walsall need to find 'a bit of quality in the final third'published at 13:22 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    HT: Port Vale 0-0 Walsall

    Paul Joannou
Walsall summariser on BBC Radio WM

The Saddlers will say we have been pretty comfortable in this game and have been in control and looked solid.

They have really grown into the game in terms of possession and it is just that final ball at the moment - it has always been slightly over hit or not quite dropped.

If they can find that bit of quality in the final third in the next half there is a really good chance for them.

    Port Vale 0-0 Walsall

Port Vale's Ethan Chislett tries to find a way through against WalsallImage source, Rex Features

Perhaps not a surprise that it's goalless at the break - another match made incredible difficult by the conditions.

Rekeem Harper's 25-yard fizzer deflected inches past the upright which was about as close as the hosts have come.

Walsall have come closest through Taylor Allen's corner which was blown onto the crossbar.

  11. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    Wigan 0-1 Leyton Orient

Wigan's defence opened far too easily for the goal, but do not take away from more lovely work from Dan Agyei who has been the brightest spark of this 45 minutes.

So far the Latics have shown the story of their season, some lovely passing structures but just can’t get the ball in the net.

  12. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:17 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    Crewe 0-0 Bradford

The weather is the winner, though Bradford have had the better of the actual match.

Bobby Pointon was denied by Filip Marschall's legs inside a minute while Calum Kavanagh thumped the woodwork seconds before the break.

The players head for the sanctuary of the dressing room as a squall descends on Gresty Road.

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:17 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    Lincoln 0-0 Charlton

An intriguing half of football clearly impacted by the conditions.

Lincoln started better and Charlton came back into it. But neither side has created much to say they should be ahead.

  14. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 13:16 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    Crewe 0-0 Bradford

Calum Kavanagh comes inches away from breaking the deadlock for Bradford, latching onto a near post cross from Lewis Richards on the left, only to thump his first-time effort with his left foot off the top of the post.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13:13 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    Crewe 0-0 Bradford

Aden Baldwin picks up a caution for Bradford for kicking the ball away, he's fallen foul of ref Matt Corlett a couple of times already this afternoon.

We have floodlit football at the Mornflake Stadium just after 13:00. What a day.

Will Lankester has had the latest sight of goal, guiding a left-footed volley from a cross back across goal but well over the angle of post and bar.

  16. goal

GOAL: Wigan 0-1 Leyton Orientpublished at 13:12 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    Jayden Sweeney (41 mins)

First goal in Orient colours for Jayden Sweeney and his first strike in three years since for Wealdstone in the National League!

Good work down the right from Dan Agyei allows the O's number three to tap home from close range.

  17. Walsall 'have some control in the game'published at 13:10 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    Port Vale 0-0 Walsall

    Paul Joannou
Walsall summariser on BBC Radio WM

Action from Walsall v Port ValeImage source, BBC Sport

It is really good pressing from Walsall and It is a good spell from the Saddlers. They look like they are settled on the ball now and have some control in the game.

They have found some composure in the last 10 minutes. They are stronger when they are pushing higher up the pitch and that is what they are doing now.

Walsall are really trying to open up Vale, they are more on top than they were in the first 20-25 minutes.

  18. CLOSE!published at 13:10 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    Crewe 0-0 Bradford

Bobby Pointon had the best chance of the game inside a minute but he's just come close from a much harder one.

He picks the ball up on the right edge of the Crewe area and bends a left-footed effort across goal, though Filip Marschall is happy to let it skid across his goal and past the far post. Just didn't bend enough.

  19. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    Port Vale 0-0 Walsall

Mother Nature nearly puts Walsall ahead at Vale Park.

Taylor Allen's inswinging corner from the right is carried on the wind and slams into the crossbar with Connor Ripley left floundering in the back of his net after trying to adjust to it.

Vale have taken to playing goal kicks short, with one attempted clearance from Ripley going higher than it did far, dropping 35 yards from his own goal, though the Saddlers were unable to capitalise.

  20. CLOSE!published at 13:05 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2024

    Port Vale 0-0 Walsall

Nathan Lowe so nearly threaded Walsall strike partner Jamille Matt through on goal, only for a desperate toe poke from a defender to keep him out.

But moments later the ball breaks to Charlie Lakin on the edge of the box from a weak Ethan Chislett clearance, only for his first time effort to flash past the far post with Vale keeper Connor Ripley completely unsighted.
