The images were spectacular...

It was certainly never going to be easy for Tottenham.

They did take the lead through former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke, but Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou said the atmosphere of the occasion made it difficult for his side to build on that:

"Once they got in front, especially with this atmosphere today, it was always going to be hard for us to claw that back, and that's how it proved to be.

"In general, after the first half hour, once they got ahead I thought they pretty much controlled the game and we found it hard to get to grips with them."

It is one of the most famous anthems in football and can bring up the goosebumps at any old time.

Yesterday, though, it was belted out with an energy like never before.

After the vintage 'One Kiss' by Dua Lipa had been blasted over the tanoy and a bit of Freed From Desire, You'll Never Walk Alone entered the playlist.

The players and staff, led by captain Virgil van Dijk, immediately paused their wild celebrations to link arms on the edge of the 18-yard box and face the Kop as the song started to build.

Those that had worked so hard to bring a 20th league title to the club were then serenaded with one of the best renditions of You'll Never Walk Alone that Anfield will ever likely see.

The players, staff and some fans were visibly moved as the camera panned between them all.

A truly unforgettable moment for all involved.

After the immediate post-match celebrations had calmed just slightly, Liverpool manager Arne Slot found a moment to grab a microphone to serenade the crowd.

Not with a chant about himself, or a player, or even the club - but with one about his predecessor, Jurgen Klopp.

"Jurgen Klopp, la la la la la la," - sung Slot, which quickly began to echo around the ground with every red in the house joining in.

It was a fitting full circle moment after Klopp had serenaded the Kop with Arne Slot's name after his final game as manager of the club.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on the fans' support on what was an emotional day at Anfield: "The moment when we arrived with the bus, everybody could feel that we were never, never going to lose this game.

"The fans were so supportive before the game, during the game that even when we were 1-0 down you could feel that these fans and this team were able to get this one over the line."

And on the help given to him by former manager Jurgen Klopp: "Many moments in this season the two of us had either WhatsApp contact or we spoke to each other.

"So I think he showed last season when he said farewell what kind of a human being he is by introducing me the way he did.

"That, of course helped, but the thing that helped the most was that he left a team behind that was able to win a trophy."

It is a picture that will go down in Anfield folklore.

When Mohamed Salah drilled Liverpool's fourth goal into the bottom corner, he immediately ran to fans to take a memorable selfie.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, speaking to Sky Sports, said: "It is incredible to win this with our fans. This is 100% better than last time [in 2020], especially with the fans. We have a different group now so to show we can do it again is something special."

On Arne Slot: "He is very honest. The Dutch are quite tough but he made our lives easier. I am glad that we have won it here [at Anfield]."

On playing a different role under Slot, after taking his goal involvements for the Premier League season to 46 in total - 28 goals and 18 assists: "You can see the numbers. Now I don't have to defend much. The tactics are quite different. I said 'as long as you rest me defensively I will provide offensively', so I am glad that I did. He listened a lot and you can see the numbers."

On winning the league in front of the fans at Anfield: "Watching the Arsenal-Crystal Palace game, I didn't want to win it then. I wanted an experience we haven't had before."

Liverpool were crowned Premier League champions in style as Tottenham Hotspur were demolished on a day of wild celebrations and emotion at Anfield.

Arne Slot's side needed only a point to complete the formalities of their coronation, although Spurs briefly threatened a plot twist when former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke headed them into an early lead.

The shock jolted Liverpool into action - Luis Diaz turned in Dominik Szoboszlai's pass from close range to equalise on 16 minutes, and Alexis Mac Allister fired them in front with a strike from the edge of the area.

Anfield's title party really started when Cody Gakpo was allowed time and space inside the area to turn and score Liverpool's third after 34 minutes.

Liverpool laid siege to the Spurs goal in front of the Kop in the second half, Mohamed Salah cutting inside to get on the scoresheet in the 63rd minute.

As Spurs collapsed, Destiny Udogie turned into his own net under pressure from Salah six minutes later.

The win extended Liverpool's lead over second-placed Arsenal to an unassailable 15 points with four games of the season remaining.
