Hearts leapfrog St Mirren to move into the Scottish Premiership top six for the first time since August.
St Mirren had gone ahead through the only real chance of the first half, when Mikael Mandron capitalised on a loose ball on the box to fire home.
Hearts hit back in the second half when 17-year-old James Wilson was presented with a simple chance, thanks to Richard Taylor's miss-kicked clearance.
Calem Nieuwenhof fired the hosts in front and fellow sub Kenneth Vargas finished proceedings when his goal was finally given, after a lengthy VAR check.

Jorge Grant played a one-two with Lawrence Shankland to break into the area. When Grant could pull the trigger, he squares to Vargas who taps in.
It's Shankland who might be offside... VAR is checking it.
Ross County are screaming for a handball penalty. The referee gives the throw-in County's way but they can't fashion a chance, with goalkeeper Jordan Amissah joining the attack, and the whistle goes.
What a three points this could prove to be for St Johnstone and they were good value for it as well.

It was a cross from the right that caused that imbroglio, with Craig Gordon stranded as the ball was headed around the six-yard box before it was eventually cleared.
Hearts very much on the back foot here.

United are furious as they feel they should have had a corner, but a goal kick was given to Hibs and they end up scoring.

St Mirren are pressuring, with Greg Kiltie coming close twice. First, he drove a left-footed effort from the edge of the box that Craig Gordon saved, and then he almost connected with a cross from the left.
