Joao Pedro and Kaoru Mitoma scored as 10-men Brighton continued their best start to a top-flight season by holding off Bournemouth in a 2-1 win.
Pedro opened the scoring in the fourth minute when he tapped in after Kepa Arrizabalaga parried away Georginio Rutter's strike from the edge of the area.
Bournemouth responded well and had the better of the chances in the first half, with Marcus Tavernier and Antoine Semenyo causing concern for goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen with long-range strikes.
But Mitoma doubled the visitors' lead shortly after the interval, running on to Pedro's ball before sweeping a shot across Arrizabalaga and into the bottom corner.
Brighton were forced to play the last 30 minutes with 10 players after Carlos Baleba was shown a second yellow by referee Stuart Attwell for a late challenge on Milos Kerkez.
Substitute David Brooks halved the deficit in injury time, but Fabian Hurzeler's side were able to hold on in a nervy finish that saw Semenyo brush the crossbar with the last kick of the game.
The win moves Brighton up to fifth - joint on 22 points with Chelsea and Arsenal after 12 games.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, drop to 13th following a second straight defeat after they entered the international break on the back of a 3-2 loss to Brentford.
Pedro plays starring role
Both Bournemouth and Brighton handed champions Manchester City back-to-back defeats before the international break, but it was two moments of brilliance that separated the Seagulls from their hosts at a wet and windy Vitality Stadium.
Pedro had missed the six league games before the win over City with an ankle injury, but he came off the bench to score the equaliser against Pep Guardiola's side before Matt O'Riley's 83rd-minute winner.
And the Brazilian's lightning-quick return to form continued against Bournemouth as he brilliantly started and finished the move for Brighton's opener.
Pedro linked up well with Danny Welbeck, cleverly flicking the ball on before a darting Rutter took aim and Arrizabalaga pushed the save straight into his feet.
The 23-year-old, who was making his first Premier League start since late August, was central to Brighton's second goal too.
He linked up with Rutter and Welbeck again before threading a delightful ball through Bournemouth's defence for Mitoma to run on to.
Off-target Cherries leave it too late
Andoni Iraola could not have asked for a much better response to Pedro's early goal with his team peppering the Brighton box with goalscoring opportunities.
Evanilson should have done better to cancel out the opener, but he opted for an angled shot rather than squaring the ball to the arriving Semenyo and Justin Kluivert, and it was a straightforward save for Brighton keeper Verbruggen.
The Brazilian striker, Bournemouth's record signing, thought he had levelled just before the break - only for a lengthy check by the video assistant referee (VAR) to confirm he was offside in the build-up.
Semenyo, too, looked dangerous for the hosts, but he will miss Bournemouth's trip to Wolves next week after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season for a reckless tackle on Rutter.
Even with an extra man, the Cherries could not find a way through and they ended the game with only five of their 19 shots on target as the Brighton defence held firm.
