Jordan Ayew scored in the 94th minute to deny Ipswich a win

Jordan Ayew scored deep into stoppage time as Leicester City denied Ipswich Town a first Premier League win of the season.

Ayew played a one-two with Jamie Vardy and shot past Arijanet Muric to rescue a point for the visitors.

Leif Davis' superb first-time volley had looked like giving Ipswich all three points.

But the home side, who had Kalvin Phillips sent off for a second bookable offence after a late challenge on Ricardo Pereira with 12 minutes remaining, failed to see out the win and Ipswich remain in the bottom three.

Minutes before Phillips' dismissal, Ipswich were denied a penalty after Abdul Fatawu appeared to shove Conor Chaplin over in the box.

They have now dropped 12 points from winning positions, the most of any team in the league.

The Tractor Boys have registered five draws and five losses in their opening 10 games, the club’s longest winless run at the start of a top-flight campaign.

Ipswich had 10 shots in the first half but they were ultimately frustrated once again.

Sam Szmodics headed over from close range, while Dara O'Shea's downward header was well wide of the target.

However, Davis' sublime volley, from Sam Morsy's pass, 10 minutes into the second half gave the hosts a well deserved lead.

Cameron Burgess made a vital clearance off the line to deny Ayew as Ipswich tried to defend their lead but he found the back of the net minutes later as the hosts missed an opportunity to beat a fellow newly-promoted side.

When Leicester needed a hero, Ayew stepped up once again.

The Ghana forward came on as a substitute for defender Victor Kristiansen in the 86th minute and rewarded his manager Steve Cooper's bold move.

Both of Ayew's Premier League goals this season have come in second-half stoppage time (in the 98th minute at Southampton, and 94th at Ipswich).

And his late strike means Leicester have maintained their record of scoring in all 10 of their league matches this season.

The Foxes had other opportunities to score but Fatawu's curled effort early on was pushed by the post by Muric while Facundo Buonanotte had a shot well saved and Vardy sent a header over the bar.
