Already Greaves is going in with Szoboszlai in midfield, so Ipswich look like they are prepared to go three on three in the midfield, a brave approach early on. We'll see how that develops during the game.

Ipswich keep up their encouraging start as Wes Burns tumbles after contact with Andy Robertson just outside the Liverpool box. There's no free-kick and Ipswich retain possession, but the attack fizzles out.

Honestly, the crowd doesn't need whipping up any further but the guy on the speakers got fans roaring seconds before kick-off:

"The eyes of the world are watching," he shouted. "Ipswich Town are back where they belong!".

Ipswich have the first attack of the game as Omari Hutchinson tries his luck, but his shot is charged down.

That's exactly what the home fans need, however, to keep this level of excitement up.

The excitement is palpable and there's a huge cheer as Ipswich win their first throwing in the Premier League.

The announcer keeps on going: "The journey has been tough. But. The. Journey. Continues!"

Give that man a pay rise.

The whistle goes and, for the first time since 2002, Premier League football kicks off at Portman Road.

Here we go!

Oh. My. Goodness.

What a noise! Portman Road erupts and flames shoot into the air as the teams emerge from the tunnel.

They have been waiting for this moment for 22 years in these parts.

It's a sea of blue with a pocket of red.

The stadium announcer sums up the excitement no doubt every Ipswich fan will be feeling as the players come out onto the pitch: "HERE WE GO! Ipswich Town's first game back in the Premieerrrr Leagueee!"

A big roar greets it - fantastic atmosphere at this old ground.

Liverpool have to make sure that they freshen up the squad. They will have injuries, a huge number of games coming up, they need strength in depth.

Of course when you look at the bench they have got attacking options, Harvey Elliott, Darwin Nunez. etcetera. But it is so important to send a message to the fans and the players themselves that this is Liverpool and they have the quality to take on the challenges ahead.

Ipswich Town legend John Wark believes his former club can stay up in the Premier League this season.

The Tractor Boys are playing in the top flight for the first time in 22 years but, despite the competition in the division, Wark is confident Kieran McKenna can steer them to safety.

"Yes," was his response when asked whether Ipswich will stay up in the BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily and he added: "I would take right now finishing fourth bottom."

Fellow former Ipswich player Kieron Dyer shared that optimism, saying: "I feel that we are going to finish ahead of Leicester and Southampton but it's just if we can rein another one in.

"I think it is going to be very difficult but I have underestimated the club and the team too many times.

"They have got a great chance."
