So, then - 64 teams will be in the hat, or the perspex bowl, for the third round draw when it takes place at Old Trafford, the home of holders Manchester United, on Monday evening.

This, of course, is when the Premier League and Championship big boys join the fray.

Tamworth, one of only two remaining non-league sides in the competition alongside Dagenham & Redbridge, will be ball number 53 after their dramatic penalty shootout win at League One Burton today.

The draw will be broadcast live on BBC Two and iPlayer from 19:00 GMT and will be presented by Kelly Somers with former Red Devils stars Mark Hughes and Dion Dublin picking the numbers out.

Third-round ties will be played over the weekend of Saturday, 11 January, with the schedule announced after televised games are decided.

  3. 'We were the better team'published at 17:43 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Solihull Moors 1-2 Bromley

Solihull Moors boss Andy Whing speaking to ITV: "It was frustrating, I thought we were miles the better team throughout to be perfectly honest.

"We knew their game plan - they are direct and land on ball. We scored a good goal and we switch off for a free-kick.

"I can't fault the players for their effort, I thought we were outstanding at times but ultimately gutted in the end."

  4. 'We got across the line'published at 17:40 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Solihull Moors 1-2 Bromley

Bromley boss Andy Woodman speaking to ITV: "We've been a little bit nervy at the end of matches so there was nerves around the place again but we got across the line.

"It wasn't pretty, it wasn't a classic, I think we can all agree on that but we're in the hat and that's the most important thing for this football club.

"We were poor though, that was painful but we got across the line. We just make hard work for ourselves."

  5. Watch: Reading overcome Harborough's fighting spiritpublished at 17:37 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Reading 5-3 Harborough Town

Seventh-tier Harborough Town put in an impressive performance to lead the tie with Reading twice but the League One side's quality proved a step too far.

Though it took extra time for the Royals to secure the win in a goal-laden affair with plenty of joyous moments for visiting fans to head home with.

Mitch Austin, Harborough Town manager, speaking to BBC Radio Leicester after his seventh-tier side's extra-time loss at League One Reading:

“Delighted for the performance that we put in. I’m not going to dwell on anything. It has been a fantastic day and they’ve done the town and the club proud. The 3-3 will live with me forever and running over Jose-esque! Good memories.

“I’m proud of the whole day. Sandro was class first-half. Second half we had a lead at half time against a League One club. Then we equalise in the 86th. We took it to extra time. Do we have any regrets? No. Lots of memories? Yes.

“It has been a fantastic journey but now we need to start moving up the league to where I think we should be.”

    FT: Blackpool 1-2 Birmingham

Earlier on, Birmingham City booked their place in the third round after surviving a second-half charge from Steve Bruce's Blackpool.

Blackpool boss Steve Bruce was disappointed after his side went out of the FA Cup following a feeble first-half performance in their 2-1 defeat to his former club Birmingham.

The visitors struck twice in the opening 24 minutes through Scotland striker Lyndon Dykes and Lukas Jutkiewicz to take control before Jordan Rhodes came off the bench for a consolation goal at Bloomfield Road.

Bruce, who both played for and managed the Blues, said: “We didn’t lay a glove on Birmingham. In the second half we made a few changes and it was a totally different cup tie.

“And maybe we had the better chances in the second half. We’ve certainly made more of a cup tie of it, compared to the first half, when it was just a stroll in the park for them, which was disappointing.

“Well we huffed and puffed and as I said, made a cup tie out of it. (Matthew) Pennington had a big chance at the death at the far post, and if there’s anybody you want on that kind of chance, it’s a centre-back with a header, but it wasn’t to be.

“But again, in the first half, we were nowhere near where we should be.”

Luke: This should be the last season of this pandering to the Premier League. Bring replays back for the whole competition up to quarter finals. If they’re in place for non-league teams who have a busier schedule, they can be in place for Premier League teams.

Suspect you'll get a few thumbs-up on this Luke - no doubt Harborough Town fully enjoyed their day at Reading but, yes, in past seasons, they'd have been taking the Royals back to Leicestershire for a midweek replay...

Daniel Imray scored the winning goal for Bromley and was named player of the match for his performance.

Imray told ITV: "Hopefully we get a big draw in the next round. We had to dig in and we knew there were going to be times when we had to dig in.

On his goal: "Hopefully I can keep it up and anything I can do to help push this team, I will."

On what changed in the second half: "The gaffer at half-time, we went to a four at the back. I went to right-wing, higher up the pitch to try and get on the ball a bit more.

"The game plan worked well in the second half and the gaffer did it."

  11. Postpublished at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time

    Right. What a breathless afternoon.

Five games - three went to extra-time and one to penalties.

We had 19 goals and one big shock as Tamworth beat a Burton side from two divisions above.

There could have been more upsets as seventh-tier sides Harborough Town and Kettering gave Football League outfits Reading and Doncaster quite a scare.

Let's try to mop up some reaction from all five ties before we sign off for a lie down.

  12. 'Bromley probably deserved the win'published at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Solihull Moors 1-2 Bromley

    Richard Sneekes
Former West Brom and Bolton midfielder on BBC Radio WM

Based on the second half Bromley probably deserved the win, they were just the better team in the second half.

Solihull Moors will be beating themselves because there was a great opportunity to get into the third round proper.

I thought they didn't move the ball quick enough in the second half.

  13. FULL-TIMEpublished at 17:07 Greenwich Mean Time

    Solihull Moors 1-2 Bromley

Bromley have won it! They're into the FA Cup third-round for the first time in their history!

Disappointment for Solihull Moors who led in the 12th minute through Conor Wilkinson's low drive from the edge of the box.

The Ravens hit back immediately when Omar Sowunmi turned home from close-range following a well-worked short free-kick and fizzed cross by Corey Whitely.

Daniel Imray struck the winner in the 61st minute when he latched onto Ben Thompson's through ball to take it round the keeper and slot home.

A re-run of the National League play-off final from May and it's Bromley who come out on top once again.

Andy Woodman's League Two side are in the hat and will be dreaming of a big draw.
