From the first whistle Kettering really took the the game to Doncaster. They were on the front foot, they won a free-kick early wanted to get the ball into the box.

Then in the middle part of the game Doncaster got a grip of the midfield and started to create but Kettering are so dangerous going forward that they can cause any defence problems.

There's just one change for Blackpool from Tuesday night's League One victory against Bristol Rovers as Seasiders boss Steve Bruce prepares to face one of his many former clubs.

Ryan Finnigan enters the midfield as goal scorer Lee Evans sits on the bench alongside Albie Morgan, who hasn't been part of the matchday squad since October after being diagnosed with type one diabetes.

Meanwhile Birmingham City make 10 changes from the side that beat Exeter City in League One on Tuesday.

Only captain Krystian Bielik remains in the starting XI to try and lead a whole new line-up into the third round.

Not since Jimi Hendrix recorded Purple Haze in 1967 have Blackpool and Birmingham City met in an FA Cup tie.

In fact, the last time Blues even had to play in the second round of the FA Cup was during their replay win against Scunthorpe in December 1994 - the same time hit American sitcom Friends was airing its first season.

The Tangerines, on the other hand, have some pedigree at this stage of the competition in recent times.

They haven't lost a second round tie since their 1-0 defeat to Yeovil in 2000, one day after Tottenham Hotspur defender Ledley King recorded the then fastest - now third - Premier League goal in history at 9.82 seconds.

It means neither side have missed out on a place in a third round for quite some time and no matter how this one pans out, there's going to be an earlier exit than usual.

Kettering Town lead at the break!

There might be 68 league places between these two sides, but the Poppies don't care much for it.

Isiah Noel-Williams' effort from outside the box is the difference in that first half.

Doncaster Rovers have work to do in the second 45 if they want to avoid falling victim to an FA Cup upset.

A bit of Doncaster pressure to end the half but Patrick Kelly swipes a wayward left-footed effort from distance well wide of the target, much to the delight of the home support.

  8. TWO ADDED MINUTESpublished at 45+1 mins

We're into two minutes of stoppage time at the end of this first-half. Kettering would love to get in at 1-0.

    Kettering 1-0 Doncaster

If Doncaster knew they were in a game at kick-off, they certainly do know even better now.

Kettering are not making it easy for them at all and another Rovers attack breaks down after some solid defending by the hosts.

  10. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Kettering 1-0 Doncaster

Doncaster work it well with a cross to the far post and Luke Molyneux gets on the end of it to head back across goal but it's fairly comfortable for Kettering keeper Jason Alexander to claim.

  11. 'Doncaster look uncomfortable'published at 12:40 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December

    Kettering 1-0 Doncaster

    Troy Deeney
Former Watford striker on BBC Two

Doncaster look uncomfortable, they don't feel like a team that are two leagues above.

Even with the ball they just look like everyone is waiting for something to happen opposed to making it happen.

  12. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Kettering 1-0 Doncaster

A quick reminder in case you really needed it... Kettering dumped out their local rivals Northampton Town from League One in the first round, so they certainly have previous for causing an upset.

Is there to be another one here?

Kettering win a free-kick high on the left but Doncaster are able to deal with it.

Rovers are coming under pressure here since going behind, though.

Kettering could have made it two! It comes across the face of goal and it's Isiah Noel-Williams again... but he mis-hits his shot into the crowded penalty area.

  15. 'It's a lovely finish'published at 12:34 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December

    Kettering 1-0 Doncaster

    Troy Deeney

    Unbelievable.

This is what happens when you set the press properly and go as a team.

Noel-Williams actually starts it off and there's only one thought in his mind as he uses the defender to just shape it around the goalkeeper.

It's a lovely finish, real quality.

After a quickfire start by Kettering, the game has settled into a rhythm you might expect.

Doncaster are seeing a lot of the ball - 75% of it to be precise - and the Poppies are just having to be patient in their defensive work.

Still goalless, though, and that's all that matters so far.
