Thanks for joining us tonight for five live matches which brought 11 goals, high drama, and missed opportunities for both Wycombe and Crewe Alexandra to strengthen their stranglehold on promotion spots across Leagues One and Two.

We'll be back tomorrow for 18 matches across Leagues One and Two on another busy Saturday in the EFL including Wrexham's trip to managerless Bristol Rovers and Walsall's match at Harrogate Town.

But for now, it's a good night from us all!

League Two table after the games on 20 December

Crewe Alexandra missed the chance to move above Port Vale into second place after they were held to a goalless draw by Colchester, who climb two places to 16th.

Gillingham's 2-2 draw with Cheltenham puts them within one point of Chesterfield and Grimsby in the play-off spots.

It could, of course, all change again come the end of this round of fixtures, given how tight it is in League Two.

League One table after the games on 20 December

Wycombe's goalless draw with Bolton means they have left the door ajar for Birmingham City to leapfrog them at the top if they can beat Crawley on Monday night.

The Trotters climb one place to seventh, while Huddersfield's commanding 4-0 win at Cambridge and Stockport's 2-1 victory at home to Peterborough strengthens their respective positions in the play-off spots.

That defeat for Cambridge means they are still four points adrift of safety having played a game more than the teams around them, except Northampton.

  4. 'They'll take the positives'published at 21:54 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Crewe 0-0 Colchester

    Peter Morse
Crewe summariser on BBC Radio Stoke

Crewe were more on the front foot, but Colchester are a strong defensive unit, they couldn’t find a way through.

A disappointment but the unbeaten run is extended.

You hope the Crewe fans take the positives; the players certainly gave everything although there was a slight lack of composure at times.

They couldn’t find a way to crack the Colchester nut, they would have wanted all three points but come away with one.

  5. 'A very good point'published at 21:48 Greenwich Mean Time

A very good point, there were times where you wanted Colchester to be a bit more ruthless but a good result.

I felt Crewe started well, then it was even, Crew finished the better side.

We competed really well with them and take a valuable point.

It's a fantastic point, they would've had all three points in mind but they will certainly take it.

  6. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time

    Crewe 0-0 Colchester

A point a piece at Gresty Road!

Crewe miss the opportunity to momentarily go second in League Two with a goalless draw.

They came closest to breaking the deadlock infront of a sell-out crowd but substitute Omar Bogle could only strike the post from a tight angle with 10 minutes remaining.

Danny Cowley's side were the better team in the first-half and are probably good value for a point with Lyle Foster coming close for the U's twice either side of half-time.

The draw means Crewe remain third and Colchester, who have now not conceded a goal for over 11 and a half hours of football, climb to 16th.

  7. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:39 Greenwich Mean Time

    Gillingham 2-2 Cheltenham

And with Dack's close shave the last meaningful moment of the match, the points will have to be shared at Priestfield.

An extremely entertaining game began when Jayden Clarke opened the scoring after Joe Day could only parry out Elliott Nevin's shot.

Cheltenham refused to lie down and were level at the break after Luke Young's excellent free-kick made it 1-1 via the inside of the post.

George Miller headed home Tom Bradshaw's excellent pinpoint cross to give the visitors the lead but eight minutes later George Lapslie turned home Nevin's superb cut-back to earn the Gills a point.

The point means the Gills miss the chance to go up into the play-off places as they go ninth whilst Cheltenham stay 13th.

  8. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:39 Greenwich Mean Time

    Stockport 2-1 Peterborough

It's all over and Stockport take all three points.

County took the lead through Odin Bailey's flick from Louie Barry's free-kick after 11 minutes but Joel Randall smashed Peterborough level 10 minutes before the break.

Barry was once again the provider for the winner in the second half as his cross came all the way to substitute Isaac Olaofe who scored just six minutes after coming on.

Stockport strengthen their grip on a play-off spot, while the Posh are left playing catch-up in mid-table.

  9. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:38 Greenwich Mean Time

    Gillingham 2-2 Cheltenham

What a chance to win the match for Gillingham's Bradley Dack!

A long ball is poorly dealt with by Cheltenham keeper Joe Day, his punch falls to Dack whose delicate, first-time lob with his left foot looks like it is about to loop in but hits the underside of the bar and falls gratefully into the goalkeepers gloves.

    Stockport 2-1 Peterborough

Into the final two minutes of stoppage time and so far, Peterborough have been unable to carve out another opportunity.

League One leaders Wycombe are held to a third draw in four games by Bolton.

The hosts were much-improved in the second half, showing more urgency, but failed to breach a resilient Trotters defence.

A disappointing evening for Matt Bloomfield and his side, but Ian Evatt will be satisfied, especially as Bolton chairman Sharon Brittan watched from the stands at Adams Park after she gave Evatt the club's backing earlier this week.

  12. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:36 Greenwich Mean Time

    Cambridge 0-4 Huddersfield

    A comfortable win for Huddersfield.

David Kasumu's goal in the 12th minute got the ball rolling for the Terriers before Brodie Spencer and Callum Marshall put the game beyond doubt before half-time.

Marshall then added a fourth after 72 minutes to put the icing on the cake.

That's now 11 games unbeaten for Michael Duff's side whose quest for promotion goes on. Just one win in eight now for Cambridge who remain in the danger zone.

  13. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:35 Greenwich Mean Time

    Gillingham 2-2 Cheltenham

Six minutes of added on time signaled by the fourth official.

  14. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:35 Greenwich Mean Time

    Cambridge 0-4 Huddersfield

Halfway through four added minutes, but in truth, Huddersfield have been cruising towards victory for almost an hour.

  15. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:34 Greenwich Mean Time

    Crewe 0-0 Colchester

There will be SEVEN minutes of additional time played at Gresty Road.

Just the three minutes added on. Is that enough for Wycombe to find a winner? We've already played one minute of that...

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:33 Greenwich Mean Time

    Gillingham 2-2 Cheltenham

The Cheltenham medical staff are on the pitch at the moment and there's a bit of concern for Ibrahim Bakare but the centre-half is up on his feet and ready to continue following a head injury.

Gills boss uses the opportunity to make a double sub and Ethan Coleman and Remeao Hutton are brought off and replaced by Josh Andrews and Shadrach Ogie.

  18. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:32 Greenwich Mean Time

    Stockport 2-1 Peterborough

There is going to be seven minutes added on. Plenty of time for the Posh to rescue something here...

  19. Postpublished at 21:32 Greenwich Mean Time

    Wycombe 0-0 Bolton

Not quite a Christmas cracker this game... but Bolton won't care if they can hold on for what would be a valuable point in their own hunt for promotion.

And nor will second placed Birmingham City if it stays like this, you'd have thought.

Wycombe are still pushing for a winner. Tense at Adams Park.

  20. CLOSE!published at 21:30 Greenwich Mean Time

    Wycombe 0-0 Bolton

Bolton almost snatch a winner themselves as Jay Matete bursts through and Szabolcs Schon sees his effort deflected narrowly wide.

Time is running out for Wycombe if they're to avoid a third draw in four games.
