For all the focus being on Falkirk and the title inside this stadium, spare a thought for those Hamilton players out there.

The last thing they'll want is a party after relegation was confirmed last night.

That said, they'll have pride and want to impress in front of the BBC Scotland cameras as who knows what the future holds for many of them given what has unfolded in recent weeks.

  5. 'It doesn't get bigger than this' - McGlynnpublished at 19:41 British Summer Time 2 May

    Falkirk v Hamilton Accies (19:45)

Falkirk manager John McGlynn tells BBC Scotland: "It's a huge occasion, there's no underestimating that.

"It doesn't get any bigger. Buzzing, the players will be buzzing for it, there will be a huge crowd here, and they'll get right behind us

"Like any game, you want to make a good start, the first goal is always important in any game, even more so tonight.

"Looking forward to it, at this stage all the work is done, the team talk, the guys can now go out and put their best foot forward with the crowd right behind us to try and control the game and kill it off if we get the opportunity to."

    Livingston v Partick Thistle (19:45)

Livingston manager David Martindale tells BBC Scotland: "It's still Falkirk's to lose, but going to matchday 36 we still have a chance for automatic promotion.

"John [McGlynn] will be saying the same as me! You can't take Partick Thistle out the equation, they've got a lot to play for. It's important we start fast.

"We can only deal with ourselves, what's in front of us, and try and get three points."

  7. And what about relegation?published at 19:35 British Summer Time 2 May

The points deduction for Hamilton Accies, confirmed after their appeal was dismissed on Thursday, has drawn the sting from the relegation battle.

Accies are in a malaise and League 1 is their destiny after a 15-point deduction left them eight points adrift at the bottom, when they would have otherwise been safe in seventh place.

Second-bottom Airdrieonians – who had looked doomed for the majority of this season until a run of only four defeats in 16 since the turn of the year – will have a second chance at Championship life next season if they manage to see off their play-off adversaries from League 1.

  8. Who can still seal a playoff spot?published at 19:32 British Summer Time 2 May

    Livingston v Partick Thistle (19:45)

Fourth place is still to be decided to see who will join Falkirk or Livingston, and Ayr United in the play-offs.

Partick Thistle sit fourth presently. However, they are just two points ahead of the league's on-form team, Raith Rovers.

Thistle, of course, visit Livingston, who are gunning for the title, while Raith visit Queen's Park, whose form has plummeted since that famous victory over Rangers in the Scottish Cup.

  10. What if it comes down to goal difference?published at 19:27 British Summer Time 2 May

    Jonathan Sutherland
    BBC Sport Scotland

If Falkirk and Livingston both win, they will each finish the season on 73 points.

In terms of goal difference, Falkirk have the big advantage of +37 compared to +29 for Livingston.

Livingston would need to pound Thistle into the stone age for goal difference to be a factor.

This scenario is even less likely given the fact Thistle are not only supporting actors in this end-of-season blockbuster, they have their own significant plot at play.

A Friday night, final day shootout with Falkirk and Livingston tied on points seemed unimaginable a short time ago but we are here as this Championship drama shows little sign of relenting.

You can already sense a balance of anticipation and nervousness around this stadium. Many home fans ready to party, some fearing the worst.

Falkirk know win and it's surely their title. They are up against a side who had relegation confirmed last night when their 15 point deduction appeal was dismissed.

Will that inspire them to go down fighting with a point to prove? Or will Falkirk finally get it right and get this over the line?

    Bring on kick-off!

Should Falkirk lose or draw to Hamilton then suddenly the door is open for a Livingston title win if Martindale's side secure a fifth consecutive victory by beating visitors Partick Thistle.

Defeating the fourth-placed Jags will be easier said than done, of course.

It was only last week – in front of the Sportscene cameras – that Thistle inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Falkirk, with the winning goal coming in the 98th minute.

Just another electrifying twist in a division where drama is the regular currency.

Should Falkirk start banging the goals in against relegated Hamilton Academical, the ignition will fire and the silverware will start the journey north.

A win of any kind for Falkirk at home to the beleaguered Accies will almost certainly be enough to ensure the Bairns are crowned champions given their superior goal difference.

Not long ago, David Martindale, manager of chasing Livingston, had publicly conceded the title to John McGlynn's side.

However, another stumble from Falkirk – they have lost their latest two matches – and the route for the trophy will potentially change to West Lothian.

It all comes down to this.

Falkirk have led the race for almost the entire reason, with the gap between the Bairns and the rest looking unassailable at times.

Football is never so simple. With just one win in their last five league games, they've passed up a few opportunities to seal the deal and now, Livingston are level on the final night.

Stick with us for every twist and turn in what could be an incredible evening.
