Victor Osimhen's agent, Roberto Calenda, has hit out at reports that he could join Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli.

The Italian said of his client, who is attracting interest from Chelsea, in a social media post today: "Osimhen is a Napoli player, with a contract recently renewed with mutual satisfaction.

"He made history and when there were major offers (also this year) we always accepted the club's decisions.

"As I said, it is not a package to be shipped far away to make room for new prophets. Victor was elected African footballer of the year, eighth at the Ballon d'Or, he still has so much to do in Europe.

"There is need respect and balance."

Chelsea are keen to sign the Nigeria international striker on either a loan or swap deal and have discussed the sale of Romelu Lukaku in the other direction to Napoli.

Best reunion? Has to be Gareth Bale back at Spurs, sadly during COVID and seemingly unwanted by the manager (no names!). Brilliant to watch. Wish he'd stayed.

Speaking of reunions, I fell out of love with the game whilst at university. Stopped watching it altogether. But now I am supporting spurs more than ever, and it is absolutely brilliant.

Bayern took the lead when Sacha Boey forced his way through the Wolfsburg defence and cut the ball across goal to Jamal Musiala, who slotted in from close range.

Gnabry had multiple angled shots saved by debutant goalkeeper Kamil Grabara.

Athletic got themselves back on level terms when they were awarded a penalty a minute before half-time, after Pau Cubarsi felled Alex Berenguer inside the box.

Oihan Sancet confidently sent Marc-Andre ter Stegen the wrong way from the resulting spot-kick, but Robert Lewandowski, who scored both goals in the Catalan club's 2-1 win over Valencia on the opening weekend, got the winner with 15 minutes to go.

  9. EFL Cup third round splitpublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 26 August

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

It's the EFL Cup second round this week, which is time to remind everyone about the changes having to be implemented for the third round due to the expansion of European competitions this season.

Essentially, Manchester United and Tottenham will play their third round ties in the week commencing 16 September, with the remainder of the games the following week.

This is because the Europa League starts in the week commencing 23 September as each European competition has been granted an 'exclusive' week by UEFA.

The Champions League begins on 17 September, which means the EFL Cup third round is effectively being seeded so neither United nor Tottenham get a Champions League team as there would be a clash.

Effectively, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham will each be drawn in the first six matches (there will already have been a draw to confirm the order and whether each club is home or away). The rest of the draw will be open.

    Everyone got that?

Celtic began life without Matt O'Riley with a comfortable Scottish Premiership win away to St Mirren.

The Denmark international midfielder was left out of Brendan Rodgers' squad for the trip to Paisley as he closes in on a move to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion.

It did not affect the league champions though, as captain Callum McGregor fired them into the lead inside three minutes.

Reo Hatate lashed in a second to put Celtic in command, before Alistair Johnston made it three in the second half following good work from Nicolas Kuhn.

The result was never in doubt and the margin of victory could have been greater were it not for a string of saves by St Mirren keeper Ellery Balcombe.

One positive for Sean Dyche and Everton was the performance of 19-year-old defender Roman Dixon on his debut.

He is coming out of it having won a fair few one-on-one duels versus Wilson Odobert and Son Heung-min.

It has been a real baptism of fire, without any protection in front of him, but he can hold his head high.

It is understood that he may still go on loan before deadline day, but this performance might have given manager Sean Dyche food for thought, after he stepped in as an enforced change with Ashley Young suspended.
