I’ve got to say as an Arsenal fan, I’m nowhere near as nervous as I was before the second leg against Madrid. It's probably because after last week a fair chunk of the expectation has gone and we travel to Paris with nothing to lose, in a way. Hopefully that might give the players the freedom to play how we know they can, as last week it looked for the most part they were trying more not to lose than go after the game and grab it by the scruff of the neck. We play a lot better when it’s free-flowing and the self-inflicted pressure is off.

Former Arsenal midfielder Adrian Clarke speaking on The Football News Show: "PSG put Liverpool under extraordinary pressure and the goalkeeper had an absolute blinder.

"That's why I think David Raya is a big player for Arsenal, if he has the game of his life and some of the forwards take their chances, anything can happen."

    Ask Me Anything

BBC Sport's Ask Me Anything team have been asking for your questions...

Here’s one before the second legs of the Champions League semi-finals.

Bo asked: Why does the first semi-final in the Champions League have nine days between 1st and 2nd legs, and the second semi-final have seven days between 1st and 2nd legs? Why is it not Tue-Tue and Wed-Wed, giving all four teams an equal gap between fixtures?

The answer is to do with broadcasters...

Uefa sell broadcasting packages across the world. Rotating games between Tuesday and Wednesday allows countries who share the broadcasting rights to show clubs an equal number of times.

All teams, throughout the whole tournament, play an equal number of games on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Mikel Arteta asked Arsenal fans to 'bring their boots' to support his side for the Champions League semi-final first leg against Paris St-Germain.

The Gunners faithful duly obliged but the Emirates atmosphere was punctured by Ousmane Dembele's early strike for the visitors.

The French attacker swept home a low finish from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's cross only four minutes into the last-four tie.

PSG dominated the early stages but Arsenal had their chances through Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, who were both denied by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, while Mikel Merino had a header ruled out for offside.

The Parisians were close to doubling their lead late on when Goncalo Ramos hit the bar but the semi-final contest remains in the balance ahead of tomorrow's return leg at Parc des Princes.

  8. Which Arsenal will turn up in Paris?published at 11:29 British Summer Time

The question is, which Arsenal will turn up in Paris?

The Gunners are looking to avoid three defeats in a row for the first time this season.

Mikel Arteta's side last lost back-to-back games outright in November when they were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle in the Premier League before losing to fellow semi-finalists Inter Milan in the league phase of the Champions League.

Their defeat against the Magpies in the EFL Cup semi-finals was also followed by an FA Cup exit on penalties to Manchester United in January.

Meanwhile, the last time they lost three consecutive games was in 2023-24 when they were beaten by Fulham and West Ham in the league before losing to Liverpool in the FA Cup.

However, Mikel Arteta's men have won each of their last four away games in the Champions League, including the 2-1 win against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu in the quarter-finals.

And they will need another of those impressive displays in Paris tomorrow to book their tickets for Munich, where the Champions League final will take place on 31 May.

In the Premier League, Arsenal have gone from challenging for the title to being challenged for second place in the space of a few weeks.

They have won just one of their past five league games, dropping points from winning positions in four with three draws and a defeat.

Mikel Arteta's side drew three games in April, with Everton, Brentford and Crystal Palace all coming from behind to earn a point.

The defeat by Bournemouth made it a staggering 21 points lost this season when ahead - converting just half of those into victories would have Arsenal still a viable contender in the title race.

If any more points are thrown away after going in front, it will be the worst in Arsenal's Premier League history.

They face champions Liverpool, Newcastle and already-relegated Southampton in their final league games.

Arsenal go into arguably the biggest game of their season not in the best of form.

On Saturday, Mikel Arteta's side were beaten by Bournemouth, who came back from behind to win 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium and boost their own European ambitions.

The Gunners fielded a strong side despite having to overturn a 1-0 deficit in the Champions League semi-finals against Paris St-Germain on Wednesday.

And it began so well for the home side as Declan Rice marked his 100th appearance for the club with a first-half opener.

But Dean Huijsen and Evanilson scored for the Cherries in the second half to stun second-placed Arsenal.

The Gunners now need to produce a comeback of their own in Paris if they want to keep their Champions League dream alive.

Great news that Villa's game v Spurs has been moved. As a Villa fan, I assume this will mean any request for their games to be moved next season for European competition to be waved through by the Premier League... right?

    Matt

I do agree that domestic fixtures should be moved to allow teams more time to prepare for European games. It would however be hilarious if Spurs get knocked out on Thursday.

    Arsenal

We have just seen visuals of Paris St-Germain star Ousmane Dembele warming up.

He looks fit to face Arsenal in the Champions League semi-final second leg after shrugging off a hamstring issue.

Now it's time to take a peak into Arsenal's training and all eyes will be on Martin Odegaard, who was seen limping at full-time in the 2-1 defeat by Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Arsenal captain had picked up the knock after inadvertently kicking the turf when taking a shot.

We will also keep an eye on defender Jurrien Timber, who missed the game against the Cherries with an injury.

We understand they are running a little late, but you will be able to watch Mikel Arteta's side training live when they finally do take to the field.

The numbers are constantly fluctuating so expect these to change, but we have some early readings on which teams you think will finish in the top five.

The first number is the number of thumbs up, the second number is the number of thumbs down.

Currently, third-placed Manchester City have the most thumbs up for a top-five finish and a place in next season's Champions League, while Chelsea have the most thumbs down, meaning readers think they are the club most likely to miss out on Champions League football:

Re: Jim, at 10:33. The moving of the Villa vs Spurs fixture is actually just the Premier League catching up with other European leagues, who regularly allow their teams to move domestic league fixtures in order to prioritise European competitions as it reflects well on their domestic leagues and their strength. The Premier League is actually behind other European leagues on doing this. There’s a precedent on the continent.

    Hannah

Re 10:33 - I don't see it as an outrage at all. All other leagues do their best to help their teams succeed in Europe. This could set a precedent for the PL to do so in future, including for Villa.
