Arsenal are down but not out. Would clearly prefer to be in PSG’s position, however, there’s now heaps of pressure on PSG and they’ve got some big decisions to make about how they play this. Do they go all out for the next goal but leave themselves vulnerable at the back? Do they play conservatively, but then have to endure 90+ mins of pressure, knowing that Arsenal have set-pieces in their arsenal (pun intended). Or do they find some kind of middle ground? As a neutral, it’s fascinatingly poised!

  2. What will Calafiori bring to Arsenal squad?published at 12:10 British Summer Time

PSG v Arsenal (1-0 on agg; Wed, 20:00 BST)

    Arsenal

Riccardo Calafiori's return will be welcome news for Arsenal as they enter a crucial juncture in their season.

The Italy defender has featured seven times in the Champions League this season and scored and assisted in the 7-1 win against PSV Eindhoven in the last-16 first leg.

The left-back has also made 17 appearances in the Premier League, with two goals and an assist.

However, it is unlikely that Mikel Arteta will disturb his settled back four of Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Jakub Kiwior and Myles Lewis-Skelly before a must-win game.

Mikel Arteta ruled Riccardo Calafiori out of Arsenal's Premier League game against Bournemouth but was non-committal when asked about the Italy defender's availability for Wednesday's game in Paris.

He said: "Let's see in the next few days how a few of them react."

    Arsenal

Arsenal have been without defender Riccardo Calafiori since a 1-0 win against Chelsea in March.

The Italian suffered a knee injury when representing his country in the Nations League quarter-final defeat to Germany during the March international break.

But we have just seen him return to training ahead of the semi-final second leg.

He was expected to return for the first leg in London but Mikel Arteta will now hope to have him in the squad for the crucial return leg.

Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli are also among those making their way out for training.

Arsenal will need Saka to be at the top of his game if they are to overturn the 1-0 first-leg deficit.

I think we were lucky to only be 1-0 down by the end of the game. Could've been three but we still had chances. The game still is there to be won for us, I'm hoping for an enthralling game with a last-minute goal making it 1-3 to the Arsenal.

We have now got Arsenal's outfield players streaming in for training.

Mikel Arteta will be happy to see Thomas Partey back available for the second leg against Paris St-Germain.

The midfielder had to sit out the first leg after picking up a yellow card in the win against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu.

Captain Martin Odegaard picked up a slight knock against Bournemouth while Jurrien Timber also missed the defeat to the Cherries, so both could be assessed before the Champions League tie.

Riccardo Calafiori, Jorginho, Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Magalhaes and Takehiro Tomiyasu are among the Arsenal players who are missing out due to long-term injuries.

I’ve got to say as an Arsenal fan, I’m nowhere near as nervous as I was before the second leg against Madrid. It's probably because after last week a fair chunk of the expectation has gone and we travel to Paris with nothing to lose, in a way. Hopefully that might give the players the freedom to play how we know they can, as last week it looked for the most part they were trying more not to lose than go after the game and grab it by the scruff of the neck. We play a lot better when it’s free-flowing and the self-inflicted pressure is off.

"That's why I think David Raya is a big player for Arsenal, if he has the game of his life and some of the forwards take their chances, anything can happen."

    Ask Me Anything

    Ask Me Anything

BBC Sport's Ask Me Anything team have been asking for your questions...

Here’s one before the second legs of the Champions League semi-finals.

Bo asked: Why does the first semi-final in the Champions League have nine days between 1st and 2nd legs, and the second semi-final have seven days between 1st and 2nd legs? Why is it not Tue-Tue and Wed-Wed, giving all four teams an equal gap between fixtures?

The answer is to do with broadcasters...

Uefa sell broadcasting packages across the world. Rotating games between Tuesday and Wednesday allows countries who share the broadcasting rights to show clubs an equal number of times.

All teams, throughout the whole tournament, play an equal number of games on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Mikel Arteta asked Arsenal fans to 'bring their boots' to support his side for the Champions League semi-final first leg against Paris St-Germain.

The Gunners faithful duly obliged but the Emirates atmosphere was punctured by Ousmane Dembele's early strike for the visitors.

The French attacker swept home a low finish from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's cross only four minutes into the last-four tie.

PSG dominated the early stages but Arsenal had their chances through Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, who were both denied by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, while Mikel Merino had a header ruled out for offside.

The Parisians were close to doubling their lead late on when Goncalo Ramos hit the bar but the semi-final contest remains in the balance ahead of tomorrow's return leg at Parc des Princes.

  18. Which Arsenal will turn up in Paris?published at 11:29 British Summer Time

The question is, which Arsenal will turn up in Paris?

The Gunners are looking to avoid three defeats in a row for the first time this season.

Mikel Arteta's side last lost back-to-back games outright in November when they were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle in the Premier League before losing to fellow semi-finalists Inter Milan in the league phase of the Champions League.

Their defeat against the Magpies in the EFL Cup semi-finals was also followed by an FA Cup exit on penalties to Manchester United in January.

Meanwhile, the last time they lost three consecutive games was in 2023-24 when they were beaten by Fulham and West Ham in the league before losing to Liverpool in the FA Cup.

However, Mikel Arteta's men have won each of their last four away games in the Champions League, including the 2-1 win against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu in the quarter-finals.

And they will need another of those impressive displays in Paris tomorrow to book their tickets for Munich, where the Champions League final will take place on 31 May.

In the Premier League, Arsenal have gone from challenging for the title to being challenged for second place in the space of a few weeks.

They have won just one of their past five league games, dropping points from winning positions in four with three draws and a defeat.

Mikel Arteta's side drew three games in April, with Everton, Brentford and Crystal Palace all coming from behind to earn a point.

The defeat by Bournemouth made it a staggering 21 points lost this season when ahead - converting just half of those into victories would have Arsenal still a viable contender in the title race.

If any more points are thrown away after going in front, it will be the worst in Arsenal's Premier League history.

They face champions Liverpool, Newcastle and already-relegated Southampton in their final league games.
