Another weird and wonderful night in the second tier is at an end.

We had 15 goals across seven matches, though seven of those came in one game at Carrow Road as Norwich blew away their cobwebs to thump Wayne Rooney's Plymouth.

We have new leaders as Sheffield United cruised to a seventh straight home win without conceding a goal, seeing off Oxford United with ease, while Burnley are up to second after making slightly harder work of it to see-off Coventry.

Sunderland are third after a stalemate against West Brom while Watford are fifth after making it 12 games unbeaten at home - now the best run of any team in the top four divisions after Tottenham's demolition of Man City on Saturday.

At the other end the pressure is mounting on Hull City boss Tim Walter after a fourth straight defeat, at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

Never fear, we have another five big games to come tomorrow night, with Leeds trying to get back to the summit and three of the bottom four scrapping away too.

Rest up and we'll see you back here in 21 hours, ok?

    Thanks for your company, goodnight!

  3. 'We're disappointed not to have won'published at 22:26 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November

    FT: Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

    Sunderland

Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris told Sky Sports: "I think a point was about right. It's a good sign for us against a tough team. I think we dominated the game. We created some chances, probably four or five chances to score, we didn't, and at the end the team is disappointed.

"The final third is the most difficult part of the pitch - you have to face the back five. They defended well. We need discipline and need to be creative in our choices. Probably today our crossing and shots we could have improved.

"We'll keep working. We are getting better in many areas of our game. Now we have built these foundations we are expecting more - it's a good sign. The players and I are feeling disappointed. We have to keep going. This league is very competitive and we have to adapt. We are a young team and we have to learn quickly."

On the trip to leaders Sheffield United on Friday night: " I am very excited, we have many qualities. In our mind it should have been a better result tonight, it's a new challenge on Friday and we'll try to win."

  4. 'One point achieved with resilience'published at 22:21 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November

    FT: Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan speaking to Sky Sports:

"It was a very difficult game, we achieved one point with a lot of work and resilience.

"They had a lot more opportunities than us but at the same time we had to adapt to find solutions to our number eight having to play centre-back.

"According to the circumstances the team had done very well."

  5. 'We're happy with a point'published at 22:15 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November

    FT: Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

    West Bromwich Albion

Player of the match, West Brom's Torbjorn Heggem speaking to Sky Sports:

    "We're happy with the result.

"It was a really tough away game and to keep a clean sheet and have one point I think we are happy.

    On his own performance:

"I felt I got better and better.

"Solid in defence and decent in offence but they are a really good team so it's hard to play out from the back."

  6. 'If you can't win, then make sure you don't lose'published at 22:12 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November

    FT: Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom midfielder Tom Fellows told Sky Sports: "We showed our versatility, we dug in when we needed to.

"If you can't win then don't lose - we'll take the point.

"Of course we want to get into better attacking positions but it's easier said than done when the opposition are pressing high and the crowd are behind them.

"We'll take the point and move on."

  7. Preston make their pointpublished at 22:07 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November

Not much in the way of movement at the bottom, though Hull face an anxious 24 hours as the two sides below them, and Cardiff above them, all play tomorrow.

Plymouth are fifth-bottom and have the worst goal difference in the division after their hammering at Norwich.

Preston's point at Stoke took them up a place.

    Drink it in, Blades fans.

Leeds started the night in first, they are now fourth, though they can return to the summit in 24 hours with a home win against Luton.

Sunderland are down to third, behind Burnley, after another game without a win for Regis Le Bris's side.

West Brom might be unbeaten in nine but their 11 point return from those games means they slip out of the play-off places, with Watford up to fifth.

  9. Are Sunderland in a rut?published at 21:53 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November

    FT: Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

    Gary Bennett
Ex-Sunderland defender on BBC Radio Newcastle

West Brom have come here for a draw and got it.

Questions have got to be asked about if Sunderland are in a rut at the moment?

Some of the players out there looked a bit tired, they have to brush themselves down and go again.

    Should have known...

That's five straight draws for Sunderland, and an incredible eight in nine matches for West Brom.

It wasn't for the lack of trying, the West Brom backline will sleep well tonight after soaking up an incredible amount of pressure, and riding their luck too.

    Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

    Tony Brown
West Brom's all-time record scorer on BBC Radio WM

I don't want to speak too early, there is still time to go and West Brom still have a lot to do.

This would be a golden point if they can hold on this evening.

  14. Postpublished at 21:46 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November

    Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

Sunderland are desperate to get the goal they need to go back to the top of the table courtesy of goals scored.

Albion do look dangerous on the counter with Sunderland pushing so hard for the winner...

  15. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:45 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November

    Stoke 0-0 Preston

No goals here as we saw Preston keeper Freddie Woodman bizarrely see red late on.

It didn't cost his team who held on for a point but it's no wins in eight now for Paul Heckingbottom's side.

It's three draws on the bounce for Stoke who are now five unbeaten and have not lost a game at the Bet365 Stadium in their last seven.

  16. Postpublished at 21:45 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November

    Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

This isn't your average 0-0, I promise you.

Wilson Isidor almost carved out a chance to win it inside the final five minutes as he somehow brought down a high ball in the six yard box with Alex Palmer out of position but the ball is hacked out of the goalmouth by the Baggies defence.

A disappointing result and performance from Coventry.

They did well in the first half to frustrate Burnley, but did not really offer much going forward.

  18. CLOSE!published at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November

    Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

Dan Ballard has somehow kept Sunderland in it as West Brom come close to a goal on the counter attack.

Tom Fellows drives forward and cuts back into the middle for sub Lewis Dobbin, he doesn't make clean contact but his strike looks to be heading inside the post until Ballard's boot diverts the ball off the line.

  20. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:41 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November

    Watford 1-0 Bristol City

Watford pick up another three points at Vicarage Road.

That is 12 games unbeaten at home and they remain the only team in England's top four divisions who are still unbeaten on home soil.

This defeat ends Bristol City’s good away run as they are unable to make it three wins on the road for the first time since September 2021.

The Hornets move into the play-off places.
