  1. 'There will be a confidence that Arsenal will squeeze through'published at 11:58 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February

    Arsenal

Arsenal fan Harry Symeou speaking to BBC Sport on injuries and how it will impact the tie: "I think Arsenal fans are well aware of the fact that we have plenty of problems in our attacking department and we look at PSV as a side that we probably could get through even with our issues and I don't mean that disrespectfully to them.

"They are a side who we met in the Champions League last season in the group stage, and we topped the group beating them comfortably 4-0 at the Emirates. We did draw 1-1 at the Phillips stadium but that was a game where Mikel Arteta made wholesale changes. So there will be a confidence that Arsenal will squeeze through and it's the same in the league, where Arsenal just need to keep picking up the points and the results."

Good question, James. Nothing changes until after the games are played, of course, but here's how the coefficient table looks right now.

If Real Madrid are to win the champions league this year, they'll need to have beaten Man City, Atletico Madrid, probably Arsenal, Liverpool / PSG then Barca / Bayern in a row. And yet knowing them...

Arsenal will face PSV Eindhoven in the last 16 of the Champions League.

The Gunners gained automatic qualification to the round of 16 after finishing within the top eight of the league phase.

They have beaten PSV four times, drawn four and lost twice in 10 games. Their last meeting was the group stage game six in 2023, which ended 1-1.

Anyone who thinks Villa has got an easy tie hasn't watched Club Brugge play this year.

Aston Villa fan who is happy with the draw but seeing everyone thinking it’s an easy win is crazy considering Brugge beating Atalanta and us while we couldn’t beat 10 man Ipswich at home

Unai Emery has been here before in this European competition.

Usually, he has success a lot more in the Europa League, but in the Champions League he had that magnificent run with Villarreal [2021-22 season].

So, we know he's capable of balancing it.

Liverpool in the quarters will be tricky, Madrid in the semi will run them close, but Villa should have too much physicality for Barcelona in the final.

I am very pleased [with the draw].

Aston Villa will be delighted. Obviously, if we get through it does get difficult, it's a great opportunity.

We have brought in players to help the squad and it's looking very good, potentially.

Real Madrid / Barcelona final then?

    Neil, Hull

There’s a decent chance of an El Clasico final. That’d be great for the neutral.

You just look at Liverpool at the moment and where they are. There is just a feeling that they are not controlling games the way they were in the first half of the season, this feels slmost like Liverpool's blip that most teams get throughout the season.

But let's not forget they have lost one game in the Premier League, they have had a couple of losses in the Champions League but they were already through. You just get that feeling now that these two powerhouses [Liverpool and PSG] will go toe-to-toe and what will it come down to? Will it come down to individual moment of brilliance? Will it come down to an organisation of tactics? And who will come out between Luis Enrique and Arne Slot in that respect?

People have been saying for ages they want a less seeded, more random draw for the Champions League to make it more exciting. Now that’s what they’ve got apparently it’s unfair because Liverpool didn’t get an easy draw!

Aston Villa will have learned a lesson [after Club Brugge beat them in the league phase].

To be fair, there was very little in the game. If we come with the players we've got now, we have got a decent team, we shouldn't fear anybody at the minute.

Everyone looks at the quality of Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford.

Rashford, for myself hasn't played well in the last 18 months, but he looks a lot sharper and hungrier.

Asensio is a fantastic footballer and if you add that to what we've got you have got to be happy with that.

  15. 'Liverpool will fancy themselves'published at 11:36 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool and Aston Villa defender on Football News Show

I think Liverpool will be slightly disappointed to draw PSG, ideally they would have liked Benfica.

But if you are going to win the Champions League you are going to have to beat some big teams along the way. They will also fancy their chances against PSG. They are a little bit hit and miss, we know the quality that they have got. They thumped Brest in the last couple of games, 10-0 on aggregate, so they are showing a little bit of form but Liverpool will fancy themselves as well.

It is mouth-watering, it is brilliant. We want the best games.

Aston Villa will be happy with Club Brugge, but there's the potential of facing Liverpool or PSG.

Villa will be thinking, that's the best they could have got.

Guess finishing first for Liverpool didn't make a difference! PSG compared to Villa against Brugge and Arsenal against PSV!

Liverpool top the champions league group but face harder draw, very interesting. Looking forward to Villa vs Liverpool in Quarter final. Tough draw but expect Liverpool vs Real Madrid semi-final. Come on Reds!!

    Andrew, Longridge

A potential Arsenal vs Liverpool semi final in the Champions League along with the Premier League title race. That makes some narrative. The second leg of this potential tie on 6th/7th May follows with Liverpool vs Arsenal in the Premier League on 10th May.

All the Premier League clubs are on the same side of the draw. We could have an all-English quarter-final and an all-English semi-final.
