From one end of the pitch to the other - that was a really well worked goal that started all the way back with goalkeeper Daphne Van Domselaar.

They work it forward quickly and Caitlin Foord is there to clean up Beth Mead's saved effort.

Arsenal have been missing moments like that recently, but it looks like they're playing with a bit more freedom tonight.

Somehow it's still 1-0!

Beth Mead's corner is well met at the near post by Leah Williamson but her glancing header pings off the post.

It comes out to Kim Little whose powerful shot is saved and Alessia Russo is the next to have a go but somehow Valerenga survive as it's cleared by a defender then the keeper.

Katie McCabe fancies her chances from distance and it takes a deflection and goes behind for a corner.

Caitlin Foord finds Mariona Caldentey on the overlap down the left but the Spaniard's square ball is cleared before it can reach the feet of Alessia Russo.

Ooooh. A first real bit of action for Daphne van Domselaar as she has to stretch down to her right to keep out Janni Thomsen's low drive.

Alessia Russo has been a real bright spark in this opening 20 minutes for Arsenal, who are trying to thread the ball through the Valerenga defence for the England striker to run onto.

It hasn't worked out so far, but Russo is looking very dangerous.

Katie McCabe's free-kick is right on the toes of goalkeeper Tove Enblom and it's an easy collection for the Swede.

Elise Thorsnes goes into the referee's book for a heavy shove on Alessia Russo.

Arsenal are dominating the ball and the chances in this opening 15 minutes. Caitlin Foord threads through for Emily Fox on the left-hand side but there's a bit too much on it and it's deflected behind for a corner, which also comes to nothing.

Alessia Russo looking lively in these opening minutes. Emily Fox sends a lovely delivery from the middle of the park to find the striker on the right-hand side.

Russo takes it close to the byline then looks to slot at the near post but Tove Enblom does enough to turn it behind for a corner.

Arsenal have the ball in the back of the net again after Kim Little finds Alessia Russo in plenty of space near the edge of the penalty area.

The England forward turns and slams into the back of the net but the flag is up for offside.

Arsenal went ahead last week against Bayern Munich. Then lost 5-2. They'll need to be careful here.

What a start that is for Arsenal.

It's a mess in the box as Valerenga fail to clear their lines, but Emily Fox is in the right place at the right time and it's an easy finish for her.

That early goal hasn't stopped the Valerenga fans from singing though. There's only a handful of them that have made the trip from Norway and they're down towards the Clock End out singing the Arsenal fans.

Away we go at Emirates Stadium. An intriguing night for the Gunners in store.

Women's Champions League nights are back under the lights at the Emirates and there's a big reminder of Arsenal's pedigree in the competition as you arrive at the ground in north London.

There's a massive poster depicting the Gunners' 2007 triumph with players from that iconic squad, including Kelly Smith and Rachel Yankey, seen pulling the trophy along with red ribbons.

An English team There hasn't been an English winner of the tournament since then and Arsenal have a lot of work to do if they are to get their hands on the trophy again this year.

Here come the teams then on a chilly night at Emirates Sradium.
