It's all got a bit scrappy on the left with a couple of St Polten throw-ins.

Eventually they turn one into an opportunity but Manchester City push the home side back into their own half.

Melike Pekel can't get past Codie Thomas on the left-hand side. St Polten get themselves on a decent counter attack but the 18-year-old puts enough pressure on to prevent the cross coming in.

St Polten win a free-kick in the middle of the park and Mateja Zver tries to catch Khiara Keating out with an ambitious hit but it's high and wide.

Manchester City win a corner and Chloe Kelly takes it short and low to Aoba Fujino at the near post. Not sure what she was going for there but it's scrambled away.

St Polten have their first chance of the game, a warning that they're still in this.

Manchester City's defence almost disappears and it opens up for Kamila Dubcova to have a clear shot at goal. Her effort is straight into teh gloves of Khiara Keating but that was a real opportunity for the hosts.

Manchester City are in down the right-hand side pretty much every time.

It's been a bit sloppy and rushed from the home side.

Manchester City get in behind and Jess Park whips it across. St Polten captain Jennifer Klein sticks out a hopeful foot and it skews towards goal and requires a brilliant reaction save from Carina Schluter in the home side's goal.

Klein gives her keeper a pat on the back. She's bailed her out there.

Alex Greenwood whips it in but it's headed away by St Polten.

Codie Thomas once again looks lively and is linking well with Chloe Kelly down the right.

Manchester City's victory over Barcelona last week was a real statement of intent.

Gareth Taylor's side were aggressive and full of intensity and the three-time European champions were not at their world-beating best.

"It's right up there, definitely," said Taylor, when asked if the performance was one of the best of his time in charge.

There is clearly belief from Taylor that City can go all the way in the competition, despite this being their first appearance in the group stage since 2021.

Asked by DAZN if City could win it, he simply replied: "Yes."

Manchester City teenager Codie Thomas is making her senior debut for the club this evening in Austria.

The 18-year-old English full-back joined City's academy in 2016 and worked her way through the youth teams to become a regular feature in match-day squads this season.

She featured for Gareth Taylor's side in pre-season, playing mostly at right-back.

Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor has warned his side not to get carried away after their win over Women's Champions League holders Barcelona last week.

A brilliant performance saw City beat the three-time European champions 2-0 at Joie Stadium.

"We are novices in this competition after being out of it for a couple of years," said Taylor.

"We have beaten the reigning champions, but it is important that people don't get too carried away."

It is the first time since 2020-21 that City are competing in the Champions League proper and Taylor is keen to avoid any slip ups against Austrian side St Polten, who many will expect them to beat.

"People probably see it as a game that is won before it is played but I don't at all," said Taylor.

"It is a big game for us and an opportunity to build on a great moment last week.

"We have taken loads of confidence, but it is worth being cautious around our ambition."

Vienna-based St Polten are the nine-time Austrian Frauenliga champions.

Dominant in their domestic top-flight, they cruised through the Champions League's three qualifying rounds with wins over teams from Azerbaijan, Albania and Slovenia.

But they lost 2-0 to Swedish side Hammerby in their opening Group D game last week and have never made it into the knockout stages in Europe.

A straightforward night on paper for Manchester City, who have won both of their previous encounters, but Gareth Taylor will be keen not to get too complacent.

Khadija Shaw's late, late winner at Anfield on Sunday gave Manchester City a 2-1 victory over Liverpool and put them top of the Women's Super League, one point clear of Chelsea, who have a game in hand.

Gareth Taylor's side pushed Chelsea to the final day of the season last year but ultimately came up short on goal difference.

This year they have been impressive with three wins from four games in the WSL and a monumental victory over Champions League holders Barcelona in their opening group game last week.
