Ten years is remarkable. He's pleased, and it gets rid of any doubt, and now he can focus on his football. Hopefully, it sets a real positivity around the place. The manager is signing a new contract, and so is your star striker.

I was actually with his dad on the day he signed, and his dad said to me I can't believe how relaxed and calm he is, I would be so nervous. If you're at that top level, you must have that ice in your veins. You deliver on the pitch. I watched him at Brentford and he's always a threat.

Why when it comes to goals, everyone thinks records began when the Premier League started? It's not the same when League Titles are discussed.

Renee Slegers was Jonas Eidevall's assistant coach which earned her the interim position when he resigned in October after the club's loss to Chelsea.

Since then, Arsenal have won 10 games and drawn one across all competitions. In that time they have scored 31 goals and only conceded five.

Slegers won Women's Super League manager for December but her most impressive win so far came in the Women's Champions League against Bayern Munich.

Part of Eidevall's downfall was a 5-2 loss to the German club earlier in the season but with Slegers in charge the Gunners edged out Bayern 3-2 to ensure they topped their group.

“It has meant the world to me to feel the closeness and passion of our supporters during this process, and I want to thank you all for that. We want to deliver something beautiful that’s inspiring and leads to winning trophies. We all have a big part to play in achieving that.”

  9. When could Haaland break Shearer's record?published at 09:59 Greenwich Mean Time

Manchester City's Erling Haaland's new deal has set tongues wagging on when or if he could break the Premier League's all-time goal scoring record. It is currently held by Newcastle legend Alan Shearer, who scored 260 in his career.

Our colleagues at Opta have said Shearer scored 0.59 goals per game. He played 441 games in his career.

They also say if Haaland now makes 200 consecutive Premier League appearances then he would break the record in the 2029/30 season.

It's a crazy long contract, definitely designed to ward off interest. But I think there's no chance Haaland stays that long, most likely is he leaves for Madrid on a record fee long before that.

To those saying Shearer will be scared...you're assuming Haaland stays the length of his contract. Man City could sell him in a couple of years and the fact they gave him a long contract means he commands a higher transfer fee.

  15. 'He's an elite player'published at 09:40 Greenwich Mean Time

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on Sky Sports

You look at what he's brought to the football club. He's an elite player who's taken them to the next level. He deserves a lengthy contract, and he's even still learning.

You see with other clubs how players are getting down to the last few months of their contracts and you wouldn't want that with a player who's your top striker. It's a wonderful decision for both him and the club and I'm absolutely delighted.

Manchester City have hit a surprising slump this season with their form seeing the worst spell in manager Pep Guardiola's career.

The club are sixth in the top-flight and 12 points behind leaders Liverpool.

Though Haaland has been less consistent than he has been in previous seasons for City, the stats tell fans he is still performing despite tricky club form.

The striker is currently second in the Premier League Golden Boot race with 16 goals and one assist. He trails Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, who has scored 18 goals and made 13 assists.
