Goals in the opening minute, and goals in the 98th minute, exactly the type of drama you want from an EFL matchday!

In between we had action aplenty, including six red cards from 10 League Two matches.

A few firsts, too. Barnsley won at home for the first time since 24 February, coincidentally the last time Rotherham had scored away from home in the league before today, too.

Crewe's home win was their first since March, while Chesterfield's home success was their first since returning to the EFL at the start of the season.

Wrexham look blockbuster at the top of League One, while Morecambe's consistent start to League Two continues - the Shrimps have lost all five games 1-0 to prop up the Football League.

Time for us to catch our breath. We'll be back on Thursday night with coverage of Harrogate v Doncaster.

    Bye for now!

That number one spot has a new tenant and... it's not Barrow!

The Bluebirds went into the game with 12 points and a stronger goal difference than Doncaster Rovers, but then came a Barrow red card, and then a Swindon red card and then, 98 minutes in, Swindon pinched their equaliser. Heart-breaker.

Rovers fans will be happy though because now they can claim they are king of the hill after their 1-0 win against former leaders Gillingham, whose unbeaten run has come to its end as they slip back into fourth place.

Notts County keep their campaign without a loss though as they claim victory against Accrington Stanley while it was a bad day out for Walsall after their 1-0 defeat to MK Dons that sees them back in sixth.

Unbeaten Wrexham have made their best ever start to a league season and their fourth win in five matches, a 3-0 derby romp against Shrewsbury, has taken them to the top of League One.

Charlton missed the chance to keep pace with Phil Parkinson's side as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Rotherham while Barnsley have joined the pack on 10 points after in-form Adam Phillips helped them see-off Bristol Rovers, who stay ninth.

    FT: Crewe 1-0 Morecambe

    Graham McGarry
    BBC Radio Stoke commentator

It's been Kane Hemmings' day from the penalty spot.

A well earned three points in the bag.

When asked the question, Filip Marschall made the saves.

    Crewe Alexandra 1-0 Morecambe

Morecambe's hunt for a goal and a point continues but you can't say they didn't give it a go towards the end there.

Crewe will be throwing goalkeeper Filip Marschall into the air for his heroics as they held onto the three points. His great save during the highest heat of Morecambe's pressure cooker likely sealed their fate.

Just that Kane Hemmings penalty that separated a draw and the loss for the Shrimps today. That's one foul they will be rueing for a while - or at least until next Saturday when they host Colchester.

Late drama at Barrow, who concede in the 98th-minute equaliser to draw 1-1 with Swindon at Holker Street.

Notts County retain their unbeaten start to the campaign with a 2-0 win at home to winless Accrington, while Bradford bounce back from defeat last week with a 2-1 win against Carlisle.

A second win of the season for Port Vale, and it's a biggie! 4-1 away at Newport, who end the afternoon with nine men.

Cheltenham left it late, but end a run of three straight losses after defeating Harrogate 1-0 at home, while a first ever league meeting between Colchester United and Bromley ends 1-1.

Chesterfield record their first home league win since returning to the EFL, beating Grimsby 2-1 with 10 men.

    Charlton 1-1 Rotherham

Jordan Hugill flashed a long-range effort inches wide of Will Mannion's goal as the Millers came close to winning it in the closing stages.

Even without it, the Millers have ended their 11-match losing streak on the road.

Liam Kelly's fine low strike was his first goal in four years and ended Rotherham's nine-match run without an away goal, dating back to their Championship defeat at QPR on February 24.

Sub Chuks Aneke blasted the equaliser from Charlton's only shot on target and though they couldn't fashion a winner to go second, that's 10 games unbeaten for Charlton at home.

    MK Dons 1-0 Walsall

MK Dons went into this match in the midst of a bad spell but this win against the in-form Walsall will help raise everyone at Stadium MK and beyond's spirits.

Callum Hendry had the last say with his first-half strike and MK Dons will be hoping this will put an end to their struggles.

Meanwhile, Walsall boss Mat Sadler will likely be putting this one behind him as soon as possible.

  9. FULL-TIMEpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 7 September

    Doncaster 1-0 Gillingham

Doncaster Rovers have ended Gillingham's unbeaten run!

That Billy Sharp shot in the first-half ended up the only goal action after Rovers kept a cool head to keep control of the game.

Not only have they shot the Gills down into fourth on the table, Doncaster have put themselves right into the spot they once held - right at the top.

  10. FULL-TIMEpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 7 September

    Barnsley 2-1 Bristol Rovers

They may have made slightly hard work of this and had to survive seven nervous added minutes but the Barnsley winless run at Oakwell is finally over after eight games. They win infront of their own fans for the first time since February.

Davis Keillor-Dunn scored a goal just 11 minutes into his debut and though the hosts gifted Ruel Sotirou his first Rovers goal just before the break to level, they secured a deserved win through Adam Phillips thumping header on 65 minutes, his fourth goal in three games.

Facing his former club Darrell Clarke will be mightily relieved after surrendering a 2-0 lead in their last home game against Northampton. His side are up to third.

Wrexham are top of the league... (again!).

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 7 September

    Charlton 1-1 Rotherham

... for Rotherham manager Steve Evans. He shrugs the most innocent shrug you've ever seen. Face of a choirboy. Butter wouldn't melt.

His first of the season, this, though he has already served a one-match touchline ban I might add.

  13. EIGHT MINUTES ADDED TIMEpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 7 September

    MK Dons 1-0 Walsall

In case you were wondering how much this game has been impacted by injuries, there's a further eight whole minutes to play at MK Stadium.

Plenty of time for things to change but can Walsall make it happen and continue their brilliant season?

Eight minutes of added time. That's higher than I expected, I think the referee has taken exception to some of the time wasting by the Dons.

Paul Mullin sighting. He's been denied a fourth by Shrews keeper Toby Savin who holds his header. He cuts a frustrated figure.

A Mullin goal drought is not something we have ever really seen in a Wrexham shirt.

That's a fantastic finish as well, two fantastic goals in the game.

That was the only way they were going to score as well, it's a fantastic strike.

They have come back into the game out of nothing.

A great save, outstanding save. What a save from the goalkeeper, somehow Filip Marschall makes the save of the season.

Good gloves once again by the goalie.

The subs worked then. Allan Campbell, who was the other change in Nathan Jones' triple substitution rolls the ball to Chuks Aneke just outside the D. He puts his studs on it, leans back and bends a powerful curling strike past Dillon Phillips and into the top corner.

What a strike. We'll forgive his earlier miss.

That's Charlton's first shot on target.

Can they go on and win it now?

    Crewe Alexandra 1-0 Morecambe

Morecambe are thrashing in the chances as they try to avoid the disappointment of yet another loss - and another goalless performance to boot!

Crewe goalkeeper Filip Marschall is earning his pay in the closing stages. First with a stunning point-blank save, then keeping out a powered-up strike from Adam Lewis and now he has a corner defend.

Can Morecambe get that elusive goal? They are giving it a go.
