  2. Transfers pending and done deals – recappublished at 18:01 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

Tick tock. How are we all holding up? Here are the top lines from today so far.

    Completed deals:

Evan Ferguson, 20, has joined West Ham from Brighton on loan for the rest of the season.

Brighton have confirmed the signing of Stefanos Tzimas, 19, from Bundesliga 2 side FC Nuremberg - the move is subject to international clearance.

James Ward-Prowse, 30, has returned to West Ham from Nottingham Forest after the two clubs came to a mutual agreement to end his season-long loan.

Brighton winger Caylan Vickers, 20, has joined League One side Mansfield Town on loan until the end of the season.

    What deals could happen?

Sourced have told BBC Sport that Spurs have agreed a deal to sign 19-year-old Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich.

There’s a lot of rumours in Portugal that Manchester City's pursuit of Nico Gonzalez has been successful, and the Porto midfielder is on his way to England. City however, for now, remain adamant that there is no agreement.

Southampton's Flynn Downes, 26, could be a player who makes a late move ahead of this evening's deadline. Downes is linked with a move to Ipswich

AC Milan are close to agreeing a loan deal until the end of the season for 25-year-old Chelsea attacker, Joao Felix.

Mario Lemina is close to returning to Galatasaray from Wolves for £2.5m.

Aston Villa still expect to wrap up the loan signing of Marco Asensio, 29, from Paris St-Germain.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien, 26, is closing in on a loan move to Championship side Swansea City, reports Nick Mashiter.

Tottenham Hotspur have reignited their interest in Chelsea defender Axel Disasi and hope to a strike a loan deal for the 26-year-old before the deadline.

One set to come in the other way at Chelsea is St Etienne midfielder Mathis Amougou, 19, for a fee of around £12m.

Everton teenager Harrison Armstrong, 18, is set to head out on loan to Championship strugglers Derby County.

    Aston Villa

Sorry Samuel 17:15 but as a Villa fan I have to disagree with you. I don't think we should ever have gone near Felix. He's a journeyman and would never have settled at the club and would have wanted out of Birmingham (Robinho to Man City comes to mind). I'm in agreement over Disasi, but then we need a CB and I can't see why we haven't tried all over the place for at least one. Names come to mind include; Tomori, Chalobah, Disasi, Branthwaite, Guehi... That's just the initial thoughts. They are quality international players, even on loan. We need defenders more than attackers like Felix or even Asensio.

    Chelsea

It's looking like Chelsea are getting pretty close to signing France midfielder Mathis Amougou for a fee of about £12m.

The 19-year-old from Saint Etienne is believed to be an exciting talent for the future and could be heading back out on loan to Chelsea's sister club Strasbourg in Ligue 1 to develop further.

A product of the prestigious Clairefontaine French football academy, he officially moved to Saint Etienne in 2021.

Of Cameroonian descent, Amougou is eligible to represent both Cameroon and France at international level and has made appearances for the France youth teams.

It has been mentioned before, but I think that Delap could be a very shrewd signing for Arsenal. Maybe not necessarily to take the season away from Liverpool (that's not going to happen, with or without great striker) but as a player for next season. I'd be keen to see him become a very valuable player under Arteta.

  8. Brighton winger Vickers joins Mansfield on loanpublished at 17:47 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

Brighton winger Caylan Vickers has joined League One Mansfield Town on loan until the end of the season.

Vickers joined Albion from Reading on deadline day in February 2024, and has made 20 Premier League 2 appearances for Shannon Ruth’s team.

Albion technical director David Weir said: “Caylan has been in good form this season for our under-21s and the opportunity to be involved in a first-team environment is the next natural step.

“We’re looking forward to seeing how he progresses with Mansfield during the rest of the season.”

I'd love to hype this up like Jim White wearing that yellow tie he used to do for years on the telly but the actual fact of the matter is the only Premier League signing today (barring players who have gone back out on loan) is Evan Ferguson from Brighton to West Ham. And that was a loan.

Come on Premier League clubs, throw obscene amounts of cash at each other for our entertainment.

As an Arsenal fan. I’ve given up like the board and Mikel have done. We obviously aren’t trying to win anything this year. We are out of two cups, too far behind Liverpool to challenge and now we have no ambition in the transfer market either.

It's not just the big names who have their futures decided in transfer windows.

Lesser known players are also the subject of interest too.

Manchester United brought teenage goalkeeper Elyh Harrison back from his loan spell at National League North side Chester earlier this month.

Harrison was on the bench for yesterday's home defeat by Crystal Palace.

Despite interest from League One and League Two, the 18-year-old will spend the rest of the season at Old Trafford.

The Blues also have French top-flight club Strasbourg as a potential landing spot for Amougou to develop in future seasons.
