The main action taking place at Liverpool today is concerning their younger players and the club weighing up whether to keep them at the club or send them out on loan for experience.

It’s seems likely that Reds forward Jayden Danns, 19, will be allowed to go out on loan to Sunderland, while winger Kaide Gordon, 20, will join Portsmouth until the end of the season.

Liverpool’s 20-year-old midfielder James McConnell, who impressed manager Arne Slot in a Champions League defeat at PSV Eindhoven last week, will be staying put.

Liverpool and head coach Arne Slot are in a position of luxury as they watch their rivals scour the market for reinforcements as the clock ticks down.

Six points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand, no incoming activity is expected at Anfield, although some promising Liverpool youngsters could be targets for loan deals.

Liverpool were questioned, not least by their own fans, for a lack of activity in the summer after Slot's arrival, especially after Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi turned his back on a £51m move to Anfield.

Now, as they show relentless form domestically and in the Champions League, they can sit back and reflect on the strength of their squad with no deals lined up for transfer deadline day.

Burnley have once again outdone themselves when it comes to transfer video announcements.

Last week Jonjo Shelvey was revealed in a Traitors-style video, while at the start of the month Ashley Barnes was 'back' in an Independence Day post.

For Marcus Edwards' signing they've gone with a classic from Friends.

"Did She Get Off The Plane?" asks Ross.

"I got off the plane," replies Edwards, via the miracle of green-screen technology.

Over to the Championship now and Burnley have signed 26-year-old Marcus Edwards from Sporting on loan until the end of the season.

The English forward started his career at Tottenham’s academy, but only featured in an EFL Cup game for Spurs.

Edwards joined Sporting in January 2022, but has only featured in six league games this year.

Edwards told Burnley website: “Burnley is like a Premier League club.”

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton have become the first Premier League club to make a confirmed signing on transfer deadline day, bringing in Greece Under-21 forward Stefanos Tzimas from Bundesliga 2 side FC Nuremburg for an undisclosed fee.

The move is subject to international clearance.

Tzimas, 19, has signed a contract until June 2030 but will remain with Nuremburg on loan until the end of the season.

Aston Villa's 19-year-old Serbia defender Kosta Nedeljkovic has joined RB Leipzig on loan until the end of the season.

Villa are also looking to land three-time Champions League winner Marco Asensiofrom Paris St-Germain.

Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has flown to Germany to complete a loan move to Dortmund.

Tottenham won't be signing Chelsea defender Axel Disasi on deadline day.

The 26-year-old is available on loan and not blocked from choosing his next destination - as long as terms are right, with a loan fee needing to be agreed.

But the north Londoners are not making a move for the Frenchman, which leaves him either with a move to Aston Villa or staying at Stamford Bridge.

It’s excellent for him. He had to get back on the pitch and I think everybody is looking forward to seeing how he gets on because he’s been banished by Ruben Amorim, it could be a masterstroke by Villa.

It’s a loan until the end of the season with an option to buy of £40 million, which if Rashford hits his stride seems like a bit of a bargain. If not, he can go back to Manchester United as he’s under contract there until 2028 and then the problem returns to them.

He’ll have a point to prove. Villa are going all in on this, covering 75% of his salary which is £325,000 per week, it could even rise to as much as 90% with bonuses related to his performance.

Unai Emery, their manager, loves him. He thinks he can bring him back to his top level. He regards him as one of the top attackers in world football so this is probably the most fascinating transfer of the entire market.

There’s a lot riding on it for Rashford, for club and country.

Manchester United

Manchester United have used the January transfer window to send some first-team players out on loan.

Marcus Rashford has joined Aston Villa until the end of the season in a deal that includes an option to buy for £40m - sources said the terms mean a minimum of 75% of Rashford's wages will be covered.

Antony has joined La Liga side Real Betis until the end of the season - United sources say the deal is covering a minimum of 84% of Antony's salary.

United have also sent out academy products Daniel Gore to Rotherham United and Ethan Wheatley to Walsall on loan until the end of the season.

Who have United brought in?

Prior to the Red Devils' 2-0 loss at home to Crystal Palace - PatrickDorgu, 20, and AydenHeaven, 18, were unveiled as United's latest signings.

Dorgu has signed from Lecce on a five-and-a-half-year deal worth £25m (30m euros), with a potential £4.1m (5m euros) in add-ons.

Heaven has joined from Arsenal on a four-and-a-half-year contract, the 18-year-old cost an undisclosed compensation fee.

Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has flown to Germany and is completing his loan move to Dortmund.

The 20-year-old needs to pass a medical but is expected to make the switch before the transfer deadline.

Chukwuemeka is considered surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge by manager Enzo Maresca and has been encouraged to leave.

Meanwhile, academy defender Somto Boniface is also expected to join Ipswich Town on a permanent deal.

Nico Gonzalez is a 23-year-old centre midfielder at Portuguese club Porto.

The Spaniard joined Porto from Barcelona in 2023 and has since made 68 appearances for the Dragons, winning the Portuguese Cup and Super Cup.

Although he's probably being seen by the Manchester City higher ups as a replacement for Rodri, Gonzalez has also had spells as both an attacking and a box-to-box midfielder.

A young, technical midfielder with plenty of adaptability is just the sort of player Pep Guardiola likes.

And here's the clincher, in December he was named the Primeira Liga Midfielder of the Month. You'll never sing that...

Everton manager David Moyes will be seeking attacking reinforcements as the deadline approaches, despite a stunning return to the club with three wins in his first four games.

Beto scored twice in the 4-0 win against Leicester City, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja, on loan from Chelsea, are long-term absentees.

The problem Moyes faces is a shortage of realistic candidates and a shortage of big money to acquire them.

Might be a day spent on, or by, the telephone for the Scot and director of football Kevin Thelwell.

Brighton are on the verge of completing a €25m (£20.79) deal for Greece Under-21 international Stefanos Tzimas.

The 19-year-old has been one of the most sought-after young players in Europe this transfer window and Brighton believe they have landed a major coup by getting him.

The plan is for Tzimas to stay with German second tier club FC Nurnberg for the remainder of the season before moving to the Amex in the summer.

He is already on loan in Germany from Greek club PAOK.

We think Brighton's Evan Ferguson will make a switch to West Ham on loan today.

Yesterday, Simon Stone reported Ferguson was set to have a medical at the London club.

Ferguson hasn't been given many chances under Seagulls manager Fabian Hurzeler, although he did come back from an ankle injury to make his 15th appearance of the season at the weekend.

West Ham boss Graham Potter knows Ferguson well, giving him his Brighton debut back in August, 2021.

West Ham need a striker with Jarrod Bowen, Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio all currently out injured.

And Ferguson, who was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year two seasons ago, appears to fit the bill.

Chelsea have a lot of potential outgoings in the works today:

• Defender Ben Chilwell widely tipped with a move to Crystal Palace
• Defender Axel Disasi is attracting interest from both Aston Villa and Tottenham on loan
• Joao Felix is also been widely linked with a move to AC Milan; although it appears be agent-driven and it is unclear whether Chelsea will accept it
• Fellow forward Christopher Nkunku continues to be linked with Bayern Munich and Manchester United but BBC Sport's latest contacts have played down the chance of his exit
• One source has explained that midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has travelled to complete his loan move to Borussia Dortmund
• Marseille are also in talks with defender Aaron Anselmino about a potential loan deal but it could be linked to Disasi's situation
• Meanwhile, academy defender Somto Boniface is expected to join Ipswich on a permanent deal.

Chelsea have been linked with a blockbuster attacking signing, with names including Alejandro Garnacho, Jamie Gittens and Mathys Tel all being linked during the transfer window, but news on incomings has gone quiet.
