Sad to see Felix go - he’s impressed on every time he’s got a game and shown initiative and industry otherwise lacking in our forward line. The problem is Maresca doesn’t know how to play him.

  11. The Disasi winter sagapublished at 21:35 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Disasi is the winter saga that many didn't realise they needed.

The defender initially wanted to stay and fight for his place - as reported on BBC Sport earlier this month - but he was told in no uncertain terms that it would be better to leave Chelsea.

Both Aston Villa and Tottenham emerged as suitors on deadline but Spurs quickly went cold on signing the France international after feeling he didn't want to join.

His agents then, seemingly out of nowhere, appeared to convince Disasi that Spurs was a better but they ultimately lost out to Villa.

What actually went on behind the scenes a player caught between the two sides arguing their case - with Chelsea receiving similar terms regardless of where he went - and not massively influential despite simply wanting him out.

Pep Guardiola has said that losing Rodri was a blow and not because he couldn't cover it but because the way he wanted to cover it, with John Stones and Manuel Akanji, wasn't achievable.
