  1. Man Utd wait on Martinez injury newspublished at 13:11 Greenwich Mean Time

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

Manchester United unveiled two defenders at Old Trafford yesterday in Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven and another who was expected to leave Old Trafford remains - for now - in Tyrell Malacia.

Those players may be needed even more now as Lisandro Martinez looks set for an extended spell on the injury list after being stretchered off in tears during yesterday's defeat by Crystal Palace.

Martinez appeared to jar his knee as he tried to turn and went down in agony.

Head coach Ruben Amorim said he thought the damage was 'serious' but we have not have any further communication from Old Trafford since.

Manchester United are in a tricky situation.

They have been condemned as a club for overpaying on players of limited quality. Their current squad clearly is deficient in a number of areas.

So, do they push to sign someone, taking a chance it does not work - thereby getting more criticism for following the same path as before - or stick with what they have - and get criticised for not spending.

  7. Transfers pending and done deals – recappublished at 13:00 Greenwich Mean Time

Just 10 hours to go on transfer deadline day.

    What deals could happen?:

BBC Sport's Simon Stone reports Manchester City are yet to reach agreement with Porto over Spain Under-21 midfielder Nico Gonzalez.

BBC Sport’s Nick Mashiter and Nizaar Kinsella report that Wolves' £10m bid for Red Star Belgrade defender Nasser Djiga, 22, has been accepted.

Brentford are set to keep hold of Yoane Wissa withPhil McNulty confirming the "trail has gone cold" for the 28-year-old after Nottingham Forest were interested in the forward.

Ben Chilwell is likely to complete his loan move to Crystal Palace after Palace only have one natural left-sided defender in Tyrick Mitchell.

Ipswich are poised to sign West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer - the 28-year-old is due for a medical at Portman Road ahead of the deadline and will leave the Hawthorns having come through the academy.

    Completed deals:

Brighton have confirmed the signing of Stefanos Tzimas from Bundesliga 2 side FC Nuremberg - the move is subject to international clearing.

James Ward-Prowse has returned to West Ham from Nottingham Forest after the two clubs came to a mutual agreement to end his season-long loan.

  8. Any more business for Burnley?published at 12:57 Greenwich Mean Time

    Shamoon Hafez
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Championship promotion hopefuls Burnley have claimed a significant coup with the loan signing of former England youth international Marcus Edwards from Sporting.

The 26-year-old was linked in the past to top six teams in the Premier League, but it seems like his stock has fallen recently, not playing for the Portuguese side since November.

Club insiders have said the appeal of working under ex-Tottenham coach Scott Parker was the major contributing factor in Edwards joining the Turf Moor outfit.

Having also brought in Jonjo Shelvey, Ashley Barnes and Oliver Sonne during the transfer window, Edwards might well be the final arrival this winter.

In terms of outgoings, defender John Egan looks like he may be, external heading to Hull and other outgoings are not currently anticipated...although a big bid for one of the players could change that.

  9. Nkunku to stay at Chelsea - reportspublished at 12:54 Greenwich Mean Time

France forward Christopher Nkunku will stay at Chelsea after reported interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United came to nothing, according to a story in the Athletic.

David Ornstein's article suggests Bayern and United balked at Chelsea's £65m valuation, with both clubs unwilling to go above £40m.

It has also been reported that United approached Chelsea on Sunday about taking the 27-year-old on loan, but neither the player nor the club were interested in a short-term deal.

Chelsea are understood, however, to be interested in allowing Portugal forward Joao Felix to leave the club on loan before the end of the transfer window.

If United aren’t to add today in the forward line, then I really hope that Amorim looks to promote someone fell the youth set up to give us something fresh as an option as Hojlund and Zirkzee have failed to fire and the false 9 doesn’t work for United.

  12. Latest on Asensio, Chilwell and Telpublished at 12:50 Greenwich Mean Time

Marco Asensio, Ben Chilwell and Mathys Tel have all been linked to moves today.

Aston Villa are interested in signing three-time Champions League winner Marco Asensio from Paris St-Germain.

Since switching from Real Madrid to the French capital, he has made 47 appearances for Luis Enrique's side, scoring seven and helped the club to the Ligue 1 title in 2023-2024.

Ben Chilwell is likely to complete his move from Chelsea to Crystal Palace, reports BBC Sport's Alex Howell.

Chilwell, 28, has not made a Premier League appearance since April 2024 and was told last August he was not part of Enzo Maresca's plans.

There have been no further Mathys Tel developments so far today, but there's still plenty of time for a Premier League club to make a move for the 19-year-old forward.

Alex Palmer to Ipswich would be move number three for Premier League clubs so far today.

Earlier Brighton signed Stefanos Tzimas from Bundesliga 2 side FC Nuremburg and immediately sent him back out on loan.

James Ward-Prowse returned to West Ham from fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest after his loan was ended by mutual agreement.

Ipswich are poised to sign West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer.

The 28-year-old is due for a medical at Portman Road ahead of the deadline and will leave The Hawthorns having come through the academy.

The total amount Ipswich are paying has been reported as being up to £5m, although various sources are disputing the exact fee.

Palmer has made 104 appearances for West Brom, who are sixth in the Championship, with the Baggies opting to sell him as they believe in Josh Griffiths, Joe Wildsmith and England Under-19 international Ben Cisse they have a strong succession plan.

The Tractor Boys have no plans on moving other goalkeepers out before this evening's deadline with Palmer coming in as Christian Walton is sidelined for a number of weeks with a groin injury

    Crystal Palace

For Palace to sell Guehi we would need to sign at least one new centre back and possibly two. At the moment after Chalabah was recalled and Riad got injured, we only have 3 centre backs and we play with 3 centre backs. We were already exploring options to sign a centre back before this Guehi stuff came up so I highly doubt this could happen this late on.

    Mark

Palace right to reject bid from Spurs for Guehi. A replacement (if they could get one) would need time to bed in, they have to pay a significant portion of the fee to Chelsea anyway, and losing Guehi could cost them league positions and therefore money. It's a lose-lose for Palace and doesn't make financial sense!

  18. No breakthrough in City Nico Gonzalez pursuitpublished at 12:31 Greenwich Mean Time

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

Manchester City are yet to reach agreement with Porto over Spain Under-21 midfielder Nico Gonzalez.

Pep Guardiola would like to bring Gonzalez to the Etihad Stadium as he tries to find adequate cover for Rodri, who is unlikely to play in the Premier League for the rest of the season.

However, they cannot agree over the price and until that changes, it would happen.

There is also interest in Douglas Luiz, who had two years with City but never played a game for the club as he spent both seasons in Spain with Girona.

But again, City and Juventus cannot agree over the structure of any loan move.

  19. Who is Wolves-bound Nasser Djiga?published at 12:28 Greenwich Mean Time

As we've just revealed to you, Wolves have had a £10m bid for Red Star Belgrade defender Nasser Djiga.

The 22-year-old has been capped seven times by Burkino Faso and completed a move to Red Star in 2024 after impressing during a loan spell a year before.

At six foot four, the imposing centre-back impressed for Red Star during their Champions League campaign, Djiga has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe.

Crystal Palace are likely to complete the loan signing of Ben Chilwell.

Palace only have one natural left-sided defender in Tyrick Mitchell.

Oliver Glasner was asked about potentially signing Chilwell after the win over Manchetser United yesterday and gave a hint of what might be coming.

"I expect one more signing on a position where we have just one player playing with his good foot there," he said. "Let's see who it will be." Glasner said.

Chilwell is one of the Chelsea players who has been assigned to the 'bomb squad' and has played just 45 minutes of football for Chelsea this season.
