    Good point Daniel.

Maybe Arsenal are getting unfair criticism then? Which club could really do with a signing today? Even more than the Gunners.

Arsenal have made some great Jan signings - Aubameyang and, whilst he splits opinion, there is no denying Ozil was a great signing. Need Arteta to pull one out of the bag today!

Ruairi McConville, 19, has completed a permanent move to Norwich City, for undisclosed terms from Brighton.

The Northern Ireland international has only featured twice this season for the Seagulls in the EFL and FA Cup.

Brighton technical director, David Weir said: "Ruairi wants to play regular senior football and establish himself.

“The offer from Norwich City is a very good one for the club, as well as giving Ruairi that opportunity, and we wish him the best of luck for the future.”

Thanks Anon. Remember to leave your names on texts if you can. I can't recall an example of Arsenal signing a forward early in a transfer window.

All I can remember is everyone staying up late to watch them sign Andrei Arshavin in 2009, that was a deadline day move.

What I find incredible is Arsenal have known for 18 months they need a striker, and yet again we seem to be sleep walking into the final few hours of the window.

Glad to see JWP back. Madness that we loaned him out in the first place, been devoid of ideas and leadership all season and sat on someone else’s bench is our player, a Premier League skipper, who can change a game with one swish of his boot from a set piece. Madness. Let’s get Potts back too!

Chelsea and West Ham look like being two of the more active clubs on deadline day, with Evan Ferguson about to join the latter from Brighton and James Ward-Prowse returning from Nottingham Forest.

It is one of those days that underlines managers are only partially involved in deals as Enzo Maresca and Graham Potter's biggest task today is the Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge tonight.

It always feels a little unfair to me that a match is being played on transfer window night. West Ham were in the same position last season, when they had a match at Luton.

How about a Marc Guehi update?

The Guardian are reporting that Crystal Palace have rejected a £70m bid from Tottenham for the England defender.

Back in August sources told BBC Sport that Palace value the centre-back at around £70m.

They rejected three Newcastle bids for Guehi in the summer with the last believed to be in the region of £60m.

Guehi, 24, has just 18 months left on his contract. Will the Eagles cash in if Spurs match their valuation?

Should a £70m deal go through, it would be Tottenham's highest transfer fee paid and Palace's highest received.

We're another hour closer to the 23:00 GMT deadline, so let's have a recap of the past hour - the pace is picking up!

    Completed deals:

Brighton have confirmed the signing of Stefanos Tzimas from Bundesliga 2 side FC Nuremberg - the move is subject to international clearing.

James Ward-Prowse has returned to West Ham from Nottingham Forest after the two clubs came to a mutual agreement to end his season-long loan.

In the Championship, Burnley have signed 26-year-old Marcus Edwards from Sporting on loan until the end of the season.

    What deals could happen?:

It has emerged that Tottenham are interested in signing Crystal Palace captain, Marc Guehi, 24, who was strongly linked with a move to Newcastle in the summer.

French forward, Mathys Tels, 19 has been linked with a move to the Premier League with Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea or Aston Villa.

BBC Sport's Phil McNulty reports Liverpool are "in a position of luxury" as they don't intend on bringing in any reinforcements.

However, Jayden Danns, 19, could possibly go out on loan to Championship side Sunderland.

James Ward-Prowse had been on loan at Nottingham Forest this season, but has returned to West Ham early after the two clubs came to a mutual agreement.

There was no obligation to buy in the initial loan deal.

Ward-Prowse made just nine league appearances for Forest this season.

In announcing his return, West Ham said that the 30-year-old midfielder would add "experience, depth and quality" to Graham Potter's squad.

  14. Arsenal 'ready' but signings not imminentpublished at 10:58 Greenwich Mean Time

The talk around Arsenal coming into this January transfer window was whether they would sign a striker.

Mikel Arteta has been clear throughout January that if they saw a deal that would improve the squad and help the team long term then the club would do it.

The injury to Gabriel Jesus has lessened the options the club has but they are still finding the back of the net.

Arsenal are the second highest scorers in the Premier League after their 5-1 win over Manchester City and the club's top scorer Kai Havertz was one of those to find the net.

While the Germany forward has been criticised this season, he now has 15 goals in all competitions.

Sources with knowledge have said that Arsenal are ready to make signings, but new players aren't imminent.

Mathys Tel has been linked to the club but a move for him from Bayern Munich doesn't look likely.

    Arsenal

You are not alone Limo in wondering whether Arsenal will add to his attacking options?

It's the question that has been consistently asked since Gabriel Jesus' injury in the FA Cup loss to Manchester United.

Kai Havertz is Arsenal's top scorer this season with nine goals, but missed chances has raised concerns from Arsenal fans.

Newcastle's Alexander Isak was linked to Arsenal, but Phil McNulty BBC Sport's chief football writer said: "I don't see any way Arsenal signing Isak can happen."

After yesterday's emphatic win against Manchester City, Mikel Arteta told Sky Sports: "We have been clear from every angle of what we want to do."

Ollie Watkins was also linked to the Gunners earlier in the window, but Unai Emery confirmed Watkins was "happy" to stay with the Villans.

  18. Tel deal must be right for all parties - Bayernpublished at 10:47 Greenwich Mean Time

On Friday, Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl said that any move for forward Mathys Tel before the transfer window closes must be "right for all parties".

The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Allianz Arena and Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Aston Villa are said to be interested in the 19-year-old.

Tel joined Bayern Munich from French club Rennes in 2022 and has scored 16 times in 82 appearances.

But he has faced reduced playing time under manager Vincent Kompany this season and has told the club he wants to leave.

"Mathys can imagine a move away. We need to come to terms with the facts," said Eberl.

"Whether it's a loan or a sale, we'll see. It needs to be right for all parties. Will we do it? Our squad is very well set up."

David in Maspalomas: The anonymous Arsenal fan who suggested Crystal Palace might let Jean-Philippe Mateta leave for £50m is very optimistic. They are also very wrong to suggest that Palace have no chance of European qualification. Seven points behind Villa, in eighth place, on our current form, makes it a very real chance.

Will Mathys Tel be today's biggest move?

Frenchman Tel, 19, has only made eight appearances for Bayern this season, having fallen out of favour with boss Vincent Kompany.

Since joining from French club Rennes in 2022 he has scored 16 times in 82 appearances for the German side.

Last week L'Equipe said Bayern and Tottenham agreed a £50m transfer fee, although Tel turned Spurs down according to reports.

Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Aston Villa have all also been linked with Tel over the past week. Will the teenager choose any of those clubs? We'll keep you updated.
