Ruben Amorim will take charge of Manchester United on 11 November but he will have to wait a little while until his first match as head coach.

There will be 13 days between his first day and his first game, which will be away to Ipswich in the Premier League on Sunday, 24 November (16:30 GMT).

The trip to Portman Road will see Amorim take on a side led by former United coach Kieran McKenna, who had been strongly linked with the managerial position at Old Trafford in the summer.

Although Ruben Amorim himself described the situation around Manchester United’s managerial situation a "soap opera", the Premier League club actually acted pretty quickly.

Once it had been decided Erik ten Hag had to go following Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at West Ham, United knew who they wanted and sent chief executive Omar Berrada to Lisbon on Monday to speak to Sporting directly.

The interim period has been spent negotiating down a 30-day notice period and Sporting sorting out an unrelated bond issue.

It quickly became obvious Amorim was not going to be in the dugout for United’s Premier League game against Chelsea this weekend, which took some of the pressure off, and while there was a hope Sporting may release the 39-year-old early, that did not happen either.

Under the circumstances, Old Trafford officials feel they have ended up with a satisfactory situation that allows Ruud van Nistelrooy to stay in charge for another three home games and the new man’s first game coming at Ipswich on 24 November.

"He will join until June 2027 with a club option of an additional year once he has fulfilled his obligations to his current club. He will join Manchester United on Monday 11 November.

Manchester United

Ruben Amorim will join Manchester United on Monday, 11 November, allowing him to take charge of Sporting's next three games.

He has signed a contract until June 2027, with the option of an additional year.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will remain as interim manager until Amorim's arrival.

It's official! Manchester United have confirmed the appointment of Ruben Amorim as their new head coach.

Fulham have won just one of their last nine league games against Brentford (D3 L5), beating them 3-2 in the first ever Premier League meeting between the sides in August 2022.

Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has scored eight goals in the Premier League this season, with only Erling Haaland scoring more (11). He has scored 11 goals in his last 13 London derbies, including two goals at Craven Cottage in a 3-0 win last season.

Tottenham have lost three of their last four Premier League meetings with Aston Villa, though did win 4-0 at Villa Park in March. They had only lost two of their previous 21 against the Villans (W16 D3).

Villa have won away at Spurs in both meetings under Unai Emery. They last won three consecutive away league games against Spurs between 1922 and 1924.

Southampton have won 13 Premier League home games against Everton – the joint most wins they have recorded against a single side in the competition (also 13 against Newcastle).

Everton have gone five Premier League games unbeaten (W2 D3) and could go six without defeat for the first time under Sean Dyche.

The Toffees have however lost 10 of their last 14 Premier League matches in November (W2 D2), failing to score in eight of those matches.

Crystal Palace have won six of their last seven Premier League games against Wolves (L1), as many wins as they had managed in their previous 20 league matches against them (D4 L10).

Wolves are winless in nine Premier League games this season (D2 L7). They have only had a longer winless start to a top-flight season once - 14 games in 1983-84.

Bournemouth have not won any of their 20 league games against Manchester City (D2 L18), with an aggregate score of 45-7. It is the most a side has faced another without ever winning in English Football League history.

Bournemouth have had more shots following a high turnover than any other side in the Premier League this season (20). However, City have faced a league-low three such shots so far.

Going by the squad list on Manchester City's official website, it does appear that Pep Guardiola's claim of only having 13 fit outfield players is accurate.

Obviously he will be able to call upon youth-team players, but excluding those injured, these are Manchester City's available first-team outfield players:

Defenders:

Nathan Ake, Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, Rico Lewis, John Stones, Josh Wilson-Esbrand

Midfielders:

Phil Foden, Ilkay Gundogan, Mateo Kovacic, James McAtee, Matheus Nunes, Bernardo Silva

Forwards:

Erling Haaland

That adds up to 13 outfield players but includes Josh Wilson-Esbrand, who has not made a first-team appearance for the club.

Ipswich have won all three of their Premier League home games against Leicester – 4-1 in January 1995, 2-0 in January 2001 and 2-0 in December 2001.

Leicester have faced more shots than any other side in the Premier League this season (168) while Ipswich have the highest expected goals against (21.5).

Defensive midfielder Rodri is out for the rest of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in September.

Attacking midfielder Oscar Bobb is also out long term after fracturing his leg in August. Guardiola said at the time he would be out for "three or four months"., external

Kevin de Bruyne, who missed five months of last season following surgery, is out with a thigh injury and while he was initially expected to be only out short term, Guardiola said recently that he "didn't know", external when he would be fit.

Full-back Kyle Walker is out with a knee injury with no date on a potential return, while forwards Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish have missed recent games with injuries. Guardiola said he did not expect, , externalDoku to be fit before the November international break.

Prior to Wednesday's defeat to Tottenham, Guardiola had named only seven substitutes against Southampton at the weekend and against Sparta Prague last week, with two goalkeepers included on the bench for the latter.

"Tomorrow we have two goalkeepers and Erling Haaland in the training session," Guardiola said after the Tottenham loss.

"The rest, we don't have anything else."

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola says Manchester City have "13 players" and are in "trouble" after his side suffered more injuries in the League Cup defeat at Tottenham on Wednesday.

The visitors, already without six first-team players for the game, lost defender Manuel Akanji with a calf issue in the warm up.

Forward Savinho was then taken off on a stretcher in the 63rd minute of the game after appearing to hurt his ankle.

Guardiola also said defender Ruben Dias, who went off at half-time, is "struggling" sometimes.
