Tottenham salvaged something out of a miserable season when they defeated Manchester United in the Europa League final to not only win their first silverware in 17 years but also secure Champions League football next season. That came as a huge respite for manager Ange Postecoglou and offers a platform for Spurs to kick on in the upcoming season - hopefully starting with a good transfer window.

    Who are they linked with?

Croatian defender Luka Vuskovic, signed in 2023, will join the club this summer while Kevin Danso's loan from RC Lens has been made permanent. Mathys Tel's loan move from Bayern Munich has an option to buy, which Spurs will have to decide whether to trigger or not. Yoanne Wissa could be one player that Tottenham could target this summer, having previously enquired Brentford about his availability.

    What about departures?

Timo Werner's loan from RB Leipzig has now ended while Fraser Forster, Sergio Reguilon and Alfie Whiteman left Spurs following the conclusion of their contracts. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's loan to Marseille has also become a permanent transfer. Sorry Jon 14:03. That isn't what Gary Neville was implying at all. Yes he mentioned money but he was suggesting Fernandes did it to fight for United, the team, the club, and that says a lot about his character. Neville was not suggesting money was the defining factor.

After a eight-year absence, Sunderland are back in the Premier League following a dramatic win against Sheffield United in the Championship play-off final at Wembley last month. But Regis Le Bris' side now face the even bigger challenge of competing among the big names of English football.

    Who are they linked with?

    What about departures?

Midfielder Jobe Bellingham is on his way out of Sunderland, with the club in advanced talks with Borussia Dortmund over the sale of the 19-year-old. Meanwhile, winger Tommy Watson, 18, has already left the club to join Brighton.

Quick someone call Al Hilal back, I'm sure they will cover Sancho's wages

Re rob (11:14) I don't know if anyone on any walk of life that would accept a pay cut, so I wouldn't blame footballers for not doing so. It's just a job at the end of the day, no matter how much we as fans believe otherwise.

  13. Jadon Sancho - player profilepublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 3 June

    Jadon SanchoImage source, Getty Images

    Position: Winger

    Nationality: English

    Age: 25

Transfer status: Returns to Manchester United after Chelsea decided not to fulfil their obligation to buy clause following last season's loan.

Why did Chelsea not sign him?: The Blues had agreed an obligation to buy Sancho from United for around £25m if they finished higher than 14th in the Premier League, which they did - or pay to get out of the deal.

It looked like the winger might stay at Stamford Bridge after he produced several improved performances in the second half of the season and scored in Chelsea's 4-1 win over Real Betis in the Uefa Conference League final.

Chelsea entered into negotiations with the player's representatives but were not able to agree a contract with Sancho, who would have had to take a pay cut from his deal at United.

It is likely United will look for possible suitors for the 25-year-old.

How was his 2024-25 campaign?: Sancho endured a difficult league campaign, scoring three goals and making four assists in 31 appearances. His shot accuracy was also only 33%.

He fared much better in the Conference League, though, and netted in the semi-final and final as Chelsea won their first trophy since February 2022.

Gary Neville is hailing Bruno Fernandes as a hero for turning down a move to Saudi Arabia in favour of staying at Manchester United, despite the money that was apparently on offer. Has it not occurred to him that Fernandes might have had other motivations than money, or loyalty to the club, such as what was best for his family? It says a lot when Neville implies that turning down huge amounts of money is the defining factor in this scenario, rather than someone who may have simply been putting their family first. Bruno won't necessarily "run through a brick wall" for United, but he is already financially set for life, and this was more about what was right for him personally I reckon.

Gary Neville also thinks that the signing of Matheus Cunha and the links to Brentford forward Bryan Mbuemo are promising for Ruben Amorim's side.

“I think they are players who can come in and hit the ground running,” he told Sky Sports.

“Manchester United has become a very difficult place for new signings to operate in the last 10 years. Cunha and Mbuemo have got Premier League experience and lots of games under their belt," he added.

“When I watch United’s wide players they have to be able to get from box to box quickly, and they have to be able to travel with the ball and without the ball. Mbeumo and Cunha can do that, they both run forward with real intent and purpose.

“The players who are going to leave are more jinkers and play in smaller spaces.”

Maybe the plan at Man Utd is to forget about PSR rules, just make the squad so good that a point deduction won't matter.

  17. 'Star player' Fernandes 'so important' to United - Nevillepublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 3 June

    Gary Neville
Former Manchester United defender on Sky Sports

    Bruno FernandesImage source, Getty Images

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville believes Bruno Fernandes' decision to reject Al-Hilal and stay at the club is "significant".

"I think that there was an element of this situation that meant United getting that level of money, for someone of Bruno's age, obviously, you couldn't say that it would have been a bad deal," he told Sky Sports.

Speaking after Fernandes' future became clear, he added: "But, on the other hand, United's star player - only player at times - for the last four, five, six years, has been Fernandes. He's so important.

"To turn that money down at a point where United are at their lowest ebb and say, 'No, I want to fight through this, I want to see it through the other side, I want to come out and achieve things,' I think it says a lot about him as a person, as a character.

"The club needs people who are going to run through a brick wall for them."

  18. What do Nottingham Forest need in the summer transfer window?published at 13:35 British Summer Time 3 June

    Nottingham Forest

Nuno Espírito Santo, the head coach of Nottingham ForestImage source, Getty Images

Two-time European Cup winners Nottingham Forest will return to continental action next season for the first time in 30 years after finishing seventh. A place in the Conference League will be considered a disappointment by many at the club after the season they enjoyed but the pull of European football should help Nuno Espirito Santo attract more high-profile names.

    Who are they linked with?

Forest relied largely on Chris Wood for goals last season but will look to add more competition for the New Zealand international. Forest failed in a £22m bid to sign Yoane Wissa in January but could return for the Brentford forward after Chelsea pipped them to the signature of Liam Delap while Manchester City attacking midfielder James McAtee is also among their targets. The Athletic are reporting that Forest are close to agreeing a deal to sign the trio of forward Igor Jesus, left-back Cuiabano and centre-back Jair Cunha from Brazilian side Botafogo.

    How much can they spend?

Forest's qualification for Europe is great for fans, even if the Conference League may not necessarily swell their accounts. Uefa only distribute 9% of the prize pot to clubs in that competition, compared to 74% for those in the Champions League. The club have a top-10 wage budget, after establishing themselves back in the Premier League, and funds to meet the extra demands of a first European adventure for 30 years.

    What about departures?

Left-back Alex Moreno is expected to return to Aston Villa after the conclusion of his loan this month while Willy Boly and Harry Toffolo are also out of contract - just like goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey. Attackers like Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi will be in high demand by other clubs after the season they have had.

One club that have previously shown interest in Yoanne Wissa is Nottingham Forest.

With them returning to play European football next season, it might be as good a time as any for Nuno Espirito Santo's side to renew their interest in the Brentford man.

Let's take a look at how Forest's transfer window could look like...
