We've had plenty of confirmed news for you since we went live this morning at 08:00, recapping completed transfers and potential deals - Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho - that are not happening.

Let's take a look at some of the other rumours doing the rounds.

  2. What do Liverpool need in the summer transfer window?published at 11:43 British Summer Time 3 June

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot will look to build on the Premier League triumph during his second season in charge and the Reds have already signalled their intent to strengthen. Bolstering the full-back midfield and forward areas seem to be the biggest priorities this window.

    Who are they linked with?

Liverpool have already signed Netherlands international Jeremie Frimpong, with midfielder Florian Wirtz of Bayer Leverkusen and Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez also targets. Giorgi Mamardashvili will provide more competition for goalkeeper Alisson. Fans will be pleased to see the club sort out contract extensions for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. Meanwhile, Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike are reportedly among the strikers they are looking at.

    How much can they spend?

Federico Chiesa was Liverpool's only incoming for £10m last term and the Premier League champions have been outside of the top 10 spenders since 2019, but their model is a classic case of being smarter rather than bigger. Football finance expert Kieran Maguire says "they certainly have the capacity to spend £200m but whether that fits with their model is another matter."

    What about departures?

Trent Alexander-Arnold is a Real Madrid player after Liverpool accepted a fee to release the defender early from his contract. There could be further exits and BBC Sport's Sami Mokbel revealed during our Transfers Q&A live yesterday that Paris St-Germain and Al-Hilal are interested in Ibrahima Konate while striker Darwin Nunez could also leave Anfield this summer. Luis Diaz has also sparked rumours of leaving after an emotional post on social media while Harvey Elliott has been linked with Brighton.

Huuuuuundred percent agree with Rob at 11:14... I've never understood why players would turn down moves because they're being offered 'eye-watering sums of money' rather than 'eye-watering sums of money x2'. Obviously there's more going on that we aren't always aware about eg human factors like where their family and friends are based, but from purely a money point of view, even £10k a week is an insane salary.

    Position: Midfielder

    Nationality: Portuguese

    Age: 20

Transfer status: Signed by Chelsea in an £18m deal with Sporting Lisbon.

Why do Chelsea want him?: Predominantly a holding midfielder, Essugo arrives at Stamford Bridge as an alternative option to Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.

As Sporting's youngest ever player and with Champions League experience, though, he will provide more than just a back-up.

Thwarting opposition attacks and distribution from the 'quarter-back' role, Essugo is a calming influence in midfield.

How was his 2024-25 campaign?: He had an impressive 86% passing accuracy on loan with La Liga side Las Palmas last season. The 20-year-old also had a high 71% take-on success rate and is difficult to shift off the ball.

With rumours of Chelsea's interest in Gittens from Dortmund, acquiring Sancho to send him back there in a part exchange deal made all the sense in the world to me. Not to Chelsea it seems.

Why are English clubs struggling to get the best out of Sancho? Surely he’s worth a punt for one of the promoted clubs.

United's strange tactic of buying promising players and putting them on insane wages causes them problems again. Betis can't afford Antony's wages, Chelsea can't afford Sancho's etc. Perhaps the players need to show a little honesty and accept they aren't worth their current wage. They should accept a lower salary to ensure their future as a footballer at a good club, rather than settling for a high wage at a badly run club that doesn't want them back.

  12. What is Sancho's contract situation?published at 11:10 British Summer Time 3 June

Sancho will return to Old Trafford and his present contract runs to 2026, although United have the option to extend by a further year.

Chelsea will pay the £5million penalty clause to not sign winger Jadon Sancho from Manchester United.

The situation comes after they couldn’t agree a cut-price contract after a season on loan. There is appreciation over his contribution at Stamford Bridge, belief the loan was productive for all three parties and he leaves with well wishes.

It is unlikely that he plays in the Club World Cup despite being under contract until 30 June at Chelsea.

    Chances created: 31-36

Hi, I'm a Man Utd fan of 40+ years standing, and I personally don't really care if Bruno goes to Saudi, if he wants to go let him go. I am much, much more concerned about letting Alejandro Garnacho go. He is still only 20 years old, but he has played for Argentina, has scored in a cup final, and much more significantly, he won the Puskas Award for scoring a goal that very, very few current players could ever score. His potential is huge, and I so, so wish we had poached Thomas Frank from Brentford, sorry Bees fans, because he's an amazing manager, and would never let Alejo go.

  17. Fernandes rejects huge offer from Al-Hilalpublished at 10:46 British Summer Time 3 June
    Breaking

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport chief football news reporter

Bruno Fernandes has rejected a huge offer from Saudi Pro-League club Al-Hilal.

Fernandes has spent the last few days seriously considering the deal, which would have more than doubled his salary at Manchester United.

However, after discussing the matter with his family, Fernandes has informed Al-Hilal he will not be joining them.

It is likely he will be asked about the situation this evening when he is expected to conduct a pre-match news conference in Germany ahead of Portugal’s Nations League semi-final against the hosts tomorrow.

United are understood to be delighted about the news, which came after head coach Ruben Amorim expressed his belief in Hong Kong on Friday that Fernandes would remain at Old Trafford.

There were no direct conversations between United and Al-Hilal, so they were never presented with a bid they could turn down. However, it was expected Al-Hilal were prepared to offer between £80m and £100m to sign the 30-year-old in time for this month’s Club World Cup.

It is not clear whether they will now pursue alternative targets.

Leeds United will return to the Premier League after finishing last season at the top of the Championship with 100 points. The Daily Mail, external reported last month that the owners are eyeing a big summer for the newcomers, with a budget of approximately £150 million available for manager Daniel Farke to prepare them for the challenge of staying up.

    Who are they linked with?

According to Sky Sports, external, Leeds will prioritise a new goalkeeper, centre-back, central midfielder and striker ahead of their return to the Premier League. They are about to be overtaken by Brentford for Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher but are also interested in Everton forward Beto. They could also explore options to bring back Manor Solomon, who scored 10 goals for them last season while being on loan from Tottenham.

    How much can they spend?

Compared to fellow newcomers Burnley and Sunderland, Leeds are in a less fortunate position despite finishing at the top of the second tier. "They will have to box clever in terms of recruitment. Spending £100m is just about feasible," says football finance expert Kieran Maguire.

    What about departures?

Midfielder Josuha Guilvaogui has left the club upon expiration of his contract. Meanwhile, Danish right-back Rasmus Kristensen, who was on loan at Frankfurt last season, has made that move permanent. Along with Solomon, Joe Rothwell is nearing the end of his loan and will return to Bournemouth while full-backs Junior Firpo and Sam Byram will also run out of their contracts this month.

  20. Done deal - West Brom appoint Mason as head coachpublished at 10:38 British Summer Time 3 June

West Brom have appointed Ryan Mason as their head coach.

It brings a seven-year coaching career at Tottenham to an end for Mason, who progressed through the club's academy to also play 70 times for his boyhood team.

"This is a huge club with a fantastic infrastructure and an incredible fanbase, and I am excited about what we can achieve together," said Mason.
