Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou had a disappointing end to last season and began the new campaign with a draw away at a relegation favourite in Leicester City.

Spurs will expect to kick-start their season at home to Everton on Saturday, especially after a successful transfer window has helped shape the squad to better play the Australian's brand of 'Angeball'.

Making life more difficult is two tricky upcoming matches in September away at Newcastle and then at home to north London rivals Arsenal.

They may also be questions about where winger Wilson Odobert fits in after his move from Burnley and whether midfielder Yves Bissouma has reacted well to being dropped after filming himself taking laughing gas, which is a banned substance in the UK.

On whether they expect to bring anyone else in before the transfer window closes, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola: "I don’t think so but I don’t know. The market might provide us something that is financially good for us but at the moment I do not know."

On the possibility of bringing back Raheem Sterling: "He is a Chelsea player. I feel so attached with him because of the time we had together and I feel like that with all my players. But he is a Chelsea player. If you had asked me about Gundogan previously, I would have said he was a Barcelona player.

"But I wish him all the best."

Crystal Palace are one of the teams interested in signing Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling ahead of the transfer deadline next week.

Sterling has been told that he can leave Chelsea by manager Enzo Maresca and is training away from the main squad.

A deal for Sterling to join Palace would need an agreement to be reached on finances and be right for the Eagles, due to the potential cost of the transfer due to Sterling’s wages and any fee that would need to be paid.

Sterling has made 81 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Manchester City for £50m in July 2022.

Competition is heating up for the signature of Raheem Sterling - a new club has joined the queue of clubs interested in the Chelsea forward.
