Peterborough lost in the play-off semi finals to Oxford United last season

Peterborough United fell just short in last season's League One play-offs when they lost to Oxford United over two legs and didn't make it to Wembley.

There has been plenty of change to their squad over the summer and manager Darren Ferguson will be hoping this is the season they can make the step up.

Huddersfield arrive as one of the favourites to go straight back up this campaign after they finished 23rd last season in the Championship.

The Terriers are winless across their last six opening games of a league season (D1 L5), failing to score more than one goal in any of those matches, they'll be hoping that changes today.

  2. How will high-flying Stockport fare?published at 17:21 British Summer Time 10 August

    Stockport v Cambridge (17:30 BST)

Stockport County have won promotion in three of their past six seasons

With three promotions in six seasons Stockport fans can probably be forgiven for being full of optimism and hope as they return to League One for the first time in 14 years.

The Hatters made some key summer signings to bolster the squad and improve depth, particularly in midfield and upfront.

But boss Dave Challinor isn’t getting carried away, recently he said this season would be “different” and more “challenging” for his side.

Meanwhile, Cambridge United were just about able to stay afloat last season and enter the ne campaign with a few question marks hanging over them.

Whilst the U’s put in some decent performances in pre-season they haven’t managed to sign any marquee names in the summer transfer window to reassure fans that they can do better than 2023-24.

Boss Garry Monk will lean on his experienced players and in-game tactics to stay in matches this season.

  3. Wrexham’s superhero status to be put to the testpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 10 August

    Wrexham v Wycombe (17:30 BST)

Wrexham signed James McClean from Wigan Athletic

Expectations will be high for newly promoted Wrexham after their fairytale romp out of the National League and into the third tier over two seasons, following their Hollywood takeover.

But a hardy Wycombe Wanderers – who finished their League One campaign strongly last season – visit the Racecourse with plenty of talent and experience under their belts.

Both sides are expected to be firmly in the midtable mix with ambitions to enter and hold steady inside the top 10 in 2024-25.

For the second season opener in a row the Dragons will be without talisman Paul Mullin who is recovering from minor surgery.

The visiting Chairboys have added plenty of new faces to their squad this off-season and boss Matt Bloomfield will be hoping his side can pick up where they left off last season, when they ended on a seven game unbeaten run.

  8. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 10 August

    Fleetwood 1-0 Grimsby

It's an opening day victory for Charlie Adam's side as they look to bounce back from relegation last season.

Mark Helm's first-half goal was enough to earn Town all three points.

  9. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 10 August

    Barrow 1-0 Crewe

Theo Vassell's goal proves to be the difference as Barrow take the three points and it's a winning start for Stephen Clemence at Barrow.

Crewe begin with a loss - not what you want after being beaten play-off finalists at Wembley in May.

  10. 'Classic away day for Bradford City'published at 16:58 British Summer Time 10 August

FT: MK Dons 1-2 Bradford City

    Paul Dixon
    BBC Three Counties Radio commentator

You make your life so much more difficult if you concede an early goal and to concede two.

MK Dons had chances but Bradford City defended deep, they defended well. Though MK Dons did get through them sometimes, they paid the price for the poor start.

Graham Alexander will think that was a pretty classic away day performance but if you're Mike Williamson...

MK Dons have got to be better in the final third, they've got to be better in their own defensive third. It was very much a last season start.

  11. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 10 August

    Salford 0-2 Port Vale

Ben Garrity's two goals give relegated and revamped Port Vale three points on their return to League Two.

Not what Salford would have wanted as they try to improve on last season's 20th place.

  12. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 10 August

    Tranmere 0-0 Notts County

Somehow, Notts County haven't managed to score and they share the spoils with Tranmere at Prenton Park.

Robbie Cundy almost changed that deep into injury time, but his glancing header from Dan Crowley's corner flew wide and it's honours even.

  13. Postpublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 10 August

    Harrogate 0-2 Bromley

Bromley goalkeeper Grant Smith gets the shovel out as he keeps out Ellis Taylor's low free-kick, pushing it behind for a corner.

He wants a clean sheet on Bromley's first EFL appearance.

  14. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 10 August

    Mk Dons 1-2 Bradford City

It was indeed the Dons' last chance - and those two Bradford goals inside the first five minutes have proved enough for the visitors to claim all three points.

Alex Pattison's strike and Sam Sherring's own goal do it for the Bantams - and Alex Gilbey's reply for the Dons wasn't enough.

  15. League Two latestpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 10 August

    #bbcefl

Doncaster are romping to an opening day win here over Accrington. On his fairy-tale return and off the bench Billy Sharp fires home to make it 4-1.

  16. Postpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 10 August

    MK Dons 1-2 Bradford City

Is that the Dons' last chance to save themselves from an opening day defeat?

Again they break down the right and the cross arrives to the feet of Tommy Leigh, but he blazes over. Just seconds left...

  17. 'Bradford City making things hard'published at 16:54 British Summer Time 10 August

    MK Dons 1-2 Bradford City

    Andy Kiwomya
Ex-Bradford forward and head of performance on BBC Radio Leeds

I don't understand why Bradford City are making things so hard for themselves.

If you want to be a promoted side, manage the game better. They are always making us, the fans, live with the last minute.

  18. Postpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 10 August

    Fleetwood 1-0 Grimsby

Ryan Graydon's effort is deflected behind for the hosts, who now look as though they're going to settle for that one goal and a winning start to life in League Two.

They've rarely been tested by Grimsby so far - but it only takes a moment to score a goal. They've got four extra minutes to conjure one up.

  19. Postpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 10 August

    Salford 0-2 Port Vale

Ben Garrity's afternoon is over as manager Darren Moore brings the captain off to great applause from the travelling support.

His two goals have surely won the day for Vale.

  20. INJURY TIMEpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 10 August

    Barrow 1-0 Crewe

We are now into seven minutes of injury time at Holker Street.

Will Barrow see this one out in Stephen Clemence's first game?
