  1. CLOSE!published at 12:37 GMT

    Millwall 0-0 Preston

Both sides have made a bright start to this game and Millwall go close again.

Caleb Taylor manages to hook the ball into the Preston box and the visitors eventually get it away after it bounces awkwardly at the far post.

    End to end so far.

Today feels like the biggest day that Blackburn have had for a while.

They celebrate their 150th birthday and will be hoping for a performance to merit it.

  3. Postpublished at 12:36 GMT

    Blackburn 0-0 Derby

Full-blooded but scrappy start at Ewood, if we're honest. A lot of head tennis and some physical battles emerging already, but nothing to speak of in either final third as yet.

  4. SAVE!published at 12:36 GMT

    Millwall 0-0 Preston

A first effort on target from Preston and it comes from a Millwall mistake.

Thierno Ballo's loose pass goes straight to Michael Smith and he plays it across to Stefan Thordarson, whose long-range strike draws a strong save from Millwall keeper Max Crocombe.

    A lively start.

  5. CHANCE!published at 12:33 GMT

    Millwall 0-0 Preston

Millwall get forward in numbers in a nice early move for the hosts, Tristan Crama getting forward from right-back and cutting the ball back to Camiel Neghli, but the Algerian's first-time effort went well over the bar.

A promising start for the Lions.

  6. Postpublished at 12:33 GMT

    Hull City 0-0 Portsmouth

Energetic start in East Yorkshire, with both teams going on forward raids in the opening 60 seconds.

Pompey are looking to end a run of three games without a goal.

  7. Postpublished at 12:32 GMT

    Blackburn 0-0 Derby

Big day for Blackburn Rovers, as the club marks its 150th anniversary, with a host of legends at Ewood Park today to watch this game and a Legends XI facing Old Etonians on the hallowed turf later this afternoon.

First there is business to take care of, interesting to see whether Valerien Ismael will stick with a back-three or mix things up with Scott Wharton out with injury.

Left wing-back Ryan Hedges - the Swiss Army Knife of Ewood Park - looks to be in as a third centre back meaning the only position he has not occupied for the club is now goalkeeper.

  11. Three changes for Rovers; Rams as you werepublished at 12:25 GMT

    Blackburn v Derby (12:30 GMT)

Valerien Ismael has been forced into three changes to the Rovers side which made it three straight wins, at Bristol City on Tuesday.

Hungarian international keeper Balazs Toth suffered a knee injury which will keep him out until the New Year, so Aynsley Pears comes in for his first start of the season.

Scott Wharton also misses out with an Achilles injury while Sondre Tronstad serves a one match ban, with Dion De Neve and Axel Henriksson returning and Sean McLoughlin skippering the side.

In a surprise to absolutely nobody after winning four straight games, Derby boss John Eustace has named an unchanged Rams XI from the one which beat Hull City 2-1 at Pride Park on Tuesday night.

Ex-Rovers skipper Lewis Travis misses out for the Rams due to a calf injury but Andi Weimann and Danny Baath are on the bench against their former employers.

Out come Wes Harding, Joe Bryan, Billy Mitchell and Luke Cundle for the Lions.

Zak Sturge, Derek Mazou-Sacko and Aidomo Emakhu all come in while there's a first league start for 22-year-old Caleb Taylor in defence.

Lewis Dobbin, Thierry Small, Alfie Devine come out of the Preston team, with striker Milutin Osmajic beginning a nine-match suspension for racially abusing Burnley's Hannibal in February.

Mads Frokjaer-Jensen makes his first league start, with Stefan Thordarson, Michael Smith and Jamal Lewis also in the starting XI.

Some early... Managerial news to bring you for this afternoon's action if you hadn't already seen.

Middlesbrough boss Rob Edwards has been stood down from their match against Birmingham City today.

The Teessiders rejected an approach from Premier League strugglers Wolves for their manager earlier this week.

However, Boro cancelled their pre-match news conference on Friday and BBC Sport understands Edwards did not take training yesterday either.

Boro start the weekend third in the Championship table.

  16. Rams boss Eustace makes Rovers returnpublished at 12:15 GMT

    Blackburn v Derby (12:30 GMT)

Plastic snakes and spray-painted bedsheets at the ready, all eyes on Ewood Park this lunchtime.

John Eustace quit Blackburn in February to take over at Derby, dropping 16 places in the Championship table and swapping a play-off push for a relegation scrap

This is Eustace's first return, though it's not the first reunion - the then rock-bottom Rams welcomed some very bitter Rovers fans to Pride Park in March in Eustace's fourth match in charge and went 2-0 up inside seven minutes on their way to a 2-1 win, his first at the club after starting with three straight defeats.

Former Rovers players Andi Weimann, Danny Batth and skipper Lewis Travis have followed Eustace to Derby to add some more spice to this occasion.

Despite the subplots, the fixture also pits two of the division's in-form sides against one another - Derby's 2-1 win over Hull City on Tuesday was a fourth straight success, while Rovers' 1-0 victory at Bristol City the same evening was their third in a row.

    Popcorn at the ready...

  17. Will Millwall bounce back against in-form Preston?published at 12:13 GMT

    Millwall v Preston (12:30 GMT)

Millwall were brought crashing back down to earth in their 4-0 thumping at Birmingham in midweek to end their unbeaten start to the season on the road - a run spanning eight games in all competitions.

The fourth-placed Lions take on third-placed Preston at The Den with both teams knowing a win would, at least temporarily, lift them into the automatic promotion spots.

Paul Heckingbottom's side are one of the Championship's in-form teams with three wins on the bounce.

With just one point taken from the past six available, Millwall boss Alex Neil would love to get one over his old club to get his side back on track.

  18. Tigers target top-six return after Derby defeatpublished at 12:11 GMT

Hull City v Portsmouth (12:30 GMT)

Hull City's run of six games unbeaten came to an end in midweek when they lost 2-1 at improving Derby County.

Still, the Tigers will go back up into the top six, albeit possibly only temporarily, if they get back to winning ways this afternoon.

Remarkably, a victory over Portsmouth today would see them match last season's tally of five home wins already.

Pompey, who have lost just one of their past 11 visits to East Yorkshire, ended a run of three straight losses with a low-key goalless draw with Wrexham on Wednesday.

John Mousinho's side are five points above the bottom three as it stands and would like to keep that buffer at least that many before the international break.

Rotting pumpkins and burnt-out sparklers litter the garden, another international break looms and we're at the end of another of those gruelling 'nine-point weeks' in the Championship.

By tea-time on Saturday, almost every EFL side will be a third of the way through their season but the 2025-26 campaign is turning into the most open in memory across all three divisions.

We have friends, and some foes, reunited in the second tier, sack races heating up and subplots galore.

Here are five things to look out for across the EFL weekend.

  20. As it stands...published at 12:06 GMT

Watford and Bristol City shared the points last night so the top six remains as you were going into today's programme.

Preston have the chance to climb into the top two as they visit Millwall, one place below them, this lunchtime, while Stoke and boss Mark Robins welcome his old club Coventry, in a table-topping humdinger at 15:00 GMT.

Middlesbrough, without Rob Edwards on the touchline, and Charlton are the other top-six sides in action later this afternoon, seeking to stay ahead of the chasing pack, while at the other end Portsmouth have the chance to pull away from the drop zone as they head to Hull City at 12:30 GMT while the four sides below them all play at 15:00 GMT.
