Everyone focused on Ferrari and McLaren. Don’t forget there are also two Mercedes lurking.

What Lewis Hamilton would want is that his team-mate [Charles Leclerc] actually gets a good launch and maybe even slightly better than him would be ideal.

He can then tow up behind one, move and tow up behind the other and get a double momentum and then swing around the outside.

I think that Max has to have a cool head going into the first few laps since he has a really chance of stealing a fifth championship, but assuming that McLaren do well and the cars in front don’t make any mistakes this could be close!

As expected most of the front runners are starting on the soft tyre. Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc have got new soft tyres which should give them an advantage.

Max Verstappen in fifth place is on a new set of mediums, he's obviously going to try and run long.

The tyre covers are off and almost everyone is on softs. Six drivers are on mediums including Max Verstappen. He has never won race from fifth before, will that change today?

Piastri will find himself in a Ferrari sandwich. Norris and Verstappen will drive away from everyone!

Lando Norris has been fast all season. Now it's his time to shine and take back control of the championship. He can definitely do it today.

Is [pole] the best seat in the house at this specific circuit?

For this specific start we've got a long run down to Turn One, you would argue that Lewis Hamilton potentially has the best seat in the house.

He's going to be starting third and he will get a tow from both his team-mate [Charles Leclerc] and Lando Norris.

Could we see Lewis Hamilton lead a grand prix for Ferrari come Turn One?

Max Verstappen has been closing [championship gap] rapidly in the last few rounds, he's gained 64 points on the leader [Oscar Piastri] in the last four races.

He is smelling blood and is absolutely coming for the two McLaren drivers.

Lando Norris just needs to keep his nose clean. Better to finish second to a Ferrari than attempt a risky move.

    Alex

If Norris can keep first into turn one and McLaren don't mess up the pit stops, then he can win by a few seconds.

There's a DJ blasting out beats on the grid, a photographer up close to Lando Norris taking photos and nearby fans cheering and shouting from behind a trackside fence but Norris is shutting it all out and is an image of focus. This is big, perhaps the biggest race of his career, so he's blocking out all the noise.

  14. 'Question mark about tyres'published at 19:50 GMT 26 October

McLaren's Lando Norris, speaking to Sky Sports: "It is a long race, and it is a bit hotter today.

"The wind has picked up - we will wait and see how it goes for us.

"A question mark about tyres. I think we're confident in our pace and approach, but still a lot of question marks."

Haas' Oliver Bearman, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a good quali yesterday - I was happy with the lap I did in Q3. It wasn't the most competitive, but I know we have a good race car, so I'm looking forward to it.

"Definitely a bit hotter. You can tell the tyres are not liking it as much as they were on Friday - it is going to be an interesting race."

McLaren's Oscar Piastri, who starts in seventh, said: "Try and pass a few cars, that's probably the best idea. We will see what we can do and try and unlock some pace.

"Obviously it's been a little bit of a tricky one, but we will see what we can do."

On adopting Michael Jordan's mentality: "I mean just doing everything you can do to win and not stopping at anything, I will try and channel some of that."
