  1. What is the weather forecast for British GP qualifying?published at 11:12 British Summer Time 6 July

Is this pre-season testing in winter or the British Grand Prix in July?

We should all prepare ourselves to fill the time with other things over the next hour because that rain is not going anywhere during third practice.

Qualifying gets under way at 3pm and judging by the weather graphic below, we should get a bit of respite from the wet stuff, but we'll see.

As an Aussie, Oscar Piastri is all over our truly disheartening summer climate, writing on X earlier: "Got to love English weather. Don’t forget your trunks and goggles today Silverstone."

Also a mention for any of you follow along today who are camping at the circuit this weekend and were caught up in the storm last night. Any pictures you have, or if you just want us to say hello to you, send us your messages using the hashtag #BBCF1.

Hello, folks. The Formula 3 sprint race has already been postponed this morning due to difficult weather conditions (it'll now take place at 18:00 BST), so who knows what's in store for us as we build-up to Saturday's F1 action.

Third practice is scheduled for 11:30 BST.

Qualifying goes green at 15:00 BST.

Thankfully, we don't overlap with England's quarter-final with Switzerland at the Euros which kicks off at 17:00 BST, so the sporting world is your oyster today.

Commentary on final practice is on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds, while qualifying is online-only by using the 'listen live' tab at the top of this page.

Welcome back to Jennie Gow, Harry Benjamin, former McLaren mechanic Marc Priestley, British racing driver Sam Bird and BBC F1 correspondent Andrew Benson.

Following Friday's two practice sessions, Oscar Piastri told reporters: "Trying to stay on top of British weather is hard in normal times, let alone on a race weekend."

Every team and driver will be staring up at the skies and hoping for a glimpse of the great British summer just in time for the fight for pole position this afternoon.

The chances of that happening? Well, let's just say don't pack away your brolly if you're lucky enough to be at Silverstone this weekend.
