The track is evolving so quickly, everybody is going to get quicker and quicker. I don't think it's going to be too long before teams are genuinely thinking about going on a soft tyre.
The crowd go "oooooh" as one, as Lando Norris slides across the slippery track. The McLaren driver doesn't travel too far, however, and is able to keep his car on the right path to go second on the timesheets with a 1:37.607. Max Verstappen is the quickest driver so far.

They are sussing out where the grip is, this is the first time they've been out in these conditions. There is very little water in large parts of this circuit.
The intermediates are bolted on across the field but with Valtteri Bottas' news filtering down the pit lane, when will the teams make the switch over to the slicks?
American Logan Sargeant, on this 4th July weekend, puts the first time on the board with a 1:40.215 in the Williams.

It's really hard to read going forward and I'm looking forward to the next hour. You look at the weather now and there's a little bit of blue sky and a lot of cloud cover as well.
We are expecting rain at some point I believe, 60% chance of rain in the session.
Lando loves Silverstonepublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 6 July

Friday was the perfect start to Lando Norris' ultimate goal of becoming a British Grand Prix winner on Sunday, but why does the McLaren driver love Silverstone so much?
Summer has arrived (sort of) at Silverstone. The sun has come out and the 5.891km circuit is drying slowly, so the intermediate tyre could be the first choice at the start of Q1.
Will we see a British driver on pole? Lando Norris told Sky Sports a few moments ago: "I would love it to be dry but it's going to be in the middle like last year."

Let’s turn away from qualifying for a brief moment and focus on the real stars of the paddock.
Lewis Hamilton’s dog Roscoe is a
well-known face and has been in the paddock for many years. New to the scene is
Charles Leclerc’s puppy Leo, who is already melting hearts.
Earlier this week, Leclerc said he was eager
for the two to meet. We are all waiting for that image to drop…

Seven-time world champion Lewis
Hamilton holds the record for the most poles with seven, with his last one at
Silverstone in 2020.
Last year he qualified seventh at the British Grand Prix, and is still yet to score a pole position this season. After getting more
comfortable in the upgraded Mercedes, he will be pushing this afternoon at a
track he knows rather well in front of his home fans.
